Best Ska band if all time. Just pure energy. I've seen them every time they've come to Cleveland since 2008. Every show is insane. Everyone needs to go see them

Bro I just love all the comments geeking out over Streetlight Manifesto because SAME. Like ska is so niche but great and these guys are so next level that there's just a bond every Streetlight fan has and basically feels Obligated to talk about. Can't recommend enough that you go to a live show, they're on tour right now and it's the best live show I've ever been to.

@@mintjulius275same. I've been to a lot of cool shows, but the energy at a Streetlight Manifesto show has yet to be matched.

Most people would label them as a third-wave ska punk band, but that's honestly very debatable amongst their fans and even themselves. They have a song titled Riding the Fourth Wave for a reason, and in my opinion, their song "With Any Sort of Certainty" off of their album THE HAND THAT THIEVES has a solo breakdown that is their idea of what the fourth-wave could possibly sound like in the future. Probably in another ten years they'll be labeled something like Post Ska or Post Third Wave or even Proto-Fourth Wave or whatever they eventually call the musical evolution that they are clearly and very aggressively pushing takes hold in the younger generation of musicians that they've inspired.

If you really dug this song I cannot recommend enough seeing them live. Their shows are easily some of the best shows I've ever been to.

Great reaction. Yes, Streetlight is a third wave ska band--in my opinion the definitive example of third wave ska-punk and its musical potential. They have evolved/developed/grown their sound over the years, especially with the album this song is featured on and the one that followed it. Their earlier work is more of what you're probably thinking of as "traditional" third-wave ska so check out either Everything Goes Numb or Keasbey Nights for that. Btw Streetlight's Keasbey album is a rerecording of the same album by the band Catch-22, which was the prior band for Tomas (Streetlight's singer/principle songwriter) and two other Streetlight members. Every album is great. Pretty much every song is great. Tomas is a brilliant songwriter. They also have associated acts like Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution (BOTAR) and Toh Kay, Tomas's solo acoustic project where he reworks his songs. Streetlight is the only band I recommend every music lover to see live, regardless of musical taste. They are such great musicians that I think anyone can appreciate something they do and the energy of their shows is unlike anything I've ever experienced. I've seen them 5 times and will be seeing them a 6th in the fall. Absolutely amazing band.

Thank you for realizing this isn’t ska! Their earlier work had some ska vibes mixed in with the punk, and they still throw that vibe in every now and then, but their sound has evolved so much over time, and now they feature more of an Eastern European vibe (think Gypsy music) than anything, as well as influences from many different global cultures.

"...now they feature more of an Eastern European vibe (think Gypsy music)..." Splitting hairs I suppose, but I think it sounds more Klezmer than Balkan.

Go with studio unless you are there live. Studio is so good. But catch a live show. Best show of the year.
