Ground slam, and malenia is flattened before she could do anything much. Bait her straight pierce attack, and use the slam right when she start it, you will crouch and she will completely miss you, and then you got a free headbutt on her that stagger her and you just have to keep using the slam until she enters her second phase. When she finish her flower attack, run to her and slam her face deep in her scarlet rot until she dies

I defeated pre nerf malenia with the strength+faith build. The points in faith were mainly for applying buffs. Otherwise it was mostly strength build.

I did my first playthrough as a level , woden club wretch, until after Morgit. And then i switched to the "bubble build", and now it feels like i'm doing an "unethical" elden ring playthrough because the build is actually suprisingly strong, Bubble Shower is no joke.

Malenia was never nerfed though. There is no mention of it in the patch history at all, and the only change they made to her was patching the glitch where she heals even if a hit doesn't connect.

That's almost like Cloud vs Sephiroth, it was incredible. Congratulations! After my first playthrough I was conviced only hardcore dex builds could beat Malenia alone, but on my recent playthrough I beat her as a pure mage. There are plenty of strategies that work. Learning how to dodge her strongest attacks is the most important thing.

My first run was a shitty strength faith build with golden halberd. Did like 500 damage per swing, but it was serviceable enough and the stagger was very useful. Took me a while but I was also incredibly impatient. First phase has so many exploitable moves like the jump attack into ground slam that takes her 5 years, the grab, the jump into lunge thrust. And when you circle around each other you can just approach her and whack her one or two times for free I commend the bravery though. I would never challenge her with this little hp

I still had like 36 faith A for certain incantation requirements and B even though clawmark seal makes incants scale with strength, its innate incant modifier still has a str/faith scaling, meaning i get more with skilling some faith than skilling more strength after 60

I beaten her with a strength greatsword build before her nerfs, took me 183 attempts, but during my second playthrough, same build, took me 3. The boss is a gimmick, the waterfowl is the gimmic, the rest are just skill. I pity those why say shes a bad boss

It's dexterity builds that are the hardest to fight her. She's so fast that you have pretty much the same safe openings to attack her regardless of how fast your own weapon is, and she flinches from pretty much anything unless she's in an attack animation with hyper armor, then she typically dodges your second attack. so very few weapons can get more than one hit per opening. That means the more damage you can do in one hit the better. Dex weapons struggle to get that kind of damage, so you have to survive more of her bullshit.

I've killed Malenia probably 7 - 8 times. The easiest was a strength build with Great Stars + wild strikes. Wondrous physic stonebarb cracked tear for more poise breaks. 0:35 Anytime she does the blender move, I would chuck a frost pot at her. It'll knock her out of it. Hard to land though. 1:30 Right here. While your waiting for her to bloom, I would be chucking at least 1 or 2 frost pots at her.

I beat her with power stanced great stars, took about 4 hours to beat her. Initially I was running one great star with radahn greatshield. Tried to outdamage her heals with guard counters. The only problem with malenia is dodging phantom spirits attack when she initiates it point blank and doodging waterfowl dance when she does it point blank cuz it is literally impossible to dodge waterfowl if you are to far to get in close and circle her but to close to run away before she fucks u

you can dodge waterfowl point blank the timing is just a little tricky, you can also block the first flurry with most heater shields.

This is honestly the build I thought of easiest for Malenia, every hit would stun her, & I found it a lot less adrenaline inducing hitting her & screwing off until she finishes a long combo. Maybe I found her easy because I used a mimic tear in phase 2(I seriously couldn’t take it you guys, I wasn’t gonna spend another day learning any more moves in her aggressive, punishing, & aggressively punishing scarlet rot build).

I'm currently rocking a Strength Star Fist build with heavy attribute and Bloodhound Step ash, havent gotten to Malenia as this is like my 6th run and its been getting dull so I decided to take a break. Do tell me if the build is viable though. I also use bloodflame buff, repetetive attacks tear, enhanced charge attacks tear. Rotten winged insignia, Milicent's prosthesis, Lord of blood's exultation, dragoncrest greatshield(for some extra def but you can swap it for ritual sword or axe talisman or anything to max damage)

Definitely viable. Main downside would be your short reach, but everything else about this build should be fine if you're patient enough to learn her moves. That weapon does both Bleed and Stance Pressure very well, and Malenia is very weak to both.

@@sterlingmuse5808 Hi, I played this build and immediately stopped using it halfway through a run, not because of the short reach but because of how insanely overpowered it is. The stance breaks are insane, bleed damage, etc. Fromsoft is spoiling us too much with the many ways we can annihilate this game. The short reach didn't even matter. The problem was it was so op it made the game boring. I think this build would work better in later NG+.

I've only done 1 playthrough with a fist weapon and I used the Spiked Cestus, and the short reach was my main issue with it; but I have no doubt that that weapon class would be really good, especially after they buffed Fist stance damage.

@@sterlingmuse5808 Indeed, if you wanna stance break a boss, a few charged heavy attacks should do the trick. If they havent been stance broken yet then the bleed damage will surely end the fight. Right now I'm doing a whip run, and my only complaints were why there arent as much AoWs for it, and why isnt there a riposte animation. Besides that you were wrong the first time, those spells can still get you to 66 Str, if you 2-hand the sword it does the same as 2-handing at 99 str, which is exactly what he was doing the whole fight, 2-handing
