Pantai Timur's (informally a label for the east coast states i.e. Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang) cuisine is generally speaking quite unique in its own taste, presentation & ingredients. Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Daging Opor/Rendang Pahang, Laksam, Otak-otak, Akok, Keropok Lekor are some of the famous ones. No other states in the Peninsular, East Malaysia or even other closely related region (culturally) like Sumatera come close in that respect (uniqueness in taste). I say this as a person who was born in KL, with heritage from Northern region, definitely without bias.

more days u spend in malaysia, will make u bigger....the specialty of malaysia is known as "FOOD HEAVEN". every single state in malaysia have their own traditional dishes. one more thing if you're still in terengganu or kelantan, I bet u should try "ketupat sotong" ( glutinous rice stuffed inside squid cooked with coconut milk). only kelantan and terengganu have it but with different way of cook. tq for your review to my lovely country & state...
