There is a character where everyday is opposite day, she manipulated an inchling who possess a magical mallet to cause trouble. Reimu, probably drunk, begrudgingly goes to beat people up until the incident is resolved.

Shimmy is an inchling princess, only an inchling can use the miracle magic, so a yokai who wanted to cause trouble manipulated her by spinning a fake history to convince her inchlings had there shit taken and there "real" history censored to get her to join her in a little revolution of the weak(and literal tools which the mallet brought to life) overthrowing the strong(of course the yokai doesent actually care about the cause its just in her nature to oppose whatever others are doing) Reimu beats her up and makes her realize shes been tricked, but most of the lore in this song is just jokes that shes short also Inchling crashes at Reimus place for a bit and make her a kimono as thanks, but its inchling sized so she wears it as a hair ornament instead, it is adorable

This is during the events of Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character. The premise for this game is that there's a sudden rambunctious energy in the youkai and tools around Gensokyo, turning a few into Tsukumogami, or sentient tools and items. What caused this was a character named Seija Kijin, an Amanojaku who is the polar opposite of everything, so she likes not having friends, she hates herself for making people feel happy, etc. Seija managed to find a hammer called the Miracle Mallet, which has the power to grant any wish to its user, but it can only be used by the royal line of a set of people, the Inchlings, who's ancestor managed to kill an Oni with a needle, and the blood granted the mallet its magical powers. Seija sought out the current heir to the Inchlings, who've long fallen from grace and have assumed the attitude of being treated indignantly and as if they were no different than the dirt on the ground, that heir being Shinmyoumaru Sukuna. Seija pitched this plan to flip Gensokyo on its axis, complying with Seija's power to flip things (so she's literally trying to "flip" Gensokyo upside down) by way of making Shinmy want to overthrow and change the power dynamics of Gensokyo. If you want a good idea on what exactly Seija wants and is like, I suggest Lyrica Live's video on her song, "Reverse Ideology." From then on, it's the usual Touhou game; the protagonists realize something is wrong (with an added twist, since now their own tools are being possessed and corrupted, thus corrupting the characters in the process if you go that route), fight their way to the top, and ultimately realize that Shinmyoumaru has a genuine, selfless desire born not out of petty reasoning, but to bring a disenfranchised people back to the top, all because one girl wanted to make the weak govern over the small.

The girl in the image with the bowl as a hat is portrayed in the game as being the size of a small child, but that is due to the mallet she is holding. Without its power, she is merely a few inches in size. Future titles show her using the same bowl (which is the size of a typical bowl) as a sort of vehicle for her to fly around in when she is small.

This is why I genuinely love Shinmyoumaru's story and song. You've captured everything-from the feel of the song to the importance behind way Shinmy is doing-perfectly! This is a massive break away from how Touhou antags usually act: selfish, the grand architect/instigator of the incident, and overall very smug and self-empowering of themselves, showing no sense of fear or comprehension of failure. Shinmy is fighting against her fear, for the hopes of her people, and ultimately against the borderline oppression of her people. This is a motive that other people can genuinely fight for, and that's what makes Shinmy both dangerous, and poetically hopeless, as Shinmy is only doing this because someone else is intending on using her, meaning that even though Shinmy believes she's fighting for her people's freedom, she's still just a tool herself towards Seija, who managed to sneak away as a lower enemy rather than the grand mastermind to this point. I could go on but I don't want to forget what I'm even talking about as I'm talking about it, so tldr, good song, good appreciation for the poetic story Shinmyoumaru had in DDC!

@@Ponera-Sama well, that's the thing; Gensokyo, in reality, is a safe haven for Youkai, Humans, and Gods, from the strong and to the weak. It's a bubble of peaceful existence for everyone of supernatural and magical origin to exist in, kept in an early-19th century time period, with no modern science to reduce the fear of Youkai and the unknown. Almost everyone prefers Gensokyo over the outside world, and because of this, Seija wants to flip everything on its head. If the majority opinion was "down with Gensokyo" without her involvement, then Seija would be all about defending Gensokyo. Seija enjoys being alone with no friends, and hates herself for making others feel happy. She managed to convince and trick Shinmyoumaru into believing that an entire Caste of people were being subjected to treachery, and that they were literal "tools," small persons like herself who, otherwise, would be insignificant to the world, and thus the basis of this song.

@@robitpower so if I understand you correctly, what you're saying is that there isn't actually any oppression and the only reason Seija says there is is to make Gensokyo a worse place for everyone? Somehow that doesn't surprise me. I've heard people say ZUN has progressive views in the real world and cite other Touhou-related material to support this, but if what you're saying is true, it would basically make DDC effectively a reactionary propaganda piece. And I could raise some points against that (Satori for instance would object to the idea that Gensokyo is a safe haven for *all* supernatural beings) but I wouldn't be surprised if the point in there was actually that hate for those people is warranted and they have no place in utopia, or something along those lines, if this game really is just saying that people who try to fight oppression and want radical change actually just want to make society worse because they're evil.

TLDR: A youkai who's basically totally inverted, everything is always opposite day for her, lied to the little needle girl, Princess Shinmyoumaru of the Inchlings, that the reason the Inchlings lived in a rather crummy place and had such a hard time was all the fault of Youkai, because she wanted to invert the natural order of the world by having the weak rule the strong and only an Inchling of royal blood could wield a magic wish granting mallet that could do it. So little princess Shinmyoumaru took the mallet and prepared for war to liberate and avenge the injustices against her people with an army of inchlings and Tsukumogami, item-gods or living object youkai, and corrupted Youkai tools and so on. Shinmyoumaru never finds out about the lie [the Youkai who started the mess is fought as a minor boss earlier] and so when Reimu, the priestess who maintains the order of the world they live in arrives to put down the Inchling uprising like she has multiple Gods and Demons before, Little Needle Girl sets her shoulders and grabs the magic mallet, using it to grow to the size of a giant [for an inchling, so about 3 to 4 feet tall], and her ancestor's oni slaying needle and prepares for a final stand, a last desperate battle with no holds barred, believing that Reimu will just kill all the Inchlings or punish them severely with worse lives if she loses. And in Stringstorm's depiction, Reimu, in the process of facing someone fighting for something that really matters that isn't their own gratification or desires for perhaps the first time, who has crushed Hell Gods, reality warpers, invasions from the moon, and vampire lords blotting out the sun, is for just a moment afraid. So yes, you go, little needle girl.

_Kobito_ has to be one of the most epic Touhou tracks in existence. Don't get me wrong, all of ZUN's tracks are _good,_ but some of them stand out that much more, and DDC has several. My personal favorite track in all of Touhou has to be _Primordial Beat_ itself.

Its a cover of an OST from the Touhou series, which is a huge list of games in the same universe, the mainline games being all bullet hell games. Shinmyoumaru is the last boss of Touhou:Double Dealing Character

And to add to the above: Our singer is an 'inchling', a race of very tiny people, from Touhou: Double Dealing Character. She sought to correct the history she was told, that the inchlings were important until the humans and yokai of Gensokyo humiliated them into obscurity, forcing them to live in a sunken castle (in actually, it was the inchlings misuse of the Miracle Mallet that resulted in their fall in the past). Thus she and her coconspirator cause upheaval turning normally benign yokai into highly aggressive ones that the playable characters must deal with.
