For some reason it feels wrong to lose orks because of the morale tests, its not even possible from the lore since it is said that when an ork dies all the other orks just laugh at it and continue fighting, its just wierd, maybe the orks were just overpowered and they just "nerfed" them... a little sad

I think morale tests make more sense if you consider it’s not just running away. It’s also losing interest, looking for a new war leader, or infighting.

@@LordBobIV1 you do have a point, i guess i didnt think about that... it does make sense since the warboss who has the highest leadership is always the leadership value to be followed, if he dies, the second highest leadership will be followed which will be lower in comparison to the warboss leadership value which makes orks lose their morale... which makes sense...

Blood Axes will retreat sometimes. But... Yeah. They should just get rid or morale. It makes no sense for the lore since 95% of every soldier in every faction is somehow designed or conditioned to give zero shits about dying.

@@matthewquan9083 I guess I'm old school cuz what you described used to be separate rules (at least for Tyranids and Daemons). And Orks basically couldn't fail morale, and necrons straight up didn't fail morale ever lol.

I am new to warhammer, just started playing orks and looking to buy more units. What part of the rules were changed? And does this mean I shouldn't go for a horde :(

​@@kimeriksson7445 I'd say you can still go horde. I play Orks and would suggest plenty of Lootas, Tankbustas, and some Gretchin to use as a screen. Burna Boyz with the Cuttin Flames stratagem is also really good. Meganobz are p-good at the moment but can be a little squishy sometimes with all the AP flying around. Kommandos are really nice due to their innate deep strike. And if hordes are your thing a MUST GET is a Mek with Force Field generator to give all your infatry in a 6'' radius a 6++ and the ability to overcharge it for a turn giving everyone a 5++ is super useful. EDIT: How could I forget trukks? Use them to ensure your high value melee units like Burnas and Meganobz make it to the front line without getting krumped

A lot of ork units come under "eh they're alright" but you'd never taken them because they're either overshadowed, or incredibly fragile and will die to the first stiff breeze. Everything having t shirt saves is a real drawback to the army.

Being T5 is big though. But I feel druhkari, aeldari and harlequins are tougher per point with all the invuls being thrown around

@@cianmac3934 it's a step in the right direction but pretty much everything has AP -1. Heck so much stuff has high AP that even meganobz seem kinda fragile without an invul

@@asbrozek64 Agreed. I love Meganobz, and if they can get the charge off they can be deadly. But a 2+6+ would be much nastier. A 5+ would be perfect.

i disagree with the tshirt save, i think it is 100% fine the real big letdown IMO is the crippling of units by the removal of the LD buff on unit size, i ran numbers on release and again nearly all guns point for point, the new orks die faster than last edition. if they gave orks some way to deal with LD not crippling their large units they would be so much better.

@@ImperiumofRat Yep moral is a huuuge killer for armies Ork weakness as a horde army is the paper save (tho a 6++ on mega nobs would fit) But the moral is overkill Nontheless 8e orkz laugh at the moral phase to an extreme so it needed to be nerf Boys/nobs/stormboys (all melee based units) could go with an ability like "if they are in melee, the get +3 moral" to be good but needing some thinking Also some rule to make bigger unit = bigger morale but again not as extreme like 8e, like capping a max of 10 (?) LD would fit the green tyde style

I think you overlooked the kill rig doing a first turn charge. Character gets the advance and charge with waaagh + ramming speed Add squig hide tyres for extra 3”

@@Tent-Peg I’ve seen 3 fully loaded get the charge off, it was pretty much GG right there. Getting a 4+ on the advance roll is pretty safe to get in. Other favourite is tellyport, psychic, shoot, ramming speed. Also gets 14 attacks that with goffs is crazy AND can use the +1 to wound beast snagga strat.

@@auspextactics Even better once buried into your opponents lines it pops Roar of Mork and all enemy units within 18” are -1Ld. Can cause massive morale related losses, especially if Snikrot is around

Seems aspirational to be honest. Will only work if you and your target line up on the edge of your deployment zone and there is no terrain in the way. And what if you don't get the first turn? Dead kill rig

When the codex first came out, some people were using 4 kmk's on deff dreads with that new mek kustom upgrade that allowed you to shoot twice. GW nerfed it almost instantly, now it's only used for meks and maybe big meks.

@@justinerickson282 As a Custodes and Ork player I don't understand how they could nerf orks so hard while buffing custodes. My friends can't even beat my custodes with a 300 point handicap!

It sucks but it was pretty easy to see that coming. The mek kustom jobs were separate from the vehicle ones, and all but the extra kustom weapon were specifically for infantry meks. That it was usable on other stuff was pretty obviously a mistake. Also, the upgrade just gave you an extra shot with the weapon. Making an extra attack doesn't mean shooting/fighting a second time.

My biggest gripe with the Warboss in Mega Armor is the fact that his weapon is only 2 damage. With so many units in game getting -1 damage it becomes kinda weedy. Beast Boss is absolute gold though! Total beast in CC!

Mega-Warboss with 'Ard as Nails and either Super Cybork-body or Krushin' Armor laughs at most damage though. He may not kill things too quick, but he sure as heck ain't dying to anything any time soon either.

Giving him that Choppa relic is a decent idea though if you're not wanting him to be tanky. Many lists use him as a full tank with Ard as Nails plus Cybork Body and sit on an objective or guard a flank with his own little beat squad.

It weird to see the Boyz' stats get buffed yet again but their role diminishes do how efficient the rest of the army is. The internal balance for the book is poor but that's what you get when every slot is just flooded with options, many competing for similar roles.

Feels bad that Grotsnik's 'main' use was being able to give FNP and a heal to more than one clan in a list (and join any clan detatchment) but now they stopped clan souping. Really feels like that last chapter approved has been a major oversight.

Useful list and I loved the light on the Big/ Mek gunz, they have long been some of my favourite ork units. The amount of times my Lobba, Kannon & now Zzap guns have been useful is a long list!

I think boss zag needs to be higher here. Him being the only hq option that has a jump pack and has a auto advance 6 makes him the most flexable missle the ork have. His ability to get in and disrupt baseline things is amazing. Also every goff list you see has him.

Yeah especially if you fist of Gork him. I’ve used him to go after soft points in my opponents line. Sadly can’t use my Goff/Blood Axe combos anymore

As a new player starting with Orks, I think I'm sold on Blood Axes! They'll make the best use of my existing Kommandos from Kill Team, and they synergize well with other units I'd like to pick up, like the Stormboyz.

I'd argue trukk boyz really aren't that bad though? Throwing an unit that far and hopefully deleting a light infantry unit seems very reasonable for the cost.

@@warbosslottaslaughta7160 I feel like obsec automatically makes them at minimum 5/10, then you add the T5 they were upgraded to and the 4 at S5 attacks with -1ap each if you are goff and waagh makes them a 7/10. The problem is basically only units that are 8/10 and up are any good in 9th.... But with the new AOC rule for power armor they are definitely only at best a 6/10 now. Very sad

Mad Dok Grotsnik and Badrukk have a rule like Ghaz where they can be included with any clan's detachment in the 9th ed. codex. A few ork characters gained this. (at least they could until the new no mixing clan detachments, not sure if that affects it).

​@@Killallmangahaters There is quite a lot of fun units and strats. Mega dread out of teleporta with Ramming speed is always a good orky time. Im a big fan of the squiggoths (made 2 from scratch myself). A common criticisms of another favorite unit of mine, the flashgitz, is that their weapons are heavy, have short range and are slow. Guys, put them in a squiggoth and you can run around and charge head first into the enemy lines while delivering a good amount of dakka! I had a list with 2 squiggoths and 20 flashgitz that did really well playing with friends before the new ork codex. Now these units are even better, and squiggoths got a point reduction too. I have not used the grot tanks and grot mega tank in games yet, but the minis are really fun. Grot mega tank sounds quite interesint, either with rokkets or skorchas out of teleport. Just with big shootas is a 35 shot basewith BS4, F5, with potential speedwagh.... for 90p. I would like to see this compared to the buggies.

Stormboyz are amazing at killing most things. Especially in goffs with Ghaz or warboss nearby, exploding 5s strat. They do a shed load of damage before they die

For me the best about them is the 6" auto advance (lose 1 boy because of mw isnt a problem) to "snipe" dangerous units or at least have them occupied 1 turn. The big problem is they have low morale like all ork nowadays, so even 2-3 stormboys down can end up with the unit death.

@@ismael9914 yeah, 15 man units are the way forward. Shouldn't lose too many to moral but it is annoying. They can also do a rod or two in your own deployment before being waaaghed to their death at a high value target

Hell yeah. I've got meganobz in a trukk, bikers, stormboyz, mek guns, and a dakka jet supporting a horde of slugga boyz. Glad to see I picked good options!

I am, and always have been, a sucker for Nobz with Big Choppas (Klaw Boss Nob). They’ve always done work for me in a Trukk especially rocking Trukk Boyz and the new WAAAGH! Pushing them to S8. 36 S8 D2 attacks and 4 S11 Klaw Attacks, to me, is a universal code for “kill anything I want in one round of combat”. They aren’t too expensive, get the job done, and when the dust settles, you have 20 T5 3+/5++ saves (cover and WAAAGH) to keep them around for another round of krumping. I don’t often support them with characters, but you can run a Warboss (even in Mega Armour) if you wanted to be a bit weird. I often feel like they go under appreciated. That being said, I also run 10 Flash Gits so anything is good value when compared to those bastard a

As a suggestion. I think each entry should have a side note/score. For any subfaction that really boosts its capability. For instance. - Boyz in a Goffs - Dakkajet in free bootaz Etc. Feel that would help people if picking units for their own army. I've played quite a few games with my Goffs in 9th. And against orks (snakebites and evil sunz) got a few things to note. -Da Jump psychic power is amazing -Battlewagons are excellent (be warned tho. They have the super explosion when they die! 6" D6 mortal wounds. Nasty) -Big Meks with KFFs are rubbish. (So I've built one with tellyport blasta and the the ded shiny shoota. See how he does) - scrapjets are crazy powerful. All that firepower plus ramming speed. Then their own charge. They can easy make their points back no issue. - I run Goff Boyz in units of 10 with no upgrades. At 90 points they can really punch above their weight. Coz of the Goff buffs. - the beastboss on Squigosaur definitely needed that points increase because he was incredible. And still is. Beasthide mantel is a must take.

@@grimaldushelbrecht8811 yea man. There's a warlord trait. That allows you to attack again if you failed to coz damage. This combines really well with Goffs. Take cheap a battlewagon. Its only 125 points with a deffrolla. Stick ya boss and some nobz in there. A weirdboy with da jump is excellent. Unbridled carnage strat is amazing. I use that and tide of muscle alot. Big choppas are really good and cheap. 3 points on nobz. 10 man units of Boyz are better imo. Coz of moral. A big unit can potentially loss lots of models to moral. It's only 90 points for 9 Boyz and a nob. They can duff up plenty of things. Don't forget Goffs get plus 1 strength when they charge. Never forget the exploding 6s. Which affects the deff rolla aswell. Mega nobs are only 90 points a unit aswell. And multiple units can get in the battlewagon. So you could easy have 10 nobz. 3 meganobs and a warboss all in a battlewagon. That could be 5 separate charges. (2 5xman nobz units charge out. The meganoz charge out. The warboss charges out. Then the battlewagon charges lol) Don't forget that the battlewagon can use ramming speed. Easier charge and impact its. Sexondaries Stomp em good. Orks is da best. And I usually take a retrieve mission data or raise the banners aswell.

@@grimaldushelbrecht8811 To add to the other guy, I play Goffs at 1k points quite often. I run a fluffy list with Boss Zagstruk and his Vulcha Squad (10 stormboyz) and Da Vulcha (flyer). Get a bunch of Boyz to run amok taking objectives/using cover and use Zag with his Vulchas to Waaagh and snipe an enemy. Zag alone can punch way above his weight. I personally like Cybork Body along with Brutal But Kunnin but Da Killa Klaw would be good if you're not up against tons of invul saves like I am. My enemy basically has to nuke him down or he'll destroy a unit every turn. The flyer along with a squadron of Deffkoptas snipe off dangerous targets while I take objectives with Boyz and the Warboss. You should also highly consider grabbing Kommandos for early game pressure or an extra minimum squad of Stormboyz to take an objective on turn 3 when most stuff is dead. Nearly all of my games end by turn 3 due to the damage all my fast attack and flyer dishes out.

5:12 Your forgetting the Kustom Job for Da booma, I've ran that on a GunWagon to great success. Heavy 2d6 Str 8 Ap -2 Blast is really nice if you get your average of 7 Shots at 4+ to hit. Also the Standard Warboss and Mega Warboss can also be a Trukk Boys, many successfull lists run multiple Patrols with Mega Nob Trukkl Boyz and a Mega Warboss to get a First turn charge in to lock up the Enemy than some Squighog Boyz and a Squig Boss coming Round 2 45:33 Also your Forgetting the Blood Axe Straight Shoota in the hands of a Mega Armor Big Mek, super powerful since Big Meks hiit on a 4+ on shooting.

Honestly I feel like nobody on the GW team plays orks or is bothering to understand the army. They did a hamfisted balance to nerf orks to the ground after they got a few wins in the month after thier codex while leaving admech and drukari as the Champs with small thoughtful nerfs. Your assessments are fair but in the game as a whole I feel your 7/10 is more a 5/10 in somparisons to other codexes. Orks have some OK units but nothing outstanding and simply are not able to make it to top tables at most tournaments outside small ones with countermeta play.

The Gorkanaut and Morkanaut I would put at 3/10 they are pretty trash tier.

Using Big Mek with Flash Gitz in a Trukk, complimented with a squad of Killa Kanz and a Deff Dread or 2 is a solid contender for obsec detachment all on it's own. Throw in a squad of Kommandos and a squad of Stormiez and you have yourself a detachment capable of playing the old OBJ game while your other detachment(s) do the krumpin. Blood Axes is likely best for this, especially given the synergy with your Kommandos and Stormiez. You could also accomplish this same goal with Snakebitez and sub your Kommando and Storm unit with Hog Boyz but you'll lose deep strike, and there is no synergy at all with your heavies.

Kill rig is still a small blender in melee with 9-11A on 1W(lowest bracket) and hits on 3's. Thing melts tanks in shooting and blends most infantry on the charge at a minimum of S5.

The last I heard is that it doesn’t work like that. Yes, the transport rules state that embarked units are under the same modifiers as the transport, but none of the embarked units fulfill the keyword limitation to benefit from that modifier.

Curious. What does the keyword have to do with it? It doesn’t mention key word in the core rule change. It says the same modifier applies to units embarked.

@@Rensley21 The way I was told is that as it specifies „trukks“ to get +1 and not any unit, the respective unit needs to be a trukk to use that +1 as it otherwise doesn’t fulfill the keyword.

I loved the video. Orks is da best! Buuut, i definatelly disagree on many things in the list. Boss Zagstrukk seems way better to me. Very high mobility, packs a punch and is reasonably tough with his save. Although i havent painted and played mine yet i look forward too many turn 1 or 2 charges.

I think it means they’ve been moved to Legends. They’re still tabletop legal but GW isn’t going to ever give them updated points or rules. I know because I ran a Chaplain Dread in my fluffy Deathwatch list in 8th and now in 9th it’s been moved to Legends.

@@geonsilberlicht4632 the goff Rocker has a stamp that says "open play", so its not for matched play (like the battle forktress), the bigmek is legends, and the kstompa and the bomm launcher are forgeworld. The bomm launcher though did not make the cut and is in legends, too. Not sure about the wahapedia Symbols, i dont use that

Nob with Waaagh! banner is the cheapest way to get a trukkboy shooting benefit to the other embarked riders. Also, can bring meganobz to a 2+ attack stacked with a warboss. Probably should be higher than a 4/10.

One way i make my Nob with Waaagh banner slightly more useful is by giving him the truckboy upgrade, throwing him in a truck with 10 Flash gitz and a big mek with shock attack gun. You can now move the truck and they will all still hit in a 4+ and if you dont move the truck they all hit on 3+!

@@skouskos8857 The truk boyz upgrade can be taken by any nob or boyz unit. Put it on the Nob with waaagh bannet to maximize space in the truck for other things. The truk boy buff gives +1 to the truk's shooting, and in the latest dataslate/FAQ (i cant remember) they clerify a rule that states if a vehicle recives a buff to its shooting then that buff also ablies to the unites embarked in the transport. So if you do this your Flash gitz will be hitting on 3+ or 4+ depending on if the truk moved or not. Sorry if that was long i just wanted to be as clear as possible.

Think you're way off on a fair few of these Auspexs. In an edition all about objectives our troops choice are suffering a bit and a lot of the fun synergies and strategums have been sucked out of the codex. Orks are on the shelf for me this edition.

I feel like you are quite a bit generous with your rankings than most ork players are. Id like to share my opinion on this. If flash gitz, for instance, at your rank of 7/10 were actually a 7/10, they would see more play. Id say if a unit is an 8/10+ that unit sees play at tournements. If its a 7/10, it sometimes sees play, or could potentially be played at tournements. 6/10 only belongs to friendly games. Flash gitz dont see play and with good reason, they are not great because of all the other units you need to invest in to keeping these safe, and even then their damage isnt worth the investment. They most likely wont see play either with the reduction in points. Flash gitz should not be more than a 5/10 or 6/10. Lootas: Lootas at 7/10 as well? I dont know what is wrong with your scoring here, but no one uses lootas because at a fundamental place they are wrong. Too bad of a save value and too little damage done from them especially because you HAVE to take spanners which means you also lose 1 loota per 5 lootas. Furthermore as you said, cant use stratagems when in transports, and they WILL need to be in transports so thats no saving grace. Lootas are not a 7/10 even with the point reduction putting them at 15ppm. Lootas are terrible, they are not any more than a 5/10. The Mek: Again who takes Meks? no one does, its not a 7/10 unit, its a terrible unit because orks rarely needs repairing. I understand one can do other things with him as well but he is not a 7/10. Boyz: While i agree boyz are a 7/10 i would only put them there because of trukk boyz. If trukkboyz werent a thing id give em a 6/10 Nobz: Nobz at 6/10 when both Meks, lootas and flash gitz are at 7/10? Unlike Meks, lootas and Flash Gitz, Nobz with double choppas or big choppas as trukk boys, actually see play because its a decent combo. WIf Trukkboyz didnt exist, then yea id put them at a 6/10 the same as Boyz really but because trukkboys do exist, id put them at 7/10 with boyz. They are definitely more useful than both meks, lootas and flash gitz for their price. The Runtherd: if you are basically butchering him with how useless he is given massed grots is a terrible idea, why on earth is he still at a 6/10? we cant view models in a vacuum, the runtherd like any other unit has to be seen in cohesion to what they are meant to buff. If one is going to almost lose the game by going massed grots, then this guy automatically becomes useless. Shokk jump: id put it on a 7/10 rather than 8/10, but thats more of an opinion. Gorkanauts and morkanauts: definitely not a 7/10. You even said 7/10 might be generous, and it is, so why even give it 7/10 when its clearly not a 7/10? They lost their ability to have BS4 meaning most their shots will miss, and the gorkanaut even lost an attack. Going above 16 wounds means that you wont get obscurred from terrain anymore, so the 24 wounds total dont necessarily help it. Increased cost, moved to Lord of war so no culture either and a CP tax to bring one. I would bring morkanauts and gorkanauts regularily in friendly matches before, now i dont. At the morkanaut you even write "Ok anti armor output, ok melee firepower". Since when did "ok damage" translate to a 7/10? If something is "okay" its around average. 7/10 is not average its above average. Weird boy: Should be 7/10 due to how difficult it is to get off 2 casts from him with his change. He was nerfed for no reason. His fist of Gork is very good now though, but warpath and da jump is clan locked, and warpath is also core locked. Ghaz: I would put him at 7/10. For what he does he is way too expensive. he cant be healed anymore, cant advance and charge when ever he wants to, cant shoot while advancing, cant even be tellyported and has to be your warlord. He was hard nerfed from previous edition. Yes he can cast a great waaagh, but in most cases, you are better off not going for a great waaagh and just focus on either speed waaagh or normal waaagh. There are only a select few compositions that really benefits from the great waaagh, and ghaz taking up 300 points makes it harder to fill out the rest of your rooster. Supreme commander in and out of itself is good though. Boss Zagstruk: He is actually starting to see play in massed goff horde lists with like 20 trukkboys, 30 kommandos and 30 stormboys, due to his innate nature to go where ever he wants on a waaagh turn 1. Id put him at 7/10. Last but not least Zogrod: He is terrible. I wouldnt even take him even if i RECEIVED points for it. Okay i would, but he sucks. 3/10.

I definitely agree on Lootas and Flash Gitz not being worth the 7/10. I've tried to use them and they've been consistently bad. You *must* invest in a transport for them or they're just dead points on the board and when you factor in the cost of the transport, their damage output per point gets destroyed compared to basically every other shooting option available (Tankbustas, Buggies, Mek Gunz, you name it). I mean honestly, would you ever take 6 Flash Gitz in a Trukk over 5 Mek Gunz or 2 buggies of any variety? Sure there are some niche cases where they can have their moments, but nine times out of ten they're nowhere near worth it. Both would need to be Assault 3 to even have a a chance of competing with the other options available (Lootas so that they could fire for full effect from long range and Flash Gitz so they could move without losing a third of their damage). Zagstruk is a good missile. He's easy to hide, highly mobile and packs enough punch to make him likely to earn his points back in a single charge, given how with his mobility he's quite likely to hit what he wants to be hitting. He can quite easily take out unsuspecting support characters or heavy weapons teams (I sniped off Ahriman in my first game with him) and being a 6 wound T6 character combined with a 4+ save and a 5+ FNP means it'll take more than just a few stray bolter shots to take him down. Would definitely put him above 6/10, especially as he doesn't take up a precious Warboss slot. Ghaz is also in a rough spot. He's really easy to deal with now that 9th has had time to ramp up damage. Mortals go straight through and statistically you only have to hit twice with any hard-hitting anti tank to chip off the 4 wounds in the shooting phase. With both the new Grey Knights and Thousand Sons being a thing, knocking him out in a single player turn is super easy, barely an inconvenience. The only thing he has going for him is that a royal limousine (aka. a Battlewagon) is now 15 points cheaper. If there was a way to get him Fists of Gork'd and into the enemy lines in good health, sure, he'd do some damage, but it's just not very doable at the moment. Hard to justify the 8/10 there.

You might be right on that account - I feel he COULD be worth it if managing to repair and shoot every turn, but he's so much more disappointing than the previous-codex version with the Souped-Up-Shokka...

@@auspextactics Indeed 26 shots made his swingu nature more reliable, but than again he required detachment and cp tax. Problem with him since 8th ed is that he is super random. He can do a lot but on avarage do fairly Little or is risky to use but is priced as he woulud reliable deliver around 80% - 90% of his maximum output. This trend is sadly typical for how GW price units. They cannot for sone reason price units with high random factor right (despite it being relatively easy with Just taking avarage resoults of that unit). This caused massive surge in Ork power around 8th ed when orks became much less random and fun but more reliable and priced much better.

The SAG Big Mek is sadly just terrible. You're getting D6 shots of a random Strength gun, firing at BS4 (unless you want to move and lose an extra pip of BS). Even assuming that you roll well and get 5-6 shots, and even hitting more often than missing, you can still mess up with the Strength roll and end up wounding on 5s or even 6s. It simply has too many points of failure to be worth the investment. Even if you get lucky on turn 3 or 4 and actually roll hot enough at all points to do some damage, you simply can't afford to have 110 points sitting idle for several turns trying to get its gun to work. Sure, you can get the Runtsucker upgrade to reduce the randomness a little bit, but at that point you're just throwing more points into an already bad investment that's still highly unreliable. The thing that kills it is that you can't CP re-roll the Strength roll. It's quite the feeling shooting at a Knight with a S3 SAG.

​@@auspextactics I used to run him with all the repair tricks--grot oiler, fixa uppas and the dread mek warlord trait in 8th next to a gorkanaut--up to 5 wounds healed on 1 turn. Even then, with a better basic SAG, he was a meme. So with only the fixa uppas left, and everything else worse off, he's not even good for the larfs.

You can only give boyz, nobz, meganobz and Warboss the trukk boyz ability. But from reading the faq; if you were to have the trukk boyz in a trukk with say a shokk attack gun mek the +1 to hit should pass on to him also.

@@florianpal9633 a squiggoth is only 170 points for 18 t8 wounds. A ten inch move with howdah means tankbustas or otherwise can shoot at complete effect with a big shell around them

@@spoonsrattling true, tankbustas are quite nice in these! Flash gitz just dont work that way (or any other) imo. But i still think that in 9th Edition when i pay 340 points for it, i dont think its very points effizient. For 300 pts i get the same Nummer of rockets, strong melee Profile, 60 extra shots, mortals on Charge etc on the wartrukks. Also they then have 27 wounds and profit from speedwagh. I think its immensely overshadowed, sadly

@@fatelvis9538 no he can't, since he is an Unit with the Fortifications battlefield role, he cannot be placed in Strategic Reserve. Page 247 Add the following sub-section: Fortifications Units with the Fortifications Battlefield Role are terrain features that are part of your army. Unless otherwise stated, when setting Fortifications up on the battlefield, they cannot be set up within 3" of any other terrain feature that is not part of its own datasheet (excluding hills, page 260). If it is not possible to set up a Fortification as a result, it cannot be deployed and counts as having been destroyed. Fortifications can never be placed into Strategic Reserves (pg 256). Fortifications cannot be setup within 3" of other terrain features (except hills). Fortifications cannot be placed into Strategic Reserves.

A lot of your scores seem way off this time around. Too many things you rated highly, when you'd want to more or less avoid them if you can. Boyz and grots, sadly, being the biggest ones. choppa/choppa nob trukk boyz are pretty much a new standard, along with mega armored nob trukkboyz. Squigbuggies are fairly dead outside of AoR lists, and even then it's an easy cut. Squighog boyz sadly also fall into a "better on paper" category too. They can deal the damage, but rarely can get in range to do it, because they're surprisingly slow, not durable, and leadership is a big issue.

Gretchin imo are the worst they ever been... 7+ save ffs with garbage morale rules without a runtherder, so while yes they seem cheap, they will get cleared from a SM hard glare, unless you are now taking the additional runtherder with them... Which is another character for their secondaries

Definitely done in vacuum. MOst egregious is the on-foot Warbosses. They look all good and all, but compare regular Warboss to.. say... Space Mehren captain. Captain is cheaper has more upgrade options. Though Warboss does have one extra wound, attack and better weaponskill. The +1 to melee hit aura is nice and all, but orks already hit real good. Hell, it's just bewildering to see all other races have all kinds of reroll auras while orks get none of such. Hell... At least orks are hella awesome though.

@@loganmcgee18 Agreed. In this edition even at their old point cost gretchin would be overpriced. A guardsmen is the same points and can get four times the shots within the gretchin's range, has better armour and melee capability, and a bunch of synergies. 8th felt like a big win in terms of ork codex design, giving us a lot of different combinations to choose from. Everything in 9th is so limited in terms of stratagems, upgrades, and keywords. I know this was done so GW felt more in control of the competitive aspect of the game, but the irony has been the GT scene has never been so unbalanced and list-building hasn't felt this boring for a while. Reminds me of 7th, like, a LOT.

I want to make warbikes work but I feel the damage isn't there. Sure they can have 10 shots each, but over half of them miss, they are only str 5 and they have no AP. A squad of 3 in dakka range has a one in three chance of not even killing a marine.

I've been liking them but only with the army of renown. They're very fast and take up a lot of space, and aren't trivial to get rid of at T5 with a 5++ and -1 to hit. They're not gonna be star damage dealers, but you can use them to control your opponent's movement and pull fire away from your actual damage dealing stuff.

GW nerfed running double choppa, so when you mention 5 nobz with double choppa would get 5 attacks each, it's still base 3 +1 so only 4 attacks. This also hurts since I was running 2 and 3 klaw dreads and now those are useless too :(

@@Malky24 feb 4th, 2022 data slate. Core Rules: Paired Weapons A helpful tidy-up here. Some weapons have rules along the lines of “if a model is equipped with two of these, make one additional attack”, but that caused some confusion where technically that ability would trigger for both the weapons carried, meaning it was +2 attacks rather than +1. This is now clarified to only ever give +1. They even specifically mention kill saws as an example, along with grey knight nemesis falchions, and drukhari macroscalpels.

I'm happy with my orks over all but I am a bit disappointed we don't have any reliable ways to negate our terrible leadership, not even strats out side of one you need a nob unit to use... and as a fluffy freebooter player it makes me sad that Badruk kinda sucks and doesn't even give speed waaagh for all my flash gitz... I feel like only having speedwagh on basically one warboos choice is needlessly limiting, would be much more fun if you could pick.
