i got an st1 and good god, the difference between that and my first starter cheapo ebike is like night and day. You can just feel so much power coming out of that bike on its way to top speed and using the regen feature downhill makes controlling the speed so much easier than keeping your hand gripped on the brake. The ST 1 is like the ferrari california and the st7 must feel like the ferrari enzo.

I started with an ST2, almost everything was changed on the bike. Almost under warranty but how many times I found myself on the side of the road pushing it (I took out breakdown insurance so much that it was serious). How many days off or recovery time I had to take because I didn't arrive on time. How many days the bike was at the dealership (we're talking in months over 3 years). In principle I do 10,000Km/year I sold the bike with 28,000Km, when it should have had almost 40,000Km!!! I still had to take care of a lot of repairs (fork bearings, front wheel bearings, etc.) Info from the salesperson, I had no luck, it was the Monday bike. I keep my confidence and after 4 years on the ST2, I buy an ST3 Woe is me, even more problems. The bike had not yet left the showroom when the front headlight was not working properly, the brakes were mounted in reverse (front for rear and vice versa). Today the bike has 9000 km over 2 years, I should have had almost 18,000 km It has been at the dealership an incredible number of times for non-stop repairs. Still the majority under warranty, but still with the same drawbacks. At my expense fork bearings at 2000Km, broken spokes on the front wheel (then it was replaced under warranty), recently, front wheel bearings. The bike is not even 2 years old and I am more than €500 out of my pocket in repairs which should be covered by STROMER The bike is not entry-level, I bought it for almost €9,000 I can only advise anyone against buying a STROMER, they all have problems. And as long as you are under warranty, you will only get a small amount :) Regularly it is necessary to replace the motor wheel (1500€), the front wheel, the brake set, the motherboard, the control console, the V-shaped headlight, etc.

Hello Jason, thank you very much for your great video! I drive Stromer bikes since seven years and I do that for the same major points: The quality is Swiss made, the ride is very agile but controlled, and I find the looks of the bike just great. Actually I drive the ST2 Belt Drive and this in the very cold winter and hot summer here in Berlin. On this bike you do have a Roaxim Front Light, which is very good in the long dark nights in winter. Speaking of prices: I changed my car against the ST2 because I was annoyed with all the traffic jams here in Berlin. Now I save a lot of money and time every year (I am 15 minutes faster driving to work, another 15 minutes back every working day), so paying a bit more for a very sophisticated bike is good value for money I think. So enjoy your fantastic bike and ride safe Alex

@@jasonlynch9979 Hi Jason and and thanks for your offer to help. as i am considering a St7 as well, i'd love your point of vue on the following: my local stromer dealer is offering me a demo ST7 with 50miles on it with 5% discount. although i can afford a full price if i must , the discount is certainly interesting. considering the pinion issue you faced on yours and all the other issues that other St7 owners have described in forums, do you think the increased potential risk of misuse inherent with acquiring a demo e-bike and how sophisticated thus delicate ST7 is, do you think the demo is still worth getting or would you go for a new one? your POV would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Glad to hear your issues are non issues here. These bikes aren't meant for dirt tracks (we have no dirt tracks and there are 3 sets of tires available). For the low gears: I've driven a Stromer into our towns (medieval town with lots of people in the tourist part), so I just turn of electric support and put it into a low gear and drive 10 kph. Dealers are plentiful and main usage is a 20 to 30 mile commute into and in-between towns.

Thanks again Jason! Please keep cranking out videos - they are super helpful. Took my ST7 out for the first real ride today and have 1 question for you: did you notice any front wheel instability or wobble? I know some hub motor bikes experience this but I never felt it in my ST5 so curious if you experienced it, especially at slower speeds?
@jasonlynch9979

Hi ... I would say that is not normal, and you should definitely have the bike looked at by your dealer. I would consider that wobble dangerous at speed.

By the way the new St 5 pinion has longer fenders. I think you can retrofit them on the ST7. I’ll check in on it not that I don’t think you need it but I could be wrong. I ask around about the air fork if no one gives you an answer about it. Get video I mean that.
@Hans-gb4mv
@Hans-gb4mv 8 ай бұрын
I'm actually looking at either the ST5 Pinion or the ST7. The biggest difference between the 2 appears to be the battery size, while the 5 has some new gadgets that will undoubtedly also come to other models when they get an update. It's just that the 5 is at the edge of range for getting to work and back home again without recharging.
@cerebralpalsybiker7571
@cerebralpalsybiker7571 8 ай бұрын
@@Hans-gb4mv okay this is what I think this is just my opinion. Will with the st5 Pinion if you were put the Air forks on it would be about the same price as a st7 Pinion with a rigid fork which is I believe carbon fiber. Now you could get a second battery a 993 watt battery. A little over the st7 Pinion with a suspension fork. But you have a second battery on the st5 Pinion and you can get a frame bag strapping on the bike have a second battery for commute to work. Then on the weekends if you want to take a short ride you just use one battery. Can this is just my opinion I really love the st7 Pinion it would be a very hard choice for me.
@jasonlynch9979
@jasonlynch9979 6 ай бұрын
The biggest difference ST5 vs ST7 is the Pinion. On the ST5 it is a 9 speed and the ST7 it is 12 Speed.. In my opinion I don't think you need all 12. The other difference is the battery is huge in the ST7 . I could not find any weight on the ST5 but I imagine it is lighter because the battery is somewhat smaller, and the frame is a bit smaller.

Hi Jason. I’ve watched all your videos. Very good. I also have a st7. My problem is with the connect between phone and the bike so the omni app works
@jasonlynch9979
@jasonlynch9979 2 ай бұрын
@@williamgate5852 Hi William.. Yes the Bluetooth is finicky depending on what you are trying to do. You should be able to pair your bike with your phone (I think it took me twice). This will let you register your bike etc. Then it gets strange from there.. You can only use one Bluetooth connection feature. Example: if you have the helmet and pair that.. you then cannot use the Auto Unlock feature or dashboard feature … you have to pick one or the other. So depending on what you are trying to do you can think you are doing everything correctly but there is a system limitation. I think this is not the best experience given I can connect tons of Bluetooth devices to my phone and use them all at the same time to include my car. But Stromer you can only pick 1 feature. I would suggest if you cannot do the initial pairing you should contact your dealer.

Hi.. I would go to the Stromer website and look for a local dealer in your area (maybe reach out to them by phone first depending on what you need). Unless it’s a specific Stromer part (electronics or battery) everything else could be found at most bike shops.

Hi Justin, thank you for watching my video and commenting. Belt drives are becoming more popular, and Stromer is one of many brands using them. Something to look for when you're shopping for your next bike. You are right. Stromer is an expensive option, but like with cars, there are other options. Exoctic vs. domestic, New vs. used. It is a matter of buyer preference and perceived value. I decided to go crazy and am having a blast riding it. :) Have a great day.

Nice review! Just checked the price difference with Europe pricing...man, that's quite a lot... I've recently sold my ST3 Pinion LE and bought also an ST7 Dark platinum (was a 2nd hand at my dealer, could't resist). Couldn't agree more with you, its a beast and a fantastic bike (pedelec as we call it). I've sold one car and use my ST7 as a daily commuting pedelec. I've been riding a Stromer for some years now (ST1, ST3 Pinion en ST7 nowadays) and it's expensive, yes, but you get absolutely the best of the best. I'll post my cam review(s) with the ST7 soon on my YT channel. Other Stromer cam rides (with the ST1 and ST3 can be watched on my channel in case interested). kzbin.info/aero/PLKC7TY9vVzWso1cm4t3Q-LME-kxOiwlzS&feature=shared

Hi.. Thank you for your comment... I am familiar with your channel. When I was researching e-bikes, I watched your videos and a few other channels. They were a big help in my buying decision. Biking in Europe is very different than in the U.S., but my theory was that if people were using these bikes as a second car, then they must be good. Thanks again.. Looking forward to your ST7 video... Ride Safe.

The other bike I thought was really intriguing was the Evari 866. They could unlock the bike to be a Class 3 (28mph) but they were not set up to ship to the U.S. . I am super happy with the ST7 but maybe for the ST8 Stromer can be more creative. The technology is changing so fast. Super fun to think about. … Thanks again.. Ride Safe.

Just one question: How much experience do you have with ebikes? It's obviously an expensive bike; some would say it's too expensive for what you are getting. When you compare it to my bike, it comes in second in every way but price, barely. That's not totally true; they have improved some components. They have new 4-piston brakes and, finally, 200+mm discs. A proprietary front fork. But they still use hub motors and small proprietary, extremely overpriced batteries. That alone makes them a second-class ride regardless of the price. The bike was designed for people who have more money than they need and don't _really_ ride much. People who think an app connecting to the bike is a good thing. It's a status symbol more than a world-class ebike. I'm positive it's fun to ride when you don't have much experience with better ebikes, but you couldn't keep up with me. If you want an expensive, underperforming e-bike *_toy..._* this is the bike. That's why they use the term commuter to describe them. This is how you can have a far better bike than any production ebike built today, but I suspect you will delete my comment anyway. - photos.app.goo.gl/ADgC6oyPM2gyrCq27 Stay safe.
@jasonlynch9979
@jasonlynch9979 8 ай бұрын
Hi Brian.. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment… not sure why you would think I would delete it.. I just checked out your pictures..you have kitted that bike out to the max, and you have built that to fit your needs. Thats AWESOME! For me this is my first e-bike.. I did a ton of research and yes, there are far less expensive options out there. For me, I wanted something that was for pavement riding, fast, long range, and that did NOT have a throttle option. The primary reason I bought the bike was to find some sort of exercise that I like doing. As far as the app I am a tech nerd so for me I like the integration. It is less about the app but more about the security features that the app provides. I can totally brick the bike and get GPS incase it ever gets taken not to mention the built in alarm. To me Stromer seemed to check all the boxes for what I needed and how I use it. Am I saying this is the best bike ever made… NOPE.. But am I enjoying every minute I am on it..Hell Ya! The reason I am making videos is not because I want to be a KZbinr, more so, that when I was researching this brand there was limited information in English about these bikes (especially the one I have) I know this bike is not for everyone and it is not perfect, but hopefully people can form an opinion good or bad if this is the right fit for them. Thanks again for the comment.. Ride safe..
