Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal. _Informing, Educating and Inspiring_ The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy. _Martin Tyner_ Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends. At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors. “One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.” Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator. He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years. “Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.” Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry. Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

Aw, I am so glad you were able to get the small little guy. Nests with a number of larger chicks and one small one can be extremely brutal for the small guys. I've seen a poor chick get "bonked" to death by its siblings, and another starved slowly because they didn't allow it to get any of the food over the last few years watching Peregrines. Curiously, it's mostly the rural peregrines that tend to be at most risk for a sibling related death. The metro peregrines have had far less hostility towards each other (the nest sizes are also a little smaller which helps, usually 3 eggs total, with two hatching and one being a dud). I'm excited to see how Striker progresses! I know Kate kind of left a peregrine shaped hole in you, and hope Striker is able to help mend that.

I saw a couple instances this past season on eagle cams where rescuers with permission removed eaglets from the nest for various reasons, gave them checks for injuries or health check before returning them back to the nest the next day or two

Martin you impress me with your dedication, respect and dedication to birds, as well as the obvious profound affection you share with your feathered people. I do raptor nest watch every year ( out in the middle of nowhere in the Sonoran desert). I have learned a lot and every once in a while I get to be in the right place at the right time to rescue a baby, or occasionally an adult . They are my heart and truly make life meaningful. I am so inspired by Stryker’s story, especially after your heartache with dear little Kate.

This like the eagle people in Mongolia and Kazakhstan who take a baby, raise it, teach it how to hunt and be self sufficient, then when adult, allow it to leave. By doing that the percentage of survival increases for the the eagles and it provides meat for the people. And you're not allowed to quit or die Martin. Wonderful video!

Also, is it in his genes to separate from his parents so is that a risk that he will want to fly away or will he just be super comfortable and want to stay with you?
