Yeah, the steel pipe noise from Streets of Rage 2 is my favourite sound effect of all time. So much weight and power behind it! Endlessly satisfying. Fortunately, that exact sound effect can be heard if you play as one of the Streets of Rage 2 characters in this game, so it's not the end of the world.

seems like an easy thing to patch the og sound effect in as an option, or just make a modern one with heft. game looks great for what it is, certainly a lot of people will be tempted for the right price. this one makes me think of stuff i knew i was going to buy for sure just on sale like castlevania anniversary collection etc. every thing is good just need the right pice. will support this for sure, looks great versus stuff like double dragon neon. which was weak phoned in sauce.

It is almost perfect video game. I am 42 years old and play this one with my son 5 years old together . We both enjoy the game. The Control mechanism is low learning curve and easy to get it on playing. The graphic design is fantastic and we all dig it the American street Cartoon style drawing .

Quick note - Adam has a Dash feat which makes the game a lot more easier when need to close that gap. Also, this game has two boss characters that should be DLC playable characters because they are so fun and frustrating to fight against it makes you wish to control them.

Great review! You have to put the time into this game and start learning how to S rank and focus on using any move you can to avoid getting hit. Link huge combos and also link rooms. My record was 302 hits but I've seen over 500 hits online. I've logged 260 hours into my switch version. One of the most polished games I've seen. Possibly my favourite game of all time

Beat the game on normal, and hard already yesterday. My only complaints are how "invincible" the enemies can be. They can knock you out of every one of your moves minus the super special.

The game's price is confirmed at $25. It features 12 levels and a battle mode with unlockables for replay value. Why in the name og God would you want a game to be short?! That makes absolutely no sense to me at all. I want less content for my money. I would prefer this game feature the same amount of content the Streets of Rage Forever indy game. It featured every level in the entire series, tons of unlockables, different settings, mod support, music from every game with the ability to play as any version of the main characters you prefer. Want to play as Axel from 3 on the first games levels with updated visuals...you can. What's more, the game was totally free to play. Hell, this should feature a level editor so you can build your own levels. Ask more for your money not less.

Sinn0100 more content isn’t necessarily better. I’d prefer a short game that I mostly enjoy, as opposed to a long game that I somewhat enjoy. Shovel knight is a short game that I loved, fallout 4 is a long game that I put up with.

@@pct87 That's assuming the game isn't great...Stalker for PC, Final Fantasy 6/7/10/Half Life 1/2, Metro Exodus...I could go on. You cannot compare a game like Fall Out 4 that was okay with something that has the same pedigree as Streets of Rage. I have never heard anyone ever say "I wish Bioshock Infinite was 4 hours long!" As I said before, ask more for your money not less.

@@sugs0377 Yeah we could do it that way but this is a title/series that hits near and dear to our hearts (The series came out when we were teenagers). I have known him for 14 years now and when we met and started hanging out we would talk about gaming and the games from our youth and we found out that both liked the beat'em up genre and both of us owned a Sega Genesis..... come to find out both of us really love the Streets of Rage series. So every holiday season he would fire up Streets of Rage 1-3 and just sit there and play through the series. We are going to play this game in a couch co-op fashion, can't do it any other way 😉😎. Now if we lived really far apart from each other and couldn't hang out that much then the remote play would be a great option, but nothing beats couch co-op though especially for a game like this.

Got the game, beat it, and loved every minute. I'm going to try the other difficulty modes later on and attempt to do so with my wife and son. Loved the music, animation and bosses. I hope this game does well, so that maybe Capcom and other devs would want to upgrade their properties. I love the emulated old games as much as the next guy, but this is such a well-made sequel, it makes me wonder what Double Dragon and Final Fight sequels would look like if remastered or done like this.

Just got the game, and I totally agree with the review. I played SOR 2 when I was a lot younger, and I can tell that this game has fine tuned the battle. Everything feels punchier (except for the pipe, sadly) and just feels so right. It’s a really good game, and I think it definitely came at the right time.

It’s a shame that you can’t even run in this entry. With all the modern reboots of classic beat em ups over the years implementing this, you’d think it’d make sense for this to have that. Without it, it’s a thorn in this game’s side when almost a lot of it is quite enjoyable.

Looks pretty nice! Considering geting it. Id like this series to adopt traditional 2d fighting games mechanics, mainly defensive, like MK11s flawless block. Thatd be a great addition to counter when pressured and would fit nicely to the flow of the game. May get complicated, but Undernight In Births Passing Link combo style could be somewhat adapted. It would fell less arcadey, but id take it as an "expert" or "technical" mode or something

Right now the meta seems on the low side with an 82 but the 85 sounds about right to me based on this review (but for me, I'll probably be a bit more biased and it will surely feel more on the 9 side no doubt). There are better ways to add "long term progression" and replay value. The devs should have done what the "Fight'n Rage" dev did and take many notes from the SoR Remake.

And the replay value is sky high, with multiple endings, especialy since you have to clear every ending with every party constelation. Yeah and the shop... it's basically the SoR Remake shop. I really don't know how SoR4 wants to top this...

@@NickHunter And there were essentially two major versions of it. The earlier beta felt more like SOR2 while the final release felt like SOR3 but with more of SOR2's good ideas and less of SOR3's bad ideas. They play somewhat differently from each other, so they're both great to check out!
