"You never know what you can find!" There's the truth of it! Many times I do nothing but tidy up a garbage pile a bit while poking through. Every once in a while I find a real treasure, for example that someone decided to have their entire plumbing system torn out and replaced, including the underground pipe! The pile of thick (type L indoor, K outdoor) pipe, along with all the fixtures which were lovely nickel/chrome plated brass, made my truck squat low to the ground. To make sure nothing went awry, I crept along slowly to bring it home before resuming the hunt. I've seldom been that happy driving so slow. It was a good day!

Haha well there is timing for you, I'm currently clearing a 12birth caravan that is full and hasn't been touched for 20/30 years. So many goodies hidden amongst the rubbish! Anyway, yesterday I took a load of those cushions to the recycling centre, so I recognise that the cushions by that beautiful unicorn are caravan cushions so you'll see some more in my next video😄

15:00 Ben, as much as old PC's for their e-waste scrap value means to you, the same can be said about old clothing for a seamstress, the price of everything going up including fabric, and believe it or not there are still a lot of women and men for that matter, that are making good money on the side making teddy bears, clothing and such out of recycled fabric. edit: speaking of seamstress 22:10 who knows one might even find a date while street scraping hahaha She seemed like a nice enough lady clearly she alone or she would have dragged her man out to haul that sofa thing loll

It's good to see you've still got areas where the council has hard rubbish collections that don't require pre-booking, as so many councils now do which means a lot less stuff out at any one time for scrappers. Make the most of it while you can.

Someone in my complex threw some appliances away so I managed to get some cord. Will spend the evenings casually stripping them for copper.

Copper wasn't able to break through it's 10 year high and in the last two week it set in a downtrend. Has many resistances on the way down and may bounce(reverse) on one of them. Maybe Ben finds a crystal ball and can tell us ;) Thanks for the entertainment.

It would be interesting to have you do an equivalent value by volume of the different scrap types. Like, one kilo of cord food compared to the same value of scrap metal compared to the same value of modem/PC, to really show value by weight/volume in the van of what you've picked up.

@@jonglewongle3438 lol, a tonne of scrap steel is exactly the same weight as the tonne of clean New Bright Copper Wire or aluminium. The point is value per volume, how much £££££ you can get from cubic feet/meter of one or the other or third... Lol, no brained 🤣🤣🤣

Their is no market for second hand ? I saw so much stuch I can use in my house ! Landfield must be happy... Here in France, you have to recycle all what you can, wood, metals, glass, bulbs... At the entrance of the landfield, they ask if you have something that can be fixed for the second hand market. Nice vid, it's allways interesting to see what people toss away. Thx for the entertainement !

One microwave left, then one taken - I think. Depends on how the load is progressing. I picked up a microwave today. Going for the aluminium foil from a hairdresser's wheely bin, some fool had left a microwave in the wheely bin. Probably the hairdressers themselves. And there was a Kmart trolley just around the corner. So, okay, done deal. I have no intention of scrapping it out or ever becoming a scrapper. Gonna have it run out to Simsmetal, as is, and observe myself getting nothing for it. I'm getting out of recycling altogether other than collecting aluminium foil. I'm a recovering container deposit collector. I give up.

Prices may be going down when you look at a 30-day chart, sure. Copper for certain, aluminum has a similar spike and back to "the norm". Look at a one or five year chart, though. Copper was US$2.80/lb a year ago, and is US$4.18 now. Aluminum was US$0.72/lb a year ago, and is US$1.08 now. They're down from a recent peak, but hardly down when you look at the big picture, and demand remains very strong indeed.
