Today we went out for halibut but ended up with limits of Striper and a few Halibut along with some brown rock fish, this is part 1 of the 2 part series due to the amount of fish caught, I needed to consider what I wanted to share so enjoy this part 1 of 2 series but the Part 2 should be equally as fun to watch, enjoy...

Striper and Halibut use the same setup to target both species while drifting or bottom dropping: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Main line: 65lb Braided Line Weight: 16oz Balls for drifting is standard, but if current is less than 1mph you can cut that to 8oz when drifting, but 16oz regardless will keep you bouncing bottoms Live Bait leader: CXX Mono 6-8ft of 30-40lb Hooks: Use double hook sliding snail using Size 2/0 Octopus J Hook and Mustad Stinger Size 6 4x strong Treble Style of Fishing (Drifting)(Dropping): under 1-2MPH drifting you should do well just drifting bottoms no engine, if you are under 1MPH might need to use kicker to get you between 1-2MPH to cover more ground through out the day. Spot selection: very much dependent on the tides and the bait, so if you are watching you can always see what we tried that day, good luck! Tip for each outting: Always search for clean water!!! Bait move to clean water when things get dirty on a spot, you find the bait you will find the fish

Very new to bay halibut fishing- Can I ask : 1) Main line test strength? 2) weight dropper strength? 3) bait leader strength? 4) double hook setup for bait( single hook/ treble hook? Thanks for the awesome videos. Bill R

What's with the spinning rod and bait caster reel combos?

Now you are just messing with me lol, I mentioned this in the video you all were confused about this setup but the truth is, I had a bunch of spinning rods left over from the delta and have not upgraded all the rods yet, but, this trip i was testing out the Monterey and Cavalla and depending on the two and how they perform this year, the boat will be replacing all of them with either the monterey or the Cavalla, check out the video and you will see, :-) thanks for your comments let me know if you like the Cavalla or the Monterey just to get a gauge of of opinions before I finally settle, I need to catch a few fish on both before I decide what I like better, thanks

Are these still in the delta rivers or have they all moved put to the bay now?

Yes, lots of resident Stripers are sticking around the Delta but as the water temps go above 68 most are headed back into the Bay as to the reason the Bay is currently stacked heavy this time of year before they move out into the ocean. The next couple months are going to be Striper Heaven in the Bay so get out now so you can whack multiple species with ease
