On this channel, we have gone over 2 kung fu stances: The Horse stance (MaBu), the Drop stance (PuBu) and now we will go over our 3rd stance, The Resting stance (XieBu). This is a great one for the mobility of the knees and ankles as well as balance. This position can be used in a variety of different ways and eventually integrated into other practices such as locomotion.

We worked this together two years ago as well! Starting high up is not a problem. Find a challenging yet pain-free position.

Yes I like it because it is a move that seems like a dance step to me, so it’s a fun one. Just challenging… but that’s always a good thing!

I tried, this seems so dangerous for knee. I remember similar position in movement camp from Dudi class and I did not get it as well:(

I’m sure you are familiar with the dose relationship that is important here. I used this exercise to actually rehab a knee injury I had. This movement is neither good or bad for the knee it depends upon the dosage and intensity. You can work with a smaller range, an easier regression or a smaller volume and build up.

I have pain when full flex in knee on one leg, and feel it more when external rotation like in turkish sit, so maybe some weak in adductors or internal rotation. It keeps me away from hard work on dragon, pistol sqaut.
