Hey Scotty that is a grinding wheel ie angle grinder stops all the bumping also better finish and never grind across a weld use a flat wheel and follow the weld takes longer but much better finish
@justanotherguy96644 жыл бұрын
That's a bloody neat job, all things considered. The only comment I have - maybe ditch the flange plates and use 3" stainless 'lap joints (as in, "overlap" - get the exhaust pipes expanded to slip over the collectors and then fit the stainless bands). They seal better, and take up less room (plus more ground clearance).
@adrianmorison4 жыл бұрын
Geez mate, your pretty good with the welder 😷😷😷
@7071t64 жыл бұрын
Mate why not just expand the collector, with pipe expanding tool ,that way you can then slide the pacemaker end straight into the collector. :)
@STREETMACHINETV4 жыл бұрын
You can only expand therm so far. I think we came up with a pretty solid result.
@mawe424 жыл бұрын
screw in an old lambda sensor or plug in the O2 bung before welding it in, then it wont distort that much. They can get very tight otherwise.

Never seen that in years of welding o2 bungs
@BigRevKev824 жыл бұрын
It's good practice tho and also stops spatter in the thread
@anomamos90954 жыл бұрын
Old spark plugs work for that too.
@jaysedamiani90324 жыл бұрын
Actually never have the threads bunged up while welding, if it shrinks with the bung in place it'll lock up and you will be stuck with a bung in the hole and you'll have to cut it out and start again.
@anomamos90954 жыл бұрын
Jayse Damiani . Never happens Except for actually welding the threads, the reason you put something in it is to prevent the bung from warping etc. if you’re worried about it getting stuck use never seize and don’t tighten it with more than your fingers. If you do manage to warp the bung to the point of not being able to remove the plug you have done such a shit job of welding that you’d need to scrap it and try again anyway.

Lessons in how to do things the hard way. Cutting the collectors off was unnecessary. Cutting at the point where the collectors joined the smaller tube with the flange was all that was needed. Then either a larger tube could have been fitted or if you have a local exhaust shop the collectors could have been swaged out to fit an even larger tube. This is because the collectors were the same size as the replacements they had just been swaged down at the ends.
@STREETMACHINETV4 жыл бұрын
Well yeah, but Pacemaker sent out these nicely swaged collectors, it would be rude not to use them.
