All that VCRs, especially DVD/VCR combos that you strip of cords and decide to leave the rest at the curb, are actually worth reselling in Australia. The sell through rate on Ebay is above 50% and the prices are as high as $100+ when the remote and AV cable are included in the offer.

Where I live (in Florida) I never see scrap. I think it's because people get fined by the state for littering. I tried to put my old Oven by the roadside, so someone could take it, and a guy in a state vehicle gave me a warning.

I've never seen a neighborhood so full of trash before. I think it's because here in Florida, if you do that, you get written up by the state for littering. Even on a private street. Kinda sad seeing you snip wires off stuff, but I get why. Copper. It's just if I came by there to salvage a TV or a Monitor, I'd stop to investigate, then I see the wire snipped, and I'd leave it rather than connect a new one for something I have no idea if it even works.

The difference is in America we have trash pickup every single week hard waste solid waste food waste etc.... But in Australia they only have solid waste pick up a couple times a year where they pick up TVs, furniture, appliances etc. That's why you never see him digging through trash cans filled with old food because this pickup is specifically for solid waste items like appliances and the places where pick them up rotate to different cities. So it builds up for like a year before it's tossed.
@TheUniversalEyes2 жыл бұрын
You're lucky you can scrap circuit boards in Australia, here in the USA, no one is buying them. PC's are everywhere, but all we get for them is sheet steel prices and whatever copper wire is in them. Every week I put over 20 computers to the curb for people to pick up, I'd love to be able to sell the boards in them.
