Check out my video titled "Street Photography Liverpool: Mad Friday", where my friend and I dive into the chaotic atmosphere of the holiday season!
Mad Friday, just three days before Christmas, was bustling with activity. The energy was palpable, with most workers on break and shoppers in a frenzy to check off their lists. Whether it's the last-minute rush or the anticipation of festivities, the streets were alive with excitement.
Amidst this madness, my friend Mali and I saw an opportunity to capture the moment's essence. Split into two parts, the video documents our adventure throughout the day and into the night.
WATCH PART II • NIKON Zf - CONFRONTATI...
Part 1 follows me as I navigate the daytime hustle, aiming to freeze-frame the bustling scenes around me. Meanwhile, in Part 2, I join forces with Mali as we delve into the nightlife, capturing the spirited revellers well into the early hours.
Mali's trial of the new Nikon ZF camera was an important aspect of our endeavour, particularly its performance in low-light conditions. To thoroughly test its capabilities, we collaborated on this video. Thus, while filming in Part 2 was done by me with my Nikon Z8, all the stunning images were captured using Mali's ZF.
We hope you enjoy the video and invite you to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I have such fond memories already of this night, there's more than just the bellend to all this. Firstly, putting everything to do with photography to one side, for you to meet-up after everything you’d been through and to go out together at Christmas, shows the testament to the person you are my good pal! Really enjoyed this, a street playlist is needed for our outings. Belter buddy! Where’s next?

There was two of you! and that helps.....you done a great job recording all this stuff and I have told Mali that was a great video but there is a learning curve here which any photographer should take in, it is not always wise to wonder around any busy city at night taking pictures on your own, I live in Birmingham and even taking pictures of the Christmas stuff that was going on there last December had its limitations, there is always somebody who does not want their picture taken, then it leads to other things often with stuff that you are not guilty of, of course if the police are then called and jobsworth turns up a massive problem is about to happen. I could write 100s of things about this subject. To-days City's are much different to the ones we grew up in. Take care in this very much changing world. Thank you for showing us your half of the video......Shooting landscapes is much safer!

Such a pity that you were challenged like that. I am originally from the Wirral and flew back last year to photograph the city. It is so photogenic. Particularly around the Albert Dock People were so friendly and interested in what I was doing I have to go back again with my partner as she is so annoyed to miss it. Maybe not just before Christmas though. I did get challenged in Manchester by private security round the North tower as it was private land but they were very civil and pointed out the best places i could shoot. Anyway love the videos so far and will be watching more, I found it with the Mach aircraft video looking for some advice on an airshow this weekend but also notice the fine art videos which i had a try at after a trip to Venice earlier in the year.

Excellent as always! I too am in my advanced years and have no desire to take my camera away from my eye to shoot. Totally different energies. My opinion is that those who like to spray and pray have no issues in their cameras not contacting their eye. That eye contact creates a more intense concentration. Was that Ally Sherlock singing "Hallelujah"?

I don't have an interest in street photography other than as a comparison between older times. I sometimes wish I'd taken photo's of our town, roads and railway from the 70's, maybe the same shots every ten years to see how things and people change.

I believe I asked your partner in crime this question and figure I will ask you the same thing, during street photography, do you run into a lot of people who are obnoxious about you taking pictures of them or in their area? If so, what do you do if they demand you delete their photo?

You have to be brave to go out and street photography in a city centre at night. Funny thing is that I have found that although I mainly do videos of Blackpool pubs & clubs at night, it's when I do stills photography that I get the most hassle. It may be that I am more obvious in taking pictures, or maybe using a tripod that makes me stand out? Nice to see Mali, I have met up with him a few times on Photography outings.

This is why audits became big as photographers were always told not allowed by people who are clueless. I agree it can be a hassle but it really shoutout be that way. The culture in this country now is toxic. We need to address it. Just my 2 cents.

Great topic, funny how many people have issue with us photographing with a DSLR in or around public, seems to draw too much attention. Meanwhile there are 8.5 billion people on the planet, approx 80% of them have cell phones with cameras that take millions of pictures an hour in city’s all over the world without notice.

I appreciate the settings. I usually shoot in manual but I miss a lot of things. I'll have to try TV mode. So many gorgeous photos! I love street photography! At 4:08 I had to stop and go check out the Mexican food from "La Parrilla Mexican Tapas Bar and Grill" and safe to say, not much of it looks like Mexican food. They don't eat chili nor bbq in Mexico. It's more of an English take on Tex Mex food.

10:15 @Gary Gough This is a Romanian tradition called “Capra” - The Goat, which is a pastoral ritual dance. During the dance, the goat dies and comes back to life, symbolizing the death and revival of nature that takes place during and after winter. The rich colors that cover the goat represent the rich colors of spring. It is very similar to the tradition in Wales, Mari Lwyd, which involves a horse’s skull. Great video as always! Thank you Gary 👍

I have to make this hopefully constructive criticism before I unfollow you. Unfortunately almost exclusively photo and video channels will start off with voice audio then *BLAST OUT* their music at several times louder which if you watch videos later at night easily Pees off the neighbours. The other problem is if the music has been played once the chance of it being used again in the same video is really high so I dare not get caught out again. Thankfully I don't wear headphones. Anyway its been interesting following you for so many years but my tenancy comes before YT videos.
@L.Spencer
@L.Spencer 7 ай бұрын
I noticed the music was loud in my headphones, but I think youtube overall is a big offender, when they play ads in the middle of videos that are much louder than the video was. I don't see why they can't even out the sound better. I remember that used to be a problem with the television, until they made it so that the tv channels had to even out the sound. (In the US)
