J'aime vraiment beaucoup cette chanson et le clip qui explique si bien ce phénomène des réseaux sociaux mais surtout les dépendances, addictions et les conséquences désastreuses et parfois mortelle de ce genres de réseaux ! Voila pourquoi mise a part Facebook (et encore j'y suis très peu) et Discord (pour rester en contact avec des proches) je préfère garder mes distances de tout ca ! !

These days if you're not on social media you're nobody SO SAD. In Australia, a law was passed a few days ago to prohibit access to social networks to minors under 16 years old and I think all countries should follow Australia's example, this would prevent school bullying and teenage suicides.

Yes, translating Stromae is almost impossible because there is so much word games in his songwriting. This one is very tricky, you're right for the first part. For the second part, one could make a different interprétation. "C'est comme ça consomme/qu'on somme, somme, somme" : that's the way (we) consume, we summon, we summon", which make sense too, imho.

@@kaddishcombattants I think... And I'd never really understand tbh, the right thing, as he write, is "consomme" like TV, phones ect. BUT, if we just take "qu'on somme", it's like (lost the word in english) "addition" (1+1 for exemple). Like something on social media we just want to have some followers more and more. It's just a game with word that he found and it's just genius. -qu'on somme: having followers more and more -consomme: we had the pleasure of the internet social media, the fame but it's also, ofter and more than this, just destroy our REAL social life So... My final thoughts are just he found two, plus 4 than 2, really genius game with thoses words. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For going deeper, I'll use french words as we can hear them and connect them together with what we can hear "qu'on s'aime/sème" "consomme/somme" 1. we go with "sème" that is like sow a seed, talking about followers that we want. 2. the seed has grown. And then, we are at "qu'on s'aime" because today, most of people like theirself only if everyone like them on socials. 3. we got the fame... "somme", counting the number of people following us 4. we are at the point where the fame is just consumming us. We change, friends starts to struggle to stay in phase and the destroying part is there Finally, this just the risks of socials that he's talking about (not hard to understand I know XD), not sure this is the right thing that we have to understand from 1. to 4. but seems not delusionnal from my pov.

@@obrian5358 You're right, "somme" as additionning makes sense too, especially with the visuals of numbers of followers, didn't think of it. It's the sign of great writing, opening multiple possibilities instead of narrowing it. Stromae is a great writer, as Ren or Aurora.

Be aware also that when you split "con-somme", the isolated "con" means "asshole" ("cunt", literaly). Like in Brassens' song "Le Roi des cons" : Il y a peu de chance qu'on détrône le roi des cons.

Pour le coup si on ne prenait que cette musique de Stromae, dans le contexte des réseaux sociaux et le message qu'il fait passer quand il dit (comme moi je les entends) "qu'on s'aime - sème, sème" et "consomme - somme, somme"... Y a pas photo, le mec est sur le trône à jamais. Ce que je comprends dans le son c'est que les mots du refrain sont liés: -sème: on sème la renommée sur les réseaux sociaux -somme: on additionne les follow et compagnie -s'aime: de nos jours beaucoup de gens pensent que les RS sont la vie et donc si on les suit dessus, ils vont s'aimer grâce à ça (on m'aime donc je m'aime...) -consomme: la partie destructrice qui, à force de trop se baigner dans l'irréel, on se noie dedans et on ne se rend pas compte qu'on puisse changer et notre entourage le supporte pas forcément et on s'isole sans le savoir Évidemment, c'est plutôt caricaturé ce que je dis mais en terme de "prévention" en ce qui concerne (surtout les jeunes) les réseaux sociaux... Bah là on a chef d'œuvre inestimable
