Lucius is opressively good against everything trying to take on the Drukhari meta. It's also just plain good. Skitarii spam, either vanguard or ranger, either work... Man that's going to be rough. I just don't really feel much for painting up 80+ of among the most detailed infantry models in the game.

Lucius is opressively good against anything. especially in small games, imagine a 500 point with a Dominus Manipulus 2 Ballistaris and 20 Vanguard squad, Ballistari will always get a shot with how they walk and shoot, and the 20 man vanguard will teleport by solar flare with all the buffs hitting on 2's rerolling 1's and autowounding on 4+

I have a few Armigers, so I decided to play Mars, Metallica, and House Raven. Have my Kataphrons and Kastelans in the Metallica Detachment, all the Skitarii units in Mars, and 3 Armigers in the superheavy auxiliary Detachment. That way, I can use the Knight of the Iron Cog to make everything have access to Canticles.

Unless your playing comp, literally every forgeworld, built sub optimally is so revolting powerful compared to everything except the most recent books. If you dont play against sisters or drukhari play what you like, dont have to buy 800 pounds worth of ironstriders

I've been interested in AdMech since the initial releases but outside of a couple exceptions it's kind of a poor range compared to Mechanicum Taghmata of 30k. Thallax, Vorax, Domitars and Castellax are just so cool and 40k gets ridiculous looking models like Castellans and Archeocopters...

@@x-tremex-wing I can honestly say that I hate what they did to the admech. It's too strong and not even fair with my friends now. I was able to table sisters of battle in the second battle round. How's that even a thing?

@@mcniesh1 the most frustrating thing is the whole codex is so over complicated and the way you can manipulate your whole army to have +1 bs or +1 save is broken. Guard pay 50 Pts more say for a tank hitting on 3+ rather than a 4+ but Admech get the whole army for free!

I had quite a few games with Slaved System Forge Worlds: Ryza (because I have my own forge world, and I don't really need the relic anyhow - everyone uses Exemplar Eternal anyway), and it was very, very fun. I have a couple of battle reports on my blog, but needless to say, they are a mixed bag. Sometimes they crush...and sometimes they get hammered. Oh, well...at least the games were fun.

Teleporting means that your units aren’t on the table for the command phase so can’t get buffed, which I think is a bit of a limitation for Lucius.

really, I'd say any is pretty good. The only ones I think are not worth it are the three and fourth worlds in the Distant Forge Worlds. And even then, if it fits you, pretty sure you can do something with that.

Let me run this by you guys, Ruststalkers can get: +1 save from light cover +1 extra save from light cover with wasteland stalkers +1 save from Firepoint Telemetry Cache while in a terrain feature +1 save if Lucius and hit with a D1 weapon +1 save with Bulwark Imperative active Am I missing something or is that the most stacking armor of any unit in the game? You would need to hit them with an overcharged Hellblaster just to get back to base armor saves. Give them Luminescent Blessings since you are obviously playing Lucius and you're reading for anything...

I've been playing the rad saturated forget world with the +1 str and AP on rad weapons. It's great to combo with an artisan manipulus to boost a 20 man vanguard to str 5, ap -2, 60 shots. or shifting those buffs to the 20 blob of rangers to get str 5, ap-2, 40 -> 80shots depending on range.

Been playing rad saturated scarifying and I have to say that having nothing but S4 AP-1 small arms is nice. Also good with a manipulus to give them 24" range and AP-2. Kills marines, even DG, easily with a squad of 10 giving 30 shots and wounding about 10-15 of them (auto-wound on 6s helps me a lot) because of the enriched rounds stratagem.

I don't think it is worth it as you have to give up a turn of extra range and AP-2 for extra hits on 6s. Since you need to wait a turn with no auras and abilities to do the advanced section of that.

Oh yeah, fought Mortarion and half killed him with Vanguard shooting as can auto wound him on 6s to hit which greatly improves your dakka on monsters.

My strategy is to as many 20 man vanguard units as I can in my army, then take the custom forge world dogma that adds 1 strength and -1 ap. Bam, in a 1000 point army I have like 4 teams of skitarii with 60 shots per unit and s4 ap-1, eat your heart out hoard armies

Lucius with Artisan Manipulus does the same thing and gives +9" range, better armour, and the option of giving a blob Transhuman for ridiculous durability

The only unaligned models (besides fortifications, which are weird and not that good) are ones from Blackstone fortress. Your options are: -Spindle drones: space marine statlines (4+ save though) with laspistols, each damaged/dead model strengthens their guns -Guardian Drone: very tanky drone, has t6 and fnp 5+, better guns/melee than spindles and gives them max pistol strength -Ambull: tanky melee unit, regenerates and has unlimited teleport homers -Borewyrms: cheap melee units, same teleport ability, have worse flensing claws, hard to hit in shooting -The Archivist: power fist and melta glove, basically space marine character statline

I am conflicted... I love the rules for Lucius, but not a major fan of the paint scheme, and I want to have my own custom forge world. Couldn't there be an option for a forge world that copies the rules of an established forge world but is different for fluff reasons? Like what Sisters and Space Marines get?

There is. It's called Slaved Systems, on page 59. The only thing you wouldn't get is the Solar Flare relic

Maybe since you'd technically be choosing the Lucius trait? Or they may just have not bothered since there was no reason not to "counts-as" prior to the new model/paint scheme policy, and that's only going to matter at events specifically run by GW anyway. But yeah, you just pick one of the named forge worlds and gain their dogma, as well as access to their warlord trait and stratagem. In all cases, you'd replace with whatever your forge world name was (actually letting the rules work on your units)

Well...all of them really, majority of them have imperial titan allegiances and forges but ik Stygies VIII was home to 3 titan legions before the heresy,now it's down to 1,same with Lucius.

I think they are only supposed to get an increase to the range. RAW it works but they call out that it should not stack in the crusade rules for the radium weapon upgrades.

Lucius 20 man squad corpuscari priests with manipulus with solar flare and luminescent blessings . Give the priests transhuman, take minus 1 to hit in combat with first turn canticle, alpha strike with the teleport and blow everything away and charge whatever is left. Game over in turn 1

There's one specific unit that can do it. It might be Vanguard vets or company vets or something? I know a friend of mine who has squad like that to try and blend horde units. Both Chainswords grant +1 attack, so you're not doubling or anything, but it IS more one more swing per model than just one sword

I just want the old warlord trait (let you fire into melee) given my old 8e army was built around the wt and FNP with large groups of vanguard. I can understand why it is gone though. That would be insanely goid even in comparison to what is now available with the buffs to skitarii infantry. I just wish Graia still had something that made them worth taking as they are still a cool forgeworld.

I've been pleasantly surprised with them. Mortals are more common than I thought, and 20-man units actually really appreciate ignoring combat attrition. Lucius probably does the same job better (unless grey knights and/or thousand sons really shake up the meta), but Graia still feels pretty good to play
