It's a battle of price over power in the duel between these two naked sports bikes as Ducati's more expensive, but more powerful Monster 1200 R takes on Triumph's Speed Triple R. For the full review, head to www.bikesocial.co.uk

Swapped my fourth Triple (3 955s and one 1050) for the MTS 1000S. I'll have the Duc all day.

And engine size Triumph for me

To me it would depend on your terms of ownership. If you are the type to trade up every 2 years? The Ducati. Longer term? Triumph. I've chewed gums with the dealer mechanics and when you see how much the 14k service is for the Ducati it'll make you ill. The Triumph isn't so bad.

And that is why I bought a Multistrada 1000S that had the Big Service done 15 miles ago!

Triumph everytime.

The price of the Ducat is insane. It's far more expensive than the already expensive KTM Superduke 1290 R, which is a better bike in every measurable way.

Yeah, so what, the Aprilla is a far better bike than your KTM.

No it's not it's ugly af and heavier. It's also not fair because one is 1301cc and one is 1198cc. So if it talking in terms of power that's not fair
@jimpanzer075 жыл бұрын
I have both of these and like the video says its so close that you really cant choose a winner, I do feel faster on the Triumph though

The salesman who sold my S3 to me also sells Ducati. He prefers the S3 more and he owns a Ducati 1198.

The bottom end, around town stuff is fun. But trying to keep up with any I4 you can forget about it. Even though this thing is a 1050, it's slow, which is frustrating.

When you have litre bikes with this much power anyway, it’s about how the bike looks (makes you feel) as much as it’s about how it performs. I just can’t get on with the Ducati for how it looks. I think the speed triple is one of the best looking baker’s out there, and I think the front end is the best it’s looked.

+Steamin Steven I thought so too until I rode them both on the same day. The Triumph Speed Triple R was just a much nicer bike to ride. It was so comfortable and smooth. The Ducati Monster 1200 was snatchy, with lots of vibration, and difficult to ride. I was hard to get it rolling without stalling and needed a lot of RPM. Very weird. I didn't even care to look at a Triumph until the test ride leader, suggested I swap for the Triumph he was on. I'm glad I did because it's now my benchmark.

I recently rode a Monster 1200S and had the same experience. The engine, being a high compression twin, isn't going to be very smooth any way but I expected better. As you say it's very snatchy and to be honest the vibrations were close to Harley territory. I left rather disappointed.

Ya I presently ride an 09 Monster 1100 (the air cooled one) and I agree, its lumpy and easy to stall, it is in no way a great slow rydin, urban traffic machine, it needs to be going at least 80kph to be happy. Once it is rolling though, its great... my old air cooled machine is probably even worse than the new one, I basically say to people it has a tractor motor in it...
@kevinpaterson63836 жыл бұрын
How the hell can you guys have had stalling issues on the Ducati??? You just dumping the clutch on it??? I’ve ridden the 821, 1200/S/R they’re awesome machines. Swapped my god awful Triple R for my 821. Covered 25000 trouble free miles in less than a year through winter... 1 stall in that time and that was because I didn’t let the back brake go trying to pull away 🤦♂️

@@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy Uh, you guys do realize that it's a Ducati; that vibration, snatchy throttle, and general rowdiness is what makes them a Ducait.
