About Invisible People
There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Our groundbreaking educational content reaches millions of people every month. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

I remember when I first moved to San Francisco. I was angry at the homeless people who had pets -- "How can they care for pets if they can;t care for themselves", I thought. But the animals were the most important thing in the world for some of them. I contacted the city shelter, and worked with them to set up a mobile vet clinic that went around to the public parks in the city where homeless people hung out, to help the street animals, and I gave out free dog and cat food to the homeless people for their animals.

Are these homeless people criminals? To all the righteous tax paying home owners judging these people, it could happen to you. It happened to us, none of us are addicts, we are law abiding citizens, my daughter was a security guard. But greedy, irresponsible owners and agents put us out by not maintaining one home, and judging me as too old at 70, to live in the country in my home. My family and their cat were placed in a shelter, where meth had been cooked and sold but when my daughter got cancer, and I was terminated by my entitled, controlling owners, I decided to spend my tiny inheritance and all move in together so I could care for my daughter. It has been a nightmare but we have the joy and comfort of two cats to keep us going. Bless this vet and these people and their pets. A little kindness goes a long way. From Australia, the not so lucky country.

I literally hate those that say one should NOT have an animal if no money......that pet means the world to them... it is their family and their everything. I guarantee you that they put their pets first before anyone or anything even themselves. And in this day and time i would say more people than not are just one lost payday or a few before becoming homeless themselves. Times are hard, people are hurting show Mercy and Grace like Jesus asks us each to do because there go I but for the Grace of God. No man or woman stands the tallest as the one who kneels to lend a helping hand to another in real need. The next one could be you or me on the streets needing help.😢😢😢

Thank you for being the truly decent human being that you are. Helping these people to care for their beloved animals (who SO very often are rescuing each other) when they are experiencing such upheaval and hardship is a truly wonderful thing. Thank you for giving people in tough situations their dignity back. Very often, these people's animals are their sanity, their lifeline. I do know that people finding themselves in such dire circumstances will often go without so that they can at least feed their beloved animals. What you do to help as a vet speaks volumes. You have true integrity. I am grateful these people and their fur-family/ies have you to make such a beautiful difference in their lives.😊❤✌🏽🐕‍🦺🐈‍⬛🦮🐈🐕🐱🐶🐩💛💗🩵🧡💚❤️🩷💚🤍♥️💓💙💜🤎💞💕🐾😘👏🙏👏🙏👏🙏👏🙏👏🙏

I have really mixed emotions about this. I’ve never seen this particular vet going out to the homeless to take care of the animals. But obviously he’s very consistent so it probably knows which animals need what kind of help. It’s just a horrible situation all the way around. Thank you for doing what you can do for the animals of the homeless.

When you're down to rock bottom, and you've lost almost everything, a dog will keep you alive, and give you some hope. They're saving these dogs, and the dogs are giving them hope to continue living. The conditions are far from ideal, for the people and their pets, but you can't knock a man for needing a dog in those conditions, and you can't knock a dog for needing a man, even a homeless man. May God have mercy on those on skid row, both man and beast, in the name of Jesus Christ. Send your angels to the city of fallen angels, Holy One of Israel, mighty one of Jacob. Amen. John 3:16 Let their be a revival at the last stop. Amen. Amen. Amen. 🕊

Okay I’m going to go out and say from personal experience with pet non of the shelter would except them unless they have the paperwork for a emotionally pet then you can get into a shelter but they would rather stay on the streets with there pets but I have to ask you do you really think they are happy on the streets 😢I have never given up but it was my dog patches that was keeping me on the streets of being homeless and so I was a tough situation but why is a shelter giving puppy to the homeless people that don’t make sense non of them deserve too be out in the heat and neither do the homeless but I know it would be really tough but you have to let them go 😢because they deserve air conditioning and four solid walls
