I own both....my biggest differences....The RG you have a feeling that the front tire is extended out further than you do on a SG, this is due to the nose being so much further out front...so the RG "feels" a lot longer than the SG. The RG, counter steering and handling are more confident, as you do not have that extra 40-50 lbs of weight on the bars. If you ride aggressive in turns a lot I think the RG is better...(I ride my RG a LOT harder in turns than I do the SG) as it gives me much more confidence, its more responsive to rider input and I assume this is because of the lack of weight attached to the upper part of the bars. The SG has a MUCH BETTER rider bubble with a much lower shield since its so much closer to the rider. I have a 6 inch shield on the SG and a 9 inch on the RG....the RG is WAY noisier than the SG...both my wife and I 100% can certify that there is far less wind noise and you can hear the stereo MUCH BETTER on the SG. People have always said that the SG gets blown around on the highway moreso than the RG and is affected more when passing trucks and what not.....for US this has absolutely NOT been the case....motorcycles are affected by wind, thats just the simple facts of it...I have not noticed the RG being any less affected than my SG by gusts of wind....if anything it affects me MORE on the RG as my SG has a much better rider bubble. Like you Tall, I have never had ANY issues on my SG on the highway at all....but then again I also ride a sportbike and a triumph bobber, which REALLY get blown around...all my Harleys feel way more planted on the highway than other bikes and I think that can be attributed to the massive increase in weight than any other bike I own. I do absolutely LOVE the additional front storage on the RG but I love the gauge layout WAY MORE on the SG (I HATE looking down to see my RPM on the RG). Is one better than teh other...I dont really think so, I think its all about rider preference and each has advantages and disadvantages when compared to each other. I like the RG when I am riding aggressively and I like the SG when I am doing long trips and relaxing. (My wife likes the SG more, as she hates the additional noise on the RG and I REFUSE to put a 14 inch screen on it as I simply hate the look of the tall screen). Have a GREAT HOLIDAY TALL!! Thank you so much for all you do Brother!! Have a blessed holiday season!

I forgot one other thing....attachments on the bars....with the SG, you can attach ANYTHING you want and you know immediately how it will react when riding, as the entire front end turns with you. With the RG, I ALWAYS consider how its going to react with my stereo and everything else and where the cords are going to go etc.... I guess its another reason why I would use the SG to tour with, as I like the drink holder, phone holder, and anything else people mount to the bars and plug in and not have to even remotely worry about it.

It doesn't matter if your front fairing is attached to the handlebars ir not. The fairing weight still sits on the front end of the bike just the same

I give you a + on the headlights...not taking anything away from the Street Glide, that is a plus...so yes, I give you that one...but the handling is truly different, as I have ridden both before I made my decision on going with the Road Glide, I came from a Kawasaki Ninja, so the fixed fairing is what I was use to, but, I did say but, I did give the Street Glide a chance to bring me into the Harley Davidson world as my first Harley Davidson, but the Road Glide won me over, due to the ride and the way it handled. So stay blessed Bro and keep on Gliding, soon to be Road Gliding...LOL 🤣🤣🤣

I tried both. Over and over. I bought the road glide special. It was the more open feel I liked better. I also liked the glove box for my iPhone. Both are great bikes. The headlights on the road glide are fantastic. I can see the ditches on both sides for deer. It just comes down to what fairing you want.

I’ve owned both. And both of them are great bikes. The SG feels planted to the ground. My bike didn’t shake when riding by trucks or in strong wind. The RGS is more comfortable. But that’s my opinion. You won’t be disappointed with either one. Harley Davidson has fined tuned these bikes to perfection. If you complain about ride quality with either one, you’re just looking for something to complain about. 💯💯💯👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🎯🎯🎯. I’m going to buy the Pan-American after the holidays and the Road King Special after that. Gotta mix it up.

Tall I went from a 17 ultra limited to a 21 roadglide limited. I am now a believer in the roadglide. Both bikes are nice, but this roadglide is just a bit more comfortable. 114 vs 107, this 21 is geared taller. Into a wind is better on the glide. The 21s are so smooth and powerful.

GOOD SHOW TALL !!!! That was about the best demo of the differences I have heard. And I agree 100%. I have owned both models and discovered that FOR ME the Street Glide was much more manageable. I never could get use to or comfortable with that shark nose fairing .... especially in tight or U-turns. I put about 10K miles on that 2015 Road Glide Special before I traded back to a Street Glide. The "fatique" issue you spoke was not noticeable by me at all. And most of my riding is long distance. Anyway I enjoyed your video .... THX ... as always for sharing !

I've ridden both for a number of years, but I prefer the Rushmore style Road Glide. It has an aggressive look and the dual headlamps makes riding a night or early morning no problem. The light is so wide, you don't have to turn your bike to see out to the sides (of course, you can always put some Custom Dynamics on it). As mentioned, the newer model also provides the handlebar controls instead of reaching for the radio like the older models. The biggest plus is the space to hold the call phone. As for the fixed fairing, I don't feel much of a difference unless the wind was really gusty. I'm not looking at tach/speedometers unless I really need to so placement of them is not an issue. Get out there and ride!! @TravelingTall @HarleyDavidson #MyHarleyTradition

Love my SGS. I chose it over the Road Glide for two reasons. One, I didn't like having to look down more on the RG to find the speedo and tach. Two, the handlebar position on the RG has your hands pulled back with knuckles off to the side vs the SG with more of a knuckles ahead position. Just more comfortable for me. Both are GREAT bikes.

Yeah, but no one rides stock bars anyhow...the biggest improvement to the handling and comfort of your bike will absolutely be bars that are built to put your arms and hands where you like them....it will MASSIVELY improve riding comfort and your ability to counter-steer....so I wouldn't even consider bar position at all when comparing the 2, as 90% of us will correct it.

I've owned both. I had a 2015 Road Glide special and ended up trading for a 2017 Street Glide Special when the M8 came out. I ultimately went back to the Road Glide Special and love my 2019 RGS. It's all individual preference but I definitely prefer the frame mounted fairing on the Road Glide. My only issue, and it's the same issue with all Harleys is the absolutely horrible stock radio. I ended up buying the Sony head unit and I would NEVER go back to a stock Harley unit.

As a new Harley owner, I opted for the Road Glide. My second choice (and it was VERY close) was a Road King. Last would have been a Street Glide. All great bikes! What made the difference for me? Aesthetics, purely aesthetics. The Road Glide won over the Road King because of the build-in navigation system. Even that was a bit of a toss-up, though, because I'd have an an add-on Garmin GPS needed for the Road King, and I like the Garmin functionality better. So, tough decision!

I currently have a Road Glide and a Road king. I have ridden an Ultra thousands of miles along with my Road Glide. Truthfully IMO there is not enough difference to be a big enough deal to get excited about. Test ride both and see what blows your skirt up. Your not going to make a mistake with either of them. I think for many it comes down to which one they think looks better and that's just fine. The Road king is far more fun on the backroads without all of the high positioned weight of the others. The Road King feels like a hot rod in comparison and is much easier to flick around and have fun with. If I could only have one it would be the Road King and I would make do as far as GPS and storage is concerned for trips. There are plenty of work arounds to make that happen.

I had 3 different SG from 2013-2019. Made switch to RG. Loved the SG, but enjoying the RG more. Biggest difference for me is the lighter feeling of steering on the RG. The headlights are only any issue when sitting still. You can aim them to look around on the SG. But when it motion the headlights are always going to be pointed in the direction the bike is traveling. It’s a non-issue.

Tall, I have the highest respect for your loyalty (to the Street Glide) and HD intellect. However, your obstinance and inflexibility are showing because we both know, that you know which is the better bike. Your attempt at demonstrating objectivity comparing the Street Glide and the Road Glide is very good ... but the disingenuity is peeking through. Keep the Street Glide but get the bike that we all know you really want to have, the Road Glide. Your Street Glide friends and family will get over it!

When Bambi totaled my Road King, I knew I was going to go Street Glide or RG. I rented each. Took it to the mountains on consecutive weekends in Western NC & rode the well known roads in the area. Rode the Interstate for 4 hours before getting to me destination. (Maggie Valley) Both were pretty much the same to me. Nothing magical & so called "better handling" of the RG. So I would buy either & ended up buying an Ultra Limited. I prefer the dash of the Batwing way more than the Shark, although I prefer the look of the Shark from the front.

First let me say, that I have never ridden a Street Glide. That being said I've ridden over 100,000 miles on a RoadGlide. Once you are counter steering the headlights remain straight ahead.

Bat wing wins hands down for myself, i look at the speedometer and tachometer way more then the navigation screen so having them above works great for me. I don't believe the myths about the differences between the fixed vs bar mounted, both work fine. The twin headlights are a definite plus but that can be fixed with a light bar or as i did lights mounted to the guards from the H.D. parts catalog. Then some light stays forward and some turn with the bars. I prefer the looks of the bat wing but that is 100% opinion. It's really awesome that they (Harley Davidson) make both 😎 video Tall... good luck with the itch to trade for the sharknose 😂😂😂 it will drive you 😤

I've had both, and the RG rides like a dream on the expressway, superb! But can't go wrong with either one. I do like the SG as well, it's more compact of a cruiser like I said, can't go wrong with either one. Honestly, I prefer the SG due to me being a shorter type of guy at 5'6" and it's easier to reach the touch screen panel, etc.. Both bikes are good, extremely good.. Oh also, you don't feel any buffering on the RG when passing trucks, semis, etc. On the SG you may feel a bit, but it all depends on how you ride and how you keep your distance from whatever vehicle you are passing. But the SG passed through anything without feeling a bit of any buffering...

Having had a 2014 Ultra Limited, and currently a 2018 Road Glide Ultra, the Road Glide is a better touring bike than any batwing in my opinion, and especially if you're north of 6' tall.

👍🏾 Very nice, Tall! 🦇 Wing guy here and I always will be. Never really like the look of the fairing in the RG. Plus as you mentioned, everything sits too far back. I’mma stick with the SG. Keep Glidin’ and have a blessed day. Yo! L.D.

I agree the wind argument isn't really noticeable. Also the headlight being able to turn only helps when you are sitting still. When you are moving you aren't actually turning the handle bars enough to , make a difference. I don't use GPS or listen to music when I ride so neither system makes a difference to me. I like the way the gauges are on the Street more than the Road personally. Both good looking bikes and it would be a hard pick between the two, but I prefer the looks just a bit more on the Street.

Great review on both bikes, I'm partial to the Street Glide, I like the fact that the head light turns with the handle bars, like you mentioned. 👍

One thing I did notice when deciding on mine, and it's very small, is that at very low speed 5 or Less MPH in cornering you do feel the weight of the batwing over the weight of the glide. Now that being said, I do have to drive down a gravel road everyday that has deep spots and just straight up holes. I agree that I do feel more open on my RG, I was in between a RG and a Ultra Classic, and I just felt less cramped for space. Only watched a few videos of yours but will be definitely checking out more. I spotted where you were at Bootlegger in Knoxville and was like hey! I know that place. Maryville myself SMH-D!, I do got to go to BL to get the last of my local HD poker chips. Would be cool to meet you and talk about this topic and do some riding!

Traded my 11 SG for the 21 RG special, less buffeting and more "clean" wind i think but i love them both.

@TT It feels like you never see my responses to my enjoyment of your channel, but whateva... I am a 5'02" female rider and I can assure you that I road tested both before my decision. The RG is not only HEAVIER because of the FAIRING (25 pounds extra), but you can ACTUALLY feel this before you even let go of the clutch. I challenge all riders to put bike in ready-go position to prove the difference of weight- can't deny the difference unless one is in total denial. Your EXACT description of weight shift from picking up the bike is dead-on. You truly can feel the weight affect EVERYTHING from stop to slow maneuvering is the reason why law enforcement as well as instructors specifically use the Street Glides. The difference is a matter of physics is what makes the Street Glide a safer and easier ride for BOTH a short person like me to a tall person like you. It's also a huge bonus to have all gauges within a short reach and short visible sight all within inches vs a huge lean into the dash of a RG. Overall, the Street Glide not only has historical nostalgia and practicality... it's also a sexier looking machine. Wind has ZERO affect when I compared both on the freeway. I will say that I love the look of the younger generation's look of the T-bars on the RG!

None is better than the other. It depends on your taste in style, riding style, type of travel, etc. I have a SG and love it. I prefer the bat wing. 🔥🔥✌🏽

I have owned both a 15 RG and my current 20 SG. Between the two I prefer my SG. It took a little longer to get the buffeting under control than it did on my RG. I put on a set of lowers and the frying pan under the lower triple tree. It took 3 tries to find the perfect shield for this combination but I now have it so that I am in a nice calm pocket. The SG protects your hands much better in cold climates like I am in. The RG left the outer half of my hands out in the cold wind. Handling wise I find the SG better. I don't feel the weight on the bars unless I am at a full stop. I found the RG to be more top heavy due the the fact the frame mounted fairing weighs much more than the batwing. I have put about 25,000 miles on my SG in the last two seasons and I don't get any fatigue from the bars. Sounds like a great fairy tale to me, I find it no different on long trips than my RG. The RG does have better storage and headlights. I changed my SG headlight to an LED, the stock one sucks. For looks I like the batwing better. In the end they are both great bikes and it pretty much comes down to which you like the looks of more.

Another great video, Tall. I have heard from many people, that it is easier with a RG versus a SG in heavy wind, passing trucks, etc.. i’ll be honest, that has never been a factor with me either. Having big trucks ride by, heavy winds, is a little louder on my helmet when they passed, but I don’t get shaking for unsteadiness at all. Never has been an issue.

I agree. The idea of a fairing mounted to the forks being a problem in the wind is nonsense.

I have a 2015 Electra limited and 07 RG. Bat Wing definitely better wind protection but then I put lowers on the RG and now thinking about trading Ultra for RG Limited. Lowers made all the difference as far as wind noise. Can hear music so much better and can wear a cap turned the right way and it won’t blow off.

When I first got into motorcycles I knew I wanted a Harley. At first, I couldn’t stand the look of their touring bikes with fairings and ended up buying a Fatboy. Within six months I realized I needed storage and comfort for long distance riding. I purchased a 22 RGS and could not be happier. I couldn’t get use to the SG’s ugly batwing front end and feel the RG much more comfortable especially for taller riders.
