Thankyou for this beautiful story. I live in Munich and your shots of 'Leberkas and Co.' are lovely too. Well, those first kilometres alone with and owning her must have been miraculous. I have just learned about this incredible project by Herr Strohm and quickly lost my initial snobbish smirk. What a well composed exhaust note from that 'innocuous' power plant. To me its no Replica, its a potent lookalike. Luck of lucks she wasn't christened after that whirlwind bike brand. '... and even it took less time to catch Dillinger ... ' 😊

Funny, while growing up the posters in my dorm wall were Gemballas, Koenig and such..later I gravitated towards the cleaner lines of Gandini's wedge designs, but my inner child still likes those wider wheel flares of the 80s ( tacky? maybe)...hence, to me, this is the perfect Countach.

Do the replica car companies have to have permission or a license from the original manufacturer to build and sell their cars? I'm curious because some of the replicas I've seen are amazing and I would think that Lamborghini, Ferrari and other exotic car companies would have a trademark or copyright or Leal means to protect the design. Beautiful car by the way, I'd love to be able to have one of my own like a lot of other people!!!! Thanks!!!

I am waiting for my window to open for doing the same thing. I had a chance in 2014 to buy a kit but I didn't have a place to put it at the time so I passed. If I see another, I will probably buy it. I keep an eye out and I see a lot of fiero "short" kits, but not many full sized, stretch kits. We'll see. At this point I could fabricate everything except the proper dimensions of the body, so I will just have to keep looking.

I loved these replicas but i never understood why the costs where so extremely high. You could almost buy a real Lamborghini for the cost of a Strohm replica.
@sportscarstories4 жыл бұрын
Well, an original countach now costs over 300000 and if you mean other Lamborghini in the price range, such as a Gallardo, I would prefer the Strohm. Please always think about the maintenance costs.
@bobolulu76152 жыл бұрын
Costs are high because you need to either hand fabricate parts or buy the donor parts. To build cars like this you need a lot of time, a shitload of money, a decent place to do the build, a shitload of tools and lots of skills. These days you are better off to buy a car that is either finished or part done and not start from scratch.

@kevinkevin6245 жыл бұрын
Interesting car. I'm not here to disparage your car, but I would not call it a Countach replica. It has a similar look and style, but there are immediate noticeable differences I can see from far away. Rims are incorrect, back end is incorrect, roof line is off. My former business associate had a Countach, and I was around it in the garage for years. While your car is a fun car I'm sure, Again I wouldn't call it a replica. That is just my opinion. I have however seen a couple amazing replicas that I had to see in person to spot the small detail differences. This just isn't one of them. But, as long as you have fun, that's all that really matters. Just know a lot of people with minimum car expertise could spot is as a sort of replica even in passing.
@kevinkevin6245 жыл бұрын
@Cheetah Car ...again, no disrespect but I absolutely disagree with you. The owner of this car put Lamborghini badging all over it....thus trying to make people believe that it is a Lamborghini. People that own Lamborghinis are generally very knowledgeable and passionate about their cars. There is no way that a super car owner or enthusiast would believe that is a rare model of a Countach, or even a modified version. No one buys a classic like a Countach and changes the lines and rear body style. I've never in my life seen someone re engineer a Lamborghini in that way....except someone once made one into a limousine. Again, only a person without any real knowledge of a Lamborghini would believe this to be genuine. My only issue is this. If you're going to spend a fair amount of money to buy or build a replica, at least choose one with a correct body. That's all. Again, if the owner has fun with this one, that's great. I just dont understand it...and it's just my opinion.
