I wouldn't be surprised if there's less than 10.000 people in the world that could actually defeat Thor in a straight confrontation where he's out for blood, and that's currently, if he'd train for a decade in combat sports and develops a real combat sense while he keeps his mass and strength, he'd be next to unbeatable in a scenario where its him or his opponent in a bare hands fight. Many people are more skilled than him and could land hits on him, or knock him out in the ring with all he rules present, but among those people there's not many who'd survive if he wanted to take their life for real. He either doesnt' know them (a lot of BJJ school don't teach them because they are considered too dangerous, and if you train in the GI they are officially forbidden altogether) or he didn't try them because it's considered very dangeros and irresponsable to do it to a beginner, since you don't feel pain until after the knee break so he would not know when to tap in time, the risk of injury is too great. I can't blame the BJJ guy. First of all, he's not a heavyweight. We're not living in the Royce Gracie era anymore where he could submit monsters. There are weight classes for a reason. Second of all, you need a top of the chain BJJ practitioner to deal with someone as big as Thor on the ground. Put Roger Gracie or Gordon Ryan in there and see how it goes. Anyway, good stuff Thor. You won't get a better master than the legend Bas Rutten.
@jondoe27723 жыл бұрын
No, Thor would still lose in an actual fight. He'd be a large lumbering fighter who has zero takedown skills and would tire extremely quick. Royce still had trouble with large fighters in the sense that it took a bit for him to wear them out so he could submit them. Here they are just rolling and are starting on the ground. Big difference.
@MrAlepedroza3 жыл бұрын
@@jondoe2772 Found the Napoleon complex guy. Hope you're kidding. First, an actual fight wont take place in an octagon. A street fight won't last long enough for you to tire a guy like this, who despite his size is trained in striking and has fought professionally. You better be a very good striker yourself. You won't have a soft mat under you, either, if he falls over you, you'll be out of air and with a few broken bones. Try a takedown against a guy that size who can also strike and outranges you like you outrange a toddler. He'll stop you with one hand and pound you with the other, he doesn't even need that much takedown defense unless you're a high level wrestler, judoka or No Gi champ...and as you can see, he's neither clueless on the ground. Hafthor doing bjj is so scary. He's a great man with a lot of self control and respect for his opponents, so he wouldn't do any harm, but he has such ridiculous strength he could literally cave in a mans chest just by putting his weight on it, like at 12:33 with his hand placed on the mans ribcage, right where the liver is, imagine the pain if he dug in and put his weight on someones chest like that, could literally crush someones liver. He could probably snap mans arm just with his strength alone, no arm bar required. He could probably rip the leg out of the hip joint by putting forward pressure on it if he's mounted on top. Or dig his fingers into the opponents body to tear the muscle, or behind the ribs to do some awful damage if he wanted to lol. If Hafthor actually wanted to harm someone, there'd be little difference compared to getting mauled by a bear when facing him lol!
@improbable61293 жыл бұрын
I'd say that goes for most strongmen that are over 350lbs. Sumbitches are fuckin huge. Nowadays some of the guys that win the comps are around 350, but Hafthor, Eddie Hall & Brian Shaw all were at their best when they were around 450lbs. Hafthor is nowhere near that now, but just fuckin imagine one of em on top of you. Surprisingly explosive too if you watch strongman.

U watch to much TV mate. Any real competitive black belt wuld have just gotten into single lex X guard inverted and taken his leg and weight off them and submitted him in 20 seconds lmao. That guys josh palmer a hobbyist who just did bjj to lose weight he has no competitive credentials and wuld be destroyed by competitive blue belts.
@luka1883 жыл бұрын
@@REXAZOR I don't actually watch any tv at all, would like to see how the competitive black belt would get him of his feet and submit him though. I know there's techniques, but when someone is so big and strong you can't even really apply your best techniques due to the sheer size of him, I wonder how well that would go. Also, the fact it would take an expert with over a decade of experience in BJJ to take down a man with no experience shows how much his size factors in. Not to mention, Hafthor doesn't need to oblige and let anyone take him down to the ground. Teach him some basic defense in a few months, and those black belts will have a hard time hurting him.
@bradanderson41923 жыл бұрын
"a lot of self control and respect for the opponents" and "he would not do any harm" my ass lol. In this video he sparred with a boxer half his size and he went completely berserk punching him in the head full force dozen of times: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGSvg2mmjKqjgbc And like you can see the boxer still had his head intact, was not knocked out and Thor had to stop because he was too exhausted. Some people are really overstimating Thor's ability to inflict damage, there is no doubt he is a freaking monster of incomparable strenght and power, but he is not going to crumble your body like you are made of glass by just grabbing it.

I don’t think bjj practitioners say size and strength don’t matter. They say the techniques are based on leverage rather than strength so a smaller guys has a better chance against a stronger opponent. Strength and speed are always a factor.
