It's a shame the 101 is so obscure. I'd love to see a CF-101B in a combat sim somewhere, there are still quite a few on static display. My hometown Edmonton has two that I can think of, both outside the aviation museum.

I'm fond about Vietnam air war history and your "reenactments" are, i think, rather realistic, aren't they? Moreover, you're the only youtuber, as far as i found yet, who's making great contents using TK's little big sim, which i like a lot. Keep up this good work, and thank you a lot! Officially the RCAF calls the CF-18s that replaced the 101s CF-188A/Bs. We're also still not over the Arrow thing.
@devinhorner23586 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I didn't do my due diligence on the CF-188! Thanks for the correction, I'm not as familiar with Canadian equipment and it didn't come up in my research. I did grow up with a model of the Arrow on my dad's shelf, though. I'm sorry for your loss.
@Malfeus6 жыл бұрын
@@devinhorner2358 I bet there's RCAF pilots that don't know about the 188 thing. I discovered it when I was downloading the mod for Strike Fighters and I've spent 30 years calling the CF-18s. It's some kind of air force hipster thing if you ask me.

@James Cowan While that was true, the days of the Interceptor were numbered, the Arrow was an expensive program that while ahead of it's time, was too ahead of it's time. It would have been pushed into a strike fighter role just like the CF-104, and as seen in the MiG-25/31 (which were heavily based on the Arrow, easy to see in the design of both) have proven to be dreadful ground attackers in their time, thus being redesignated to the Interceptor role. Ultimately, the Arrow would have suffered from the same faults as the F-102 and F-106, it's role would have been obsolete by the time it entered service.

@@apocyldoomer It's pretty well documented. In the 60's in Vietnam the RF101's flew thousands of low level reconnaissance missions. I also know this because my father flew RF101c's in vietnam. (That's how old I am!) It may be that they were talking about that particular plane or the F101 (fighter only version). I don't believe the fighter only version flew in Vietnam - not 100% sure on that.

@@devinhorner2358 That's really something. I'm longtime flyer in Gen-1 WOV and WOE going back years. WOV Gold expansion vet from the go. WOE ODS mod pilot on it's day of introduction. Even flew as Sov pilot in WOE in 1962 and as a N. Vietnamese against the Yankees in another mod. I still have things on an older XP computer but your videos have really got me looking at the 2nd generation since i finally got a Windows 10 computer. (Still favor XP though) Flying Recce birds is one of my favorite pastimes and the RF-101 would be a big challenge over N. Vietnam. Gen1 was a pain to modify certain mission/campaigns kind of things so it looks then like it's a lot easier in the more recent material. Looks like you sold me. Hey buddy, how do you mod this game? Could you point me to a good guide or something? Thx.
@devinhorner23585 жыл бұрын
Run the game at least once to initialize it. In your "User" file, where your My Videos and My pictures etc are, there is another folder called "Saved Games." At least in Windows 7 thats where it is, I assume there is a similar location for later Windows OS's. Click on Thirdwire folder, then Strike Fighters 2. This is the Mod Folder. And mods you open should have corresponding folders like Terrain, Objects, Campagains, etc. Copy and paste all files of the mod into the matching folders in the Mod Folder. Make sure to read all ReadMe's in mods because sometimes things need to be installed in certain orders.
@TheBranchez5 жыл бұрын
@@devinhorner2358 hey man, thx for the quick response! I have all the games (as per your instructions *wink wink) and have run them all at least once. I updated main one with the in-game auto-updater to June 2013 if I am not mistaken, and now they all seem to be updated to the same patch. Is that ok? Do you mod all the games separately or? I also guess that like other games, I also need to make sure that mids are updated to the latest patch? And what about conflicting mods? Sorry about so many questions but I can't seem to find any proper tutorials online.
@devinhorner23585 жыл бұрын
@@TheBranchez No problem! You're not alone with the questions. I'm going to whip up a quick video today to walk through it. But in the meantime, yes you should be up to date. I launch the main game and drop all my mods into the main Strike Fighters 2 file. I think they call this the "merged" install in the forums. So far I've not encountered any mods that conflict, but if they do its real easy to delete files from the mod folder and reinstall the ones you want. As for updated mods, the game hasn't received any updates since 2013, and now it looks like the game is dead and the developer isn't supporting it any more. This means that all the mods out there are up to date because everyone is working off the 2013 update, so its all good.
