If anyone is curious about how they made the mother sound the way they did. They first recorded a word, then reversed it, then made the voice actor try to pronounce the reversed word and then reverse that. Its how you get that disjointed ethereal kinda tone.

19:00 Jesse has clearly not played enough of the Rusty Lake & Cube Escape Games if that vanishing effect is still freaking him out. xD (Also that he does not keep clicking on the shadow being/ghost until it leaves.) 1:30:00 The frustration when Jesse puts in the wrong numbers and is like "no, that doesn't work". Tbf I'd be confused, too, if I had the OWL and OWLS puzzles to complete at the same time. Luckily, I did OWL before even getting the worm.

I am enthralled by this game. The puzzles elements are fantastic and right up my alley. I never would have considered this game thinking it was a horror game, but it's more bizarre than anything truly scary. Thank you for the playthrough!

There are quite a few games that fall into the creepy category without being scary. I know this video and comment are ancient historical artifacts at this point, but if anyone stumbles upon it during an archeological dig through the Jesse files and wants some recommendations, just let me know.

ya, i caught this before the owls comment. they do it by speaking the sentence backwards, then playing the recording in reverse. so instead of "who killed Laura", the actors say "aruaL dellik ooh". then they play that backwards.

Mr Cox, if you have not - go and play the free on-line "Cube Escape" games as well. You'll be less confused about what happens in these games. I'm not saying you'll stop being confused. Just... Less confused. :) You will need the code from RL Hotel, though, in one game at least.

Want to know the funny thing Jesse? The more Cube Escape/Rusty lake games (which are all connected) that you play, the more questions you will have. I've played them all multiple times, and I'm still lost. I have so many questions... so many. But yes you are correct in this being a prequel. The question is, what happened after this? What was the significance of Laura? or as you might know her from Roots. William Vanderboom...

Beat the game myself and read up on the franchise. No major spoiler, just the timeline. Paradise is the first, as in no other game are even closed to it in the timeline, and is definitely the origin story of Mr. Owl. Root is the next one, since it span a long time over 3 generations, Hotel happen in the middle. From my understanding, I might be missing one or two, that Cube escape are all in the 20th century far later than the three.

The nice thing about these games, I think, is that in any given single game, almost everything in it are answers to questions posed in other games in the series. Which makes it *super* satisfying to go back and replay them and be like 'oh my god THAT'S THE THING FROM THE OTHER GAME' and you do get clear connecting lines and answers as you piece everything together. You really do fall into the kinda red-string-on-a-corkboard mentality when trying to tie everything together, but it does indeed eventually fall into place!

Okay my theory: when you get sacrificed you turn into an animal (I.e. All the animals here are animals in hotel) but it didn't work with the mother until the son came back and figured everything else out and was killed the same way his mom did, by fire. That's all I got. Things that still need explaining: •who you play in hotel + why •who's mr crow •how roots tries in with this If you have idea please share.

I don't think the events in Roots have much to do with this or Hotel. That's part of what I like about the Rusty Lake games, there's a bunch of weird things going on largely unconnected to each other apart from the fact that they happen near this lake.
@AnnekeOosterink5 жыл бұрын
It's all connected though. Have you played/seen the cube escape series? It connects the dots (if you can read between the lines and extrapolate from teh clues you've been given). And I know there are some great timeline and theory videos on youtube.

Most of the "puzzles" in these games aren't so much puzzles, as they are just plain instructions - that or trial and error, trying to figure some slightly obscure visuals out... I was sort of expecting them to have focused on making them difficult, since they went for such a simple visual style... That or just a more interesting/detailed or strange story. Don't get me wrong, I love the concept/atmosphere of these, but it just seems to me, that it has so much more potential
@shift11097 жыл бұрын
Lord Victor Halgaard it's also like a 3$ game

You are right that many of them rely on getting the visual/audio cues, but none of the puzzles are trial and error. There is always a hint.
