This is one of your best video's. Thank you... i always had a trouble with my wrists for some reason or other and their under developed compared to the rest of my arm. Bouldering might also help some people develop their wrist as well as driving in your hands into a bucket of rice grappling it and repeat.. But that's more for climbers and martial artist.

most of these are common sense movements, but maybe not to someone just getting into working out. I've always done knuckle push-ups since I was a kid as a leftover from boxing training. I had a coach that was old school and thought it toughened your hands up. I think it's more a mental thing, like how much pain can you put your hands through on these concrete floors, but they are fun to do.

+Calisthenicmovement I've got something for you guys. What about a quick guide on 'isolation' exercises? Like 3D shoulder then you need to target the rear delt. To hit the neck... to hit the back of the leg... PS: Is my theory correct? Is bridge pushups shoulder and back targeting? Like a pushup for the back, normal pushup for the chest.

@gega27tt
@gega27tt 8 жыл бұрын
so many people have the idea that climbing means the need of strong arms... until you practice it you discover its more about grip and finger strenght :) how long have u bern climbing?
@joepiekl
@joepiekl 8 жыл бұрын
+gega27tt About 2 years properly. As I understand it, the forearms are a pretty important part of grip strength, hence why beginners always report that their forearms are burning after a climbing session. The advantage of climbing is that it naturally practices loads of different grip types and hand positions. But you're right, if you have good technique, then arm strength isn't the most important thing.

+Joe P I climb a little 5.11 5.12 and upper V problems. what I find is that my tendons are effected more then my muscles due to locking out and proper technique
@bamoida42
@bamoida42 8 жыл бұрын
Anyway before "getting" the proper technique, a beginner is going to bust their arms for a year or two. It depends on your personal preference, but there are routes that naturally need a certain base amount of strength+technique (roof), whereas others can be done with legs+technique only (like corners on a rough wall).

Wrists i lige captain of crush grippers. But be careful with those. They put Much load on the wrist. Pull ups, climbing, bridge many excercises stengthen the wrist. Fish Oil keeps joints mobile aswell as ginger. Which also prevents inflammation. What is your goal besiddes a strong grip?

@dieseltruck8487
@dieseltruck8487 7 жыл бұрын
If you don't know what I mean, try this: Hold your hand up vertically, and bend one finger down to your palm. Now push upward and inward on the nail of that finger with the thumb of your other hand, while with your index finger folding the finger that you are pushing on in place. It will start to hurt really bad on the knuckles if you do it right

Man I do wrist curls, hammer curls, reverse curls but cannot get my wrists and forearms bigger. They're taut and strong but I just don't have the meat on them. Now, it could be psychological and illusionary where I think they're small and it's all in my head however I can I can touch my thumb and middle finger together when I grip my wrist with my hand. I'm 5'11 and 185 so I'm not skinny but athletic. Sometimes I think they look ok, but other times I'm self conscious. Maybe I just don't have the genetics but my dad had big forearms, but he also was a mechanic where he used his hands a lot. Guessing I just have to accept it.

Great vid! I have a question tough.. recently I began having pain in my right hands thumb (from its base at the wrist all the way to the top joint) when doing pull/chin ups with the thumb wrapped around the bar. Going with a "suicide" grip kinda helped but the pain was still there, but when I tried the forearm extensor engaging grip it was perfectly fine even with the thumb wrapped around the bar. Does that mean that I've overdeveloped the flexors and I should balance it out? Sorry for the wall of text :D
