I like to see this (strict press events), to see how strong weightlifters are, about brute force! While snatch & clean & jerk are also a lot of technics (despite they require, of course, deadlift, squat, shoulder press skills). It's sad "clean & press" is no longer among the weighlifting competitions. Would have been better to allow it but unvalidate bad press by referee depending on back angle (for people who bended too much their back in order to include more "pectoral power"). Just like bench press where people bend like an arc of circle and press (crappy bench from my opinion) on a very short amplitude is allowed, I do not see why clean & press could not be... Weird decisions from people in charge!
@antonbarkland21944 жыл бұрын
2:58 Strict as hell :-) Beautiful!
@mwanoa9 жыл бұрын
Great concept. It would be awesome for the person on the mic to cue each lifter by saying "set" in which the lifter brings the bar to the rack position, then say "lockout" so that the lifter physically locks out knees before executing the strict press. Some lifters got away with a bit of leg drive on their lifts, some lots others not so much but this would be an awesome way to level the quest for the strongest strict press.
@wayneparker93316 жыл бұрын
I suspect what you observed was why there was so much controversy back when this was an Olympic lifting event and that's one reason why they dispensed with it. Lots of arguments between referees and coaches about whether athlete so-and-so did or did not have their knees locked out when they started to press overhead, etc. I can almost hear the arguments/debates in my head.

this was awesome.
