As a German, regarding Italian Cars opening up sound-wise at lower Speed and German Cars at higher Speed is something i never thought about. Why? Because we got the Autobahn here, so i automatically think of "opening up" when i go on the Autobahn. I can see it being annoying if you can't fully open up (at least legally) but maybe German Cars do that later because it has the Autobahn in Mind and didn't think of Countries with Speed Limits. But that's just a Guess since i never thought about it. Though i must also add that there are German Cars who do that, but not that many Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps

I've got a 70 series V8 single cab LandCruiser ute (Aussie) and although it's a beast... I don't love it. I have it because I really need it and it does fill a role that not many other vehicles could get done with such ease. But it hasn't always been the most reliable thing, we've had a few very expensive repairs over the five years I've owned it (despite being exceptionally well looked after) and God damn is she thirsty when you ask her to work. I wouldn't recommend the diesel V8 unless you really need it, they're super expensive to buy and to run and it's my least favourite vehicle to drive... Unless I'm going somewhere that I really have to take the 'Cruiser, well I don't. I could sell it if I didn't need it. I love my 2000 AU Falcon ute though. Bought her for $5000 as a stop gap "get me to work" car. She's done 530,000ks and considering I do work her pretty hard, she still runs like a clock. It's the most reliable car I've ever had, it's so comfortable to drive on the road and I use it to tow all the time. I'm never gonna sell it, it's an ex government "poverty pack" fleet vehicle and I never expected to love it so much. I wanna do a 10 second sleeper turbo build, keeping the plastic roo bar, povo pack interior and canopy, but build the intech to 400kw+. It's funny how certain cars can worm their way into your heart and you end up becoming attached to them. I love that cheap old Falcon, I don't need it anymore, but I'll never sell it. The LandCruiser though, well I do need it... But it's never made me love it.

Thing is with the Mini John Cooper Works GP cars, the first and second gen cars were great because they were focussed on what they were trying to achieve and were successful at it; the third one tried to follow the same formula but had a very mixed result and lot of issues. The biggest issue was, like the Nissan Z Nismo, it was auto only and due to that, it was still really quite heavy for what it is; granted it was a good amount lighter than a normal Mini JCW by 70kgs, but it was only 6kgs lighter than a Ford Fiesta ST and only 25kgs lighter than the Toyota GR Yaris which has four-wheel drive. And both are decked out with all the seats and stuff in place, some of which are removed from the Mini. It was also more expensive than either cars; yes it was faster but not by a dramatic amount, especially next to the GR Yaris which was effectively its closest rival in terms of power, performance and pricing.

I had 1 of 3 vehicles in the state...if I'd known what it would be now I wouldn't have used a crowbar to "undent" the passenger side (78%) or sitting in the water being one of 3 in the state, climbing out the sunroof because it was a GXL....America never got the best model..
