A large crowd for a street “takeover” event did more than just disrupt traffic Saturday night in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers responded to the event around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Western and Elliott avenues. A department spokesperson told KOMO News around 150 cars and 500 people were “in and around the intersection.”
“I had no clue. It just kept going high RPM like roar roar, so I didn’t come out because I ain’t the type of guy who wants to go out and participate in type those types of activities, but you know I did hear the noise,” Nathan Jackson told KOMO. He lives in an apartment, just steps from the intersection where drivers were doing burnouts and spinning donuts.
