Starfield is TRYING to replicate the loneliness and desolation of space. That’s honestly one of the reasons that I’m so excited for it. In all honesty, I’ve never been this excited for a game. Maybe halo 2, but I don’t think that I was this excited.

Todd confirmed in an interview 10% of the planets will have life. That’s 100 planets, I think that’s plenty. It’s a good balance, makes finding life rewarding as it should be. Every planet having bases and life would ruin immersion, after all it’s a roleplaying game. Why explore planets if they all have life and bases to explore that would ruin it.

People really should start thinking of Starfield's map, as Fallout 4 or Skyrim's map, but bigger and broken into chunks. I mean, both Fallout and Elder Scrolls has places with no life or even anything to do. Big empty areas of nothing. Well, so does Starfield. It just happens to be an entire planet that's empty, as opposed to a a small area of the map.

After selling Bethesda to Microsoft, Todd could retire if he wants to. He's staying on because this is what he wants to do. You can tell this is a passion project, and the year long delay has clearly been to its benefit. I was a little cautious about it last year, but I think this will be another milestone release on the level of Skyrim, if not Morrowind.

I don't know if it was only me, but I distinctly remember that Todd never felt as commited or joyful about presenting Fallout 76, as he had with Fallout 4. Everything from his body language to speech and expressiveness felt genuinely excited when he presented Fallout 4 on stage, but with Fallout 76, he would stumble and be lower energy overall. I could just feel it with that presentation itself, so never bothered getting excited for it, and then the release was a letdown for many people while I never played the game. I am happy to report that it seems like he feels just as passionate and excited about Starfield here, and has been in all things related to it, so this has definitely pushed my excitement for Starfield up a bit.

I´m hyped, too. But no, it won´t be a killer game for a long term. Many people are hyped because of the amazing Showcase and so am I. But what many don´t get is the fact, that this game will be a very long game. And what´s maybe more important, a very slow one. Many players who saw this showcase will shit later about the lies the developers told them. They will realize that there are many planets without life on it. Most planets to only walk around and gather material. No developer lied to them, Howard told many times, that most planets are barren wastelands but how the brains of many people work - I don´t think that they got it. They don´t understand the concept, "realism" and beauty behind it and so they will get angry. They didn´t get what they thought. Starfield will be a success as a videogame, I´m sure about that, but maybe not in the spheres many think of. But you´re right, there are people who will play this game for years and I will be one of them.

And even only at 10% thats still 100 inhabited planets, still much larger than any previous title. I feel Bethesda has been doing a good job to be transparent with this game.

@@MrDuvalbulldog Yes, they did and I do not say, that they are lying, my point is, that people think that Starfield is something else. See, when F76 was announced it was clear that there would not be any human NPC in the game. F76 was designed as a sandbox for people who wanted to create their own RPG, their own stories. THAT was the reason to not have NPCs. In my opinion not the smartest concept, but a very brave one. Even without the technical issues and a less cheaper made Collectors Edition, F76 would have failed and been hated on because most people wanted a Fallout game not a sandbox RPG, in which you have to create your own content. There is a big difference between hearing about a feature, understanding a feature and playing with that feature. Critics will say after release "Ha see, as I told you all before - most planets are empty. But you fanboys didn´t listen." The latest interview with Todd didn´t had many new informations but one or two really important ones. Ship building and outposts, these features are expensive, ressource heavy and because of that nothing to play with in the first hours. What does that mean for some players? Timegating? Do they want us to download their coming Outpost ressource App? Can I buy something to shorten the time to get to this ressources which I need to build and customize my ships which I need to explore far away solar systems? Is it even possible to mod new content like dungeons on random planets, when these planets do not completely exist before you visit them? I think all of that is possible and I don´t care. It´s not 2011 anymore and games and monetarization has changed. Again - I will play this game forever but I´m aware of these possibilities and cons which won´t be fun for many players.

I love your analysis it’s entirely on point and aligns with what I’ve seen. It’s like a lesson was learnt from all bethesda games, the perk system of Fallout 4, but the usage system of Skyrim. The Traits of Fallout 3 and New Vegas with the Rp of your build, particularly around the dialogue and dropping the experiment of the voiced protagonist of Fallout 4. Even the settlement system from Fallout 4 has been refined, and simplified and a lot of people didn’t like it for whatever reason so this simplification might just make it more bearable, but detailed enough to suit a wider range of people. Even the act of creating a feature, with Fallout 4’s big announcement event so much emphasis was on Character Creation, Settlement Building and a Voiced Protagonist but in this Starfield Direct, they spend very little time on explaining it because back then it was just that isn’t was all experimental. This was just like the perfect deep dive to something that.. may be the perfect Bethesda game. Which sounds insane to even suggest but from what I’m seeing.. it’s just wild.

I'm a multiple playthrough ME player andna decade-long EVE player. So I'm no stranger to complexity. Loved the storylines in ME. As far as EVE goes, you make your own story. And things happen in New Eden whether you're there or not. But this game... this game is nothing short of astonishing. TH has not only promised us a big story, he's mentioned that there will be "step out" moments that will blow our minds. Curiously enough, he didn't mention any of that in the presentation. Zo I'm all in for this one. Looks to be the best of everything.

Starfield borrowed aspects of Elite Dangerous's power distribution, and even targeting specific ship modules with your weapons. I really hope they borrowed the in-ship control layout too. Elite Dangerous's controls are really extensive and useful.

When they showed the DOCKING/BOARDING - Never have I been so excited for a game, just because I HOPE some modder makes a W40K mod of the game. Give me the Fallout 4 Space Marine Power Armor mod in Starfield graphics, and Bolters & Chainswords & all the W40K armours/weapons from Darktide and Space Marine 1 & 2. Give me W40K styled modular Ship parts for building and SCALE increases for W40K battleships. And lastly, Give me W40K - Neo-Gothic styled building parts for base building and overhauls for Imperial Guard NPCs and W40K races as enemies. Modders PLEASE.

For anyone that hasn't played the game yet, keep this in mind: It's a Bethesda game, using the same (but modified) engine that Skyrim and Fallout 4 use. It 100% feels like Fallout 4 in terms of like...the gameplay and stuff. You still loot everything, you still modify weapons using resources you've looted, you still build a base, you still run out of inventory space, it's still Y to jump, there's still a sneak meter, there's still the constantly running from vendor to vendor to sell everything, or still using the "wait" function to reset a vendor's inventory. Like, it's definitely still Fallout 4 in terms of how it actually feels to play. Buuuuut. It also has Space, Space travel, Space combat, Ship building, and honestly, WAY better dialogue and quests. I'm like 30 hours in, and for one, I'm still just bumping into quests while walking through cities and stuff, including cities I've been to plenty of times before...and I haven't gotten bored yet. Not one quest I've done have I disliked. It almost feels like CDPR in terms of quality questlines and dialogue. The building itself has been improved from FO4. Mostly minor things, but it still feels better to do (and you don't even need OCDecorator anymore). Only downside, is that they removed being able to build individual walls/floors, and opted to have you place down full rooms at a time. Not horrible, but definitely gives the player less options. So, imagine Starfield as this: Fallout 4 as a base, with a little bit of No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, Mass Effect, and Cyberpunk taped to it.

Game looks great. Fallout 76 and the YT videos made about it seem to have caused people to forget who you're talking about here, which is the studio that made a couple of the greatest western RPGs of all time, and the single best selling one. Yeah FO76 was a big whiff, but FO76 also wasn't actually directed by Todd Howard or his Maryland studio - they were working on Starfield. But even if he had, it's one game - and a game that they've since apparently made into a pretty good experience, if still a flawed one. They'll have learned from that experience, and perhaps most importantly - they'll have learned from No Man's Sky's experience, and the things it got right and wrong about large scale procedural generation.

It's Space! Why does everyone think that every planet should be populated with life and colonized by people at only 300 years in the future. I think its great that you can go to planets that are barren and be the "first ever" human to step foot on the surface. Most planets we currently know about are rock, ice, gas or lava. Plus the modding community is going to create some amazing stuff so don't worry about Starfield being so empty for long haha. Be hopeful my friends!

Honestly I haven’t felt this hyped for a game since Skyrims trailer dropped honestly. Like i was stoked for Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 but nothing as much as I was for Skyrim. Oy vei. I was quoted on a Beli video. I feel like my life may have now peaked. 🤔 Will Starfield be AMAZING? Maybe... it certainly LOOKS great... but it's a Bethesda game, so the chances of it landing WITHOUT game-breaking (or at least game-crippling) bugs are somewhat LESS great. I'm certain I'll buy it and play it... eventually... and if it receives genuinely positive reviews when people are able to play it for themselves, I'll likely jump on the bandwagon with alacrity. As things are now, I'm content to wait and see. Either way, seeing Beli-commentary and/or gameplay videos will be educational and entertaining and I'm looking forward to hearing what aspects, both good and bad, are revealed. 👍 EDIT: I have mixed emotions about the inclusion of the "Adoring Fan" from Obivion. It's HYSTICAL that they included a feature I'm confident I will NEVER make use of, as I find him FAR too annoying to keep around for any length of time.

Bugs are due, but what, have you not had fun with Skyrim day one? If memory serves, I couldn't stop playinf that game for like two weeks. I think it should be vaguely playable quickly :)

@@belisaurusgaming6192 Actually, Skyrim had been out for five years and was pretty well established before I tried it. I'm slow to take on the commitment involved in diving into a new game. I still haven't gotten around to playing through Witcher 3 yet (I played the first two years ago), although I did purchase it fairly quickly...
