I've had the night sky for a week. I am using it with a Nord Drum 3P. I can honestly say that the sounds demonstrated here are basically nothing compared to what you can do with it. The filters and envelopes etc.. create really interesting effects like a short pitch bend down or up, and more with the envelope wave forms. It's sick. I used to have a TC M3000 and it had control over room spaces like the Big Sky--- but was very clinical, like using for post production film work to create spaces to match overdubbing voices shot on location. The night sky does not do this at all, like room sounds. That being said, there really is no competition in these pedals. If you want Beauty and something down to earth, Big Sky. If you want weird and going into insane territory, Nightsky. One final note, it seems to me that the presets on the Nightsky will most likely not give you the instant gratification like the Bigsky. You really have to tweak them. And to me it's worth it. It's really not a plug and go pedal at all.

I appreciate your input. I was considering replacing my old tc hof2 with something newer like the big sky but after a while realized my pedal is fine for my purposes. Which is just adding a little reverb to an overdriven amp. But these look really nice for people who can put all their power to use.

@@ericandrews1661 You are welcome. I'm mainly a drummer who loves big reverb in my headphones. I just got a guitar, and for me, I set the depth low, and the rate low on the nightsky modulated stuff. I just add a touch of shimmer, and a hint of glimmer. I don't like it when you can obviously hear the modulation. The Sparse verb will give a small room/spring sound or a slap back echo effect on short settings. The only other verb I would get is a Pladask. I like the sound of destroyed buildings. And then being destroyed in the middle of the verb. I ordered a Romferd, next a Baklengs then the verb. I like pedals that are different and the Pladask line is all connected, from beauty to insanity in a heartbeat🤪

Never before have I watched a review video that has music playing the background constantly, almost drowning out the voice, but definitely drowning out any example sound effects being attempted.

@ericandrews16612 жыл бұрын
I decided I'd buy neither lol. Actually I'd come to that decision a few days ago after looking into replacing my old hof2 with something newer or nicer. Lots of great choices out there. That's why this video showed up on my feed. I really wanted to go with a big sky and I'm sure it sounds beautiful but I listened to my sound and thought about my needs and realized what I have works and sounds perfectly for me. I only need a little plate or hall reverb in the effects loop of an overdriven amp. It was fun flirting with the idea and learning about all that's out there. This video explained a lot for me too. It must be nice to be someone who could actually use all these features and power. I hope you're enjoying them.

It can be worthwhile to know one's limitations. I watch with fascination the technology that enables deeper and deeper layers of the imagination to flourish, recalling the 70s and since when I would imagine how I could enhance my guitar and synths (once I could afford them) and imagined a device that would exponentiate sounds. Now that I have a few, newer pedals prompt and challenge me to compare what I can already do with what these astonishing devices enable. I slow down... and smile 🌛

@@LoVeAmBiEnT I don’t think it’s about these units being bad, it’s more about the over saturation of their use. Every worship and ambient guitarist seem to have pretty much the same Pedalboard these days and it all is sort of becoming boring tbh. Reminds me of the eventual sameness that all the rack setups arrived at in the 80’s where everyone had the same tri chorus, etc.
