Actually, the iron was purchased online in the Netherlands! It's not the easiest thing to find in shops because people usually buy stroopwafels rather than make stroopwafels at home. But, you could seek out a sort of professional restaurant supply shop, or order online and have it delivered to you while in the Netherlands. Good luck!

It is worth noting that using a detergent cleaner on a waffle plate is never recommended kzbin.infoUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn though people who don't understand about kitchen hygiene won't understand that a stiff brush is all that is necessary to clean the inside of the unit. Let it cool slightly but still perform the cleaning while it's warm. I used to have a Black and Decker unit that I just loved, and was concerned when we had to replace it that I might not find one that I like just as much. This one does it for me.

Thank you, Maya Li. These stroopwafels are delicious and the hardest thing about making them might indeed be finding the iron. The iron used in the video is from the Netherlands, bought during a trip there. If you live in the UK, you will most likely have to order one online. You can look for pizzelle makers / irons, as well - these yield a similar result. If anyone finds a speciality shop in the UK where one can find one, do let us know!

Hi there, stroopwafels are a little bit soft when they're cold, especially if you leave them out in a humid area, or store them with other items. They should definitely be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place (not the fridge). You could also freeze them individually, then defrost at room temperature. But in general, the fresher they are, the more crunchy they are.

Stroopwafels are the best, I had one at a Dutch Festival out in Holland Michigan and they are the bomb!
@anakbulenyasar168611 жыл бұрын
Treacle is not available in Indonesia. You have to go to specialized imported goods supermarket in Jakarta and nag at them. I use light molasses or pancake syrup (golden syrup) to substitute that. The original one would use keukenstroop which is dark, smokey, and not very sweet compared to Lyle's pancake syrup.

Hi, my stroopwafels are delicious when hot but when they cool they are too soft and cakey and do not have a very complex flavour. I have been cooling them apart and only storing them when they are cooled so I am not sure what is going wrong.? I was also wondering what the purpose of using melted butter rather than butter is? Thanks

hi Maria, thanks for posting this great recipe! just wondering about the iron - I have done a lot of research and it looks like the one you're using is a Palmer's Belgian Cookie Iron - but I can only seem to find them for sale in America, which means they have the wrong voltage (i'm in Australia, which uses 220 volts, America uses 110-120) my question is, do you happen know where I can get one that has the right voltage? Australia, UK, Europe, Asia (except Japan) are all fine. I don't want to get a voltage converter as they are big and heavy and i need to be able to travel with the iron… would you have any suggestions? many thanks!

Sorry you're having so much trouble finding treacle! We're not sure where you are, but have you checked any expat shops? We found one in Bali, Google Dijon-bali to find the website, that might be worth contacting! Otherwise, you could try molasses in a real pinch, though the flavour won't be the same. If anyone reading this has any tips, please share! Good luck!

Allrecipes UK | Ireland Nice, thanks for replying. I barely have any baking experience and I completed this recipe using a petite waffle cone iron. Took a little trial and error to get the timing but in the end it came out well. With the smaller size, using the exact amounts, you can make roughly 25 of them. The issue with that was that I had plenty of filling left over since I was using less per stroopwafel. Luckily, it looks like there's definitely enough for another batch of dough. I would definitely want to try and track down a genuine iron. My only question left, is there a way of keeping my fingers from burning so much? Like something I can throw on my fingers to keep the heat down but have the same control of the stroopwafel while cutting?
