You might know this already ben but a nice tip with microwaves is keep the plates and holder aside and sell separately or in lots of 10 or something, we bought one secondhand once when our plate broke. Id give them a hot soak though.

Did my own version of a street scrap run yesterday. We have "bulky pickup" every other week here. I got a good laugh as I was cutting cords, collecting fans and the odd TV. My best find was a stack of extruded Al. We have a lot of screen enclosures over pools and back decks here. Someone tore theirs down and put the Al frames out for collection. No PC's or DVD's :-)

Rain's not going to stop Ben!!! Not bad considering the weather. I remember this very well from when it was first put out last July. The curved tv was pretty cool, because a few months before in March I got my 1st one. I was about 4 houses down when the people where taking it to the curb. When I saw it was a curved tv I was stoked, it was a very rich neighborhood that was notorious for putting electronics to the curb that worked, probably because they update alot and don't care about money. When I got it home I looked up size and date. It was only 16 months from the date of assembly, and it was faulty. The boards inside were not impressive at all. GREAT to see you work in the rain. It shows your passion for what you love to do!!!! 👍👍

I hit up the northern section of the area yesterday afternoon after I met you at the scrap yard. Plenty of cords and electronics out early on. Then the white van brigade hit a little later in the arvo and pickings were slim and cords cut.

I agree with you, with the exception of the cords a vacuum takes to much time to scrap and just are not worth it. I knew one guy once that would throw them in a trailer with everything else and he would even cut the springs out of mattresses and get the steel from recliners and the couches with recliners and even hideabeds, that is too extreme for me. He made three trips a day to the scrap yards and that was how he made his living. I am just not physically able to do that.

If you could get you a 12 20 16 foot flat bed trailer with side boards you could throw your scrap steel into it and keep the space in the van for your other stuff and that could give you more content for your videos as well, that is if you could pick one up for a good price and have room to park it that is. I hope to get me a trailer before too long. You could load it up once a day and run buy the scrap yard to sell and it would pay for itself pretty quick and gas as well, hey just saying.

Do a video about the curved TV scrapping, it may be a youtube first, but you will need to take it apart down the all the screen layers to get the video really interesting.
@eWasteBen6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, It would be interesting to see what makes up the screen and whether it's any different to a regular screen.

It no big deal and I know you have explained it but it just bothers me every time you don't scrap the TV's with the CRTs in them because I am unable to scrap at this time and here in the USA they have really good scrap value, it's kind of an OCD thing with me but I still enjoy the videos so keep them coming.

@canadianrecycler84306 жыл бұрын
eWaste Ben I noticed your not into getting copper, I can scrap a fan in five minutes and a TV in five but you leave them. In other videos you say you sell copper ingot on ebay for six times the amount? Why not take the time to scrap those on the spot for the copper ? Love the videos but im one of us that yells at my computer when you leave a fan of tv.
@eWasteBen6 жыл бұрын
Fan motors are too much work to get the little copper, I take CRT monitors for good copper, tv's are a bit messy to do on the street, it creates a scene, but I do get my share of tv's through the week doing regular pick ups so I got enough, But if I see a Sony I might scrap it out for better value copper, I do have a large stockpile of copper for melting too.
@canadianrecycler84306 жыл бұрын
Your doing a great job, but I will still yell at my computer when you dont pick up a fan or scrap a T.V. Yelling from Canada so you should be able to hear me fine. Cheers I going to the bar right now and my first drink will be too copper
