Dude, hands down best review of this light I've seen thus far. I've owned an HL-X for over a year now and I'm just now finding out about the high and low setting, on top of it being able to switch mounts to get a slimmer profile. And the fact that it has cable management built into the mount itself, AND its dual fuel 🤯🤯...WHAT! I have been under-utilizing this light for so long. I'm excited for it all over again. Thank you bro, seriously.

As a firefighter the only lights I see in this line if work are streamlights. I've had mine in many fires. They've survived big drops, my flashlight that I keep in my pants pocket for work has been through the washer and dryer probably like 10 times, and now lives on my firehelmet and goes into fires since I got a brighter flashlight for my EDC on the job.

I went into the Marine Corps in 83, we used those old Vietnam periscope flashlights, I got out in 94 and became a Deputy Sheriff in the same year, flashlights hadn't changed much at that time either. We still only had pistols and some old Rem 870's until the Los Angeles bank robbery where the LAPD Officers were totally outgunned and only then did my Agency think it was a good idea to have AR15's in Patrol and the Detectives Office, SWAT of course already had them. Thanks for serving, I'm glad that you survived ^5

Nowadays, the light comes with an mlok mount which will bring the light closer to the rail and to the 1 oclock position. If you arent happy with that, the light has the surefire scout footprint and you can just about use any aftermarket scout light mount for a better mounting solution.

I work in security and love my protac HL-X. Mind you I carry a belt clip version with all the same features minus the rifle mount and pressure pad, but it's still a crazy cool light for the money. Only draw back I feel is the high beams run time being so short. But I run two seperate lights for two very different jobs. I primarily use my protac for the ridiculously long throw when my general purpose light can't illuminate deep enough into the tree line to see anything.

You really need to be a sucker to spend almost 4 times the money for a surefire when this is just as good. I run this on my primary home defense AR. If an intruder comes in you can just blind them to death and never need to fire. Seriously though this gives you a major tactical advantage, especially in close quarters.
