Delay techs are exactly what throw escape practice mode is trying to teach players. It even sort-of tells you as such, but this video is much more detailed about the nuance of the tech.

Your beginner-friendly and comprehensive guides have helped me so much whilst getting used to Street Fighter 6. I have a long-term experience with various fighting games, but my major experience with SF is 5, which we know has a.. mixed, reputation. I love 6, but it is definitely taking some time to get used to - these videos have been a substantial mentor, and I've been seeing myself improve incorporating their ideas. Thank you!

This is a great refresher video for me as I’ve been playing more Tekken 7 and haven’t played SF since 2016. Although I understood the concept of staggered poking (like two lights, walk up light) I never understood the concept of delaying my buttons on my frame advantage until recently in order to counterhit their mashing and delay teching. One of my friends usually mashes throw breaks after deep jumps in and so he loses to shimmy…or he mashes light punch to stop the shimmy after getting hit a few times.

Thank you for putting these out! It’s what feels like a video formatted version of Modern controls/defense for dummies (the book series). If a game has specifically these options then yes. Anime fighters have a faster pace and air dashes which tend to lead to less defense and more offense

Can you please do one on playing footsies in SF6 how you should approach playing neutral should you go for hit confirms should you try to whiff punish should you try to just walk and block then throw ?
@xenosuki Жыл бұрын
I don't get how shimmy is good for delay tech. Doesn't the grab only come out if you try to grab them?
@DenOfSin Жыл бұрын
Nope. The way you delay tech is literally block for a few frames then tech, hence the name. If they attack you with a fast button, you stay blocking and no tech comes out. If they throw or use a slower button, you tech or throw them. Either way you're still pressing the throw button, just ya know... delayed. Fun fact, when people first discovered delay teching in SF4 it was considered completely busted. It took a year or so for "The Gootecks Shimmy" to appear.

Normal tick throws from lights are not real in this game. Instead of delay teching you can just delay jab the throw attempt and you get a counter punish.
@Zahoops Жыл бұрын
I love the light hearted memes generated from the Modern control schemes lol. But seriously, if you're considering using Modern, go for it! Ease yourself into the game and then jump into classic when you feel like it. And maybe that's next week, next month of next year. This game will be around for potentially 5+ years, so no rush!

people just take the throw its only 1200dmg as opposed to on average 2550+ METERLESS DMG. would you rather guess and take 3000k-5k+ dmg. or take 1200. in this game its not worth throw tech delaying becuase of drive gauge combos PLUS the insane damage you get with punish counter in this game. a standard light confirm combo is around 1500 so id rather take 1200 dmg slowly, than guess wrong and let the person get free dmg. you still gain drive meter while being thrown so its worth just taking the throw and making the other person think. even in 1600s MR people dont go for throw loops. So lesson of the day is TAKE THE THROW IN THIS GAME (if youre in the corner ofc) dont let people bully you into getting unnecessary free damage
