A friend hit a deer, spun him in front of a truck, and destroyed his vehicle. He was told he would never walk again. Still in the hospital his wife announced she was leaving him. He was able to eventually walk with crutches, and resume working but his wife still treated him as if he had died and fought him on every turn to keep him from seeing his own daughter. You want to know what a good wife is all about. That’s my wife. I was fired from my banking job in 2003. Weeks had a career feminist head case as a boss. Screaming and talking down to us. My wife agreed with my decision to go back to college to become a school teacher. For five years her sister, brother in-law, work associates and college friends told her to divorce me. December of 2007 I graduated with my master degree in Education and was New York State certified. It was a victory for our entire household. We celebrated with a bottle of champagne. Sadly there’re few women like my wife. How can you tell. The divorce courts are full of the other women. BTW my sister in-law and wife’s college friend divorced their husbands when they lost their jobs.

The script does flip on women at some point in time, it's usually when a man realizes it's not worth the risk because he doesn't have enough time to start over from nothing again if things end badly, and it's too late for him to start or grow a family of his own. Then it's all about how much value she brings and protecting yourself, your retirement, and your heir's inheritance. I'm not about to open the fruits of a lifetime's worth of struggle and sacrifice to someone who comes late in the game and has no stake in what I've done but could take it all from me. At 52 now and well off with a paid off mortgage, no debts, substantial retirement savings, liquid cash on hand, high income, almost zero expenses, and early retirement planned. I'm not about to risk that on anyone. Any woman I would date, if I still dated would have to bring her own home, her own retirement investments, her own savings, and a drama free family assuming she has grown adult or near adult children. Anything less and I'm not interested in anything beyond casual and there will be no cohabitation as it's near impossible to get someone out of your home, drama and damage free if things don't work out. I learned that lesson the hard way in my late thirties and won't ever be repeating it.

I never believed it until it happened to me, but men, it's true, never get seriously ill or injured when you're with a woman. I had to get a kidney transplant, and my wife refused to help me recover. My mom had to take care of me post surgery. All but one of my friends who suffered serious injuries (work-related) that required surgery or hospital stays or illness (cancer), their wives left them because they got the "ick" and lost interest. All of these marriages were 10+ years when the wife filed for divorce.

I can’t stand it when people bring up God in a conversation like this. And I highly doubt he was committing adultery or she would have DEFINITELY brought THAT up. She even mentions what great guy he is. My husband has had cancer 7 times since 2016. I will NEVER leave him. Some of us take our wedding vows seriously. There is a woman in our town that divorced her husband after he got cancer. He died maybe one year later. She will always be known as that woman who left her sick husband and then he died. I also want to add that kidney failure is no joke. Especially if he was on dialysis. You usually go every other day and stay hooked up to a machine for hours. The next day you are completely wiped out. Basically your life is over and you need people to help you.

Good friend of mine was having trouble with a demanding, ungrateful wife that kept threatening him with divorce. He kept trying to keep her, if not happy, then at least less upset. Then, she got breast cancer. You have never seen a woman flip so quickly. She needed him for everything and actually told him that she was glad that she hadn't left him. Until she finished treatment and was given a clear bill of health. She divorced him, took all the cash and prizes. Now that he's free, the weight has lifted off his shoulders. He looks 15 years younger. He's dating. And she is OFFENDED! She's spitting nails and trying to assassinate his character. Too bad their adult children were there for the whole drama; they remember how she used and treated him.
