How beautiful, just the fact that the homes are so well preserved coupled with those beautiful gardens. They truly don't build 'em like that anymore. Love the shaded path and steps in the first house, just like a forest from a fairytale.

Aw this is the video I wanted to see, I got busy with family things and missed a few months....but these gardens are gorgeous! Outstanding!! I would love to live there...except for the cold winters. I love that they use animals and not cars, when I was a child this would have been my dream place. But now that I'm older, I'm not so sure I could stand the winters.

I visited and explored the island every summer growing up through the 50’s and 60’s. As a parent my husband and I shared this unique and beautiful island with our 5 children. Now they feel as I do that we have ownership in the island. The gardens have never been as magnificent as they are now under Jack’s gifted vision.

This was so enjoyable. It's fantastic what Jack Barnwell has created there. I enjoyed learning the story about the properties and it's really hard to believe that the landscaing he put in at the Stroh house is only a few years old. We have a similar landscape zone mix but this is a tad bit colder. It's amazing how well the hydrangeas do considering the harshness of the winters there. I'm in Traverse City and have worked to create a flow with my plants as we walk along the garden path to our patio area and found some great inspiration from his work. Thank you for showing this!

WOW, WOW, and really WOW. Now I understand why people say to visit this island. I loved hearing about the history, also. What a grand vacation this would be when there was time to admire all the details. Can normal people walk around the area (sidewalks?) to get a good view of the homes and gardens or do you have to be in a formal tour group.

Mackinac Island is so amazing . You can ride a bike around the island or cut through the middle of it. There are horses to rent, carriage rides, and an old military fort-there is another fort in Mackinaw City. There are several old buildings of historical significants you can tour. The island is famous for their horses and homemade fudge.
