That house went up quick! God Bless you and your family and ALL Fire Fighter personnel.

man how long was this house burning for before that first engine arrived?

The only thing that I can imagine is that some neighborhoods are like ghost towns at mid day during the work week. You have entire blocks where there is literally no one home. This is also where and when most burglaries occur. There was probably no 911 call until someone saw the smoke billowing from a few blocks away.

0:38 THREE Fire Fighter's and one engine lay in the hydrant line and stop so you have a direct line of sight on the Visible Burning Material with the Fastest and Largest water applicator you have. The Deck Gun. You activate the pump and hit this starting on Tank Water. The fire would be 80% knocked down by around 1:30. Unfortunately, the video is edited so a time line will be a minor problem but if you watch the video while visualizing what I said, you will get an idea. This wasn't a bad knock down but if there is a much faster way, it has to be utilized. The Deck Gun should be on the mind of every FFer until the location of the fire is determined.

JB91710 Surprised Command didn’t call for a Blitz from the deck gun Impressive Knock regardless

Great observation. So the tank only lasts a minute or two that is a significant head start.

A CAF system is ideal for a situation such as this. Lightweight lines and the foam component makes for fast and LASTING knockdown. It also decreases the overall volume of water needed and makes it more efficient.

JB91710 and again is say, what if someone is still inside?they will get scalded to death. The primary search needs to be done first, a few squirts from a hose gives enough time to do so. Everything can not be solved by a deck gun, especially if life is involved

The house was obviously gone long before the Volunteer fire company arrived. Towns in NJ refuse to hire full time fire fighters. I have great respect for the volunteers but they need to work regular jobs to live. They can't be in the firehouse and always be at the incident immediately. The Towns spend huge parts of there budgets to provide the police with great salaries, insurance and retirement plans. Yet "volunteer" fire companies need to go door to door asking for money. Something is not right.

They should keep the water flowing. I see this over and over. They get a great knockdown, then stand there looking at their accomplishment while the fire gets a new start. Not a FF so might not understand why they do it. But, it is a frequent occurrence.
