I'm a volunteer firefighter in the great state of Tennessee and I have been watching Milton fire and rescue for a while now I love this chiefs response

Hello from Vermont, I just randomly watched this video. I normally watch FDNY chase videos. Anyway, having a huge love dogs, and they can sense the fear and worry, I hope the man and dog have recovered well from this tragic loss of his home. And Chief, I liked the driving and how you hugged those corners. I wish that man and his K9 friend the best.

I have been on many fire scenes working as a fire/incident photog. Something funny about the way this guy carries on with his talking and amazingly he JUST purchased $5K worth of furniture, Got the Harley off the deck and something about the tires starting the fire. I can't wait to hear what the investigation turns up.

We had one like this a week ago, got on scene, heavy smoke showing everywhere, no visible fire. We got portable tank and draft set up and dumped my tanker, I went the five miles into town to set up shuttle op and refill at the closest hydrant, took 15 to 20 minutes to get back. I rolled up, house was gone, nothing left but foundation and a few stubs of 2x4. Pump operator said it vented through the roof as the team was bringing the hoses up. Place took off like a blowtorch. Was all new construction, osb and engineered trusses. New houses are tinderboxes.

It is wonderful to live in the country like that. So meany beautiful things around you. I have a friend that has a home in the middle of nowhere love to spend time with them. But always in the back of my mind is that they have a fire very little chance to save the place. I guess that is the price you have to pay. Life is always a trade off.

Sounds like the initial R P gave a wrong location so response time might have been delayed. I have family living in a rural cattle country area of Utah and first responders get inaccurate locations quite frequently for m v a and fires. If you aren’t sure of the location tell the dispatcher where you are calling from and the area you believe the fire is.

Was the cause of fire determined? Sometimes you wonder if building codes and home designs in U.S. especially in more rural areas should adopt more fire proof materials and sprinklers.
@fanofbigmedia5 жыл бұрын
Building codes in rural areas are generally non existent and codes that are in place are largely ignored. That's just how it is. Not saying that was the case with this home.

1 ¾ is better to start with in rural setting while they are getting a water supply set up and working. After getting a continuous water shuttle and supply going then you can move to monitors and extra hand lines.

That was my first though. There are not a lot of other reasons for tires to suddenly burst into flames. If there was no electric or gas involved I would be looking for some oily rags left on on or near the tires.

I don't like being like JB and critiquing other FF's but geez guys lights on running a call and the siren needs to be on too. Liability liability. Also, you have SCBA's...wear them up at the fire. You obviously aren't going in but you are fighting it close enough to breathe that in. Not one person with one on.
@thomasfletcher41095 жыл бұрын
I agree . Please y'all , wear your s.c.b.a , that is some seriously toxic smoke coming from that fire
@mrnorthwestohiodude77584 жыл бұрын
@@thomasfletcher4109 Most departments like this in rural areas often times dont have enough money to afford SCBAs or refilling SCBAs for all crew on board, they probably only have a set of 2 or 4 per engine, and this dept has 3 engines, so they probably only have 6-12 max SCBA for the whole dept. Don't quote me on that though, it depends per department and their funding.
