kid and play deserve all their flowers. What I respect about them the most is that they came from hard backgrounds and had rough lives. But! They still rapped about positivity and enjoying life, unlike most rappers around that point, even to this day. House Party 1990 is a classic, you can watch that movie to this day and still enjoy it. 2 & 3 tbh not so much. I did see their cartoon series on youtube, but at times I couldn't hear anything, due to the audio being so low. I wonder how a house party tv series would have been if will smith didn't reject the movie offer?

Word. You wouldn't know listening to their music that Play used to be a stick-up kid that kept a sawed-off in his sheepskin lol. That Kid 'n Play cartoon was one of the highlights of my kindergarten year. No 🧢 lol.

This had me question….. Kid N Play hot they were fun clean and cool and wasn’t criticized at all; But when MC Hammer did his thing, he got criticized for being a sell out and being too clean.

My fellow Boom Bappers.....you can't front, when "Kid n' Play" first dropped "Gettin' Funky" yo, that cut was amazing. They took the "Bar Kay's (Holy Ghost)" "Bobby Byrd" & a few other samples over a hype 80's.drums made you bop your head.....like they said on a verse on that sound perfectly described them....the music "It Ain't Hardcore But It Ain't Soft"....You had a tall goofy looking mix kid with a tree stomp of a "High Top Fade". Then you had smooth debonair guy with the raspy voice. The group may not look like it would make sense.....but I can say they really did in a major way. Then you add the fact.that both could dance....now you know you in trouble.....After there success off of "House Party" movies. I remember how Rap fans was criticising them for not being hardcore & angry like there competition. But I never say them as being corny or wack.....I saw them as the fun party rappers that gave us a break off the Africentric, braggadocios, James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, Zapp sampled Rap artist. So on that note....I want to give them there Diamond Cut Mic.... 🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤

I remember The Cosby Show and I remember Kid N Play. Cosby wasn't #1 on NBC because of street love. I'd say there was way more dancing and way less shooting back then. The irony is their music and image is too soft for posers.

@@musiclover-cn7tb Most 80s rappers hid the street resume. That stuff wasn't a big part of they music. Slick Rick, BDK and Rakim had the sense to play down the rep and rely on ability and vision.

I don't know WHO came up with that term 😕( Giving them they flowers ) it sounds technical and completely OFF ..! Especially when in reference towards (MEN) Sounds Like your in preparation for someone's funeral. Paying HOMAGE or Giving GRATITUDE 🤔 sounds 🙏 way more HONORABLE .
@donguapisimo4222
@donguapisimo4222 Жыл бұрын
It’s a figurative reference that has been around a LONG time in Hiphop. It fits perfectly. Instead of waiting until people are literally dead to have their contributions recognized posthumously, they get the “flowers” that would be placed on their grave while they’re living so they can take in the love people had for them and their accomplishments. It’s a brilliant concept.
