I think what you had on was a big turtle! The way is took line in short little spurts it was probably snagged by the stinger hook. Once they get down in the weeds or in a snag, they're impossible to get free. Good fishing!

We are students of the game for now. We have recently learned how to drift big live baits for stripers. As you can see from the video, it would be embarrassing to try to teach anything except for mistakes NOT to make 🤣. Grateful for your comment. Have a great day! 👍🙏🎣JU Hammah⚒ Bam! 💥 Bam! 💥

When using live bait, it is best to let the fish run with it for a bit. That’ll give it some time for him to get the bait deeper in his mouth so you can get a better hook up ratio.

Nice catch! Where you guys caught bait?
@JUNationFishing9 күн бұрын
@@unclesoubanh California Regulations require that these live baits must be caught and used in the same body of water…. Therefore, the baits are on the sides closer to the banks. Then we drift in the deep middle section. 👍🙏🎣JU Hammah⚒ Bam! 💥 Bam! 💥

Definitely gotta let it run. When using split tail or pike minnow. It’s best to hook it from the tail and put your stinger above the head. Striped bass like to eat them head first. Better hook up that way. An captain need to get rid of that bass rod and use bigger gear lol.
@JUNationFishing9 күн бұрын
@@chrispeang4114 Oh, man! I hooked it reversed 🤪. No wonder!!! Will put the stinger head first on the next trip! Thanks!!! Captain with his baby rod 😅😂🤣. He might get a big 40 incher that will break his rod!!! 👍🙏🎣JU Hammah⚒ Bam! 💥 Bam! 💥

@@JUNationFishing lol, baby rod. It’s okay to use. Just adjust drag to the right tension. No need to rush. Always tire them out. But great video!! #FishOn!

Count to 10 with big baits let them eat it
@JUNationFishing9 күн бұрын
@@Choks18 Now I know…. 😅😂🤣. And set da hook!!! The 12-inch splittail got engulfed on the way down and never hit the bottom. It started swimming off towards my friend’s boat. I was very confused and thought the splittail was dragging some weeds. By the time I saw the monsta striper with the treble hook in its throat, it was too late! It spat out the splittail as it saw me 😭😢😳

We followed our mentors into this new slough. When they left, we almost got lost! I do not know the name. This is one of many sloughs at Liberty Island CA Delta. If it's not 20 lb it's not a big fish
@JUNationFishing6 күн бұрын
I’ve caught sturgeon that are up in the hundred pound, but not striper unfortunately. My PB is only a 36-inch & at most 16 or 17 lbs. So any striper 30-inch or over is big to me. However, if I keep on using these baits, one day, I might run into a giant 20 pounder 😲😲😲. I can’t wait!!! Grateful for your comment. 👍🙏🎣JU Hammah⚒ Bam! 💥 Bam! 💥
