Hi Cyberattack! First, thank you for this helpful video. I just bought the nightsky partly thanks to your video. However, when I try to create the ''Ducked reverb", I can't. The sparse decay appears immediately when I pluck the string and not when shocking off my notes. Can you name me the setting/knob who create this? Thank you !!
@CyberattackWorld2 жыл бұрын
Make sure the Depth knob is set below its halfway position, around 11 o'clock. It sounds like you might have it above halfway, which is where the envelope sensitivity switches from negative to positive. Then besides that, Speed should be around 4 o'clock, the Mod Target should be Filter, and the Shape should be Env. Hope that helps.

Ducked reverb didnt sound like a ducked reverb at first. Sounded so original. Wow this unit is a must have for making unique sounds for 2020
@CyberattackWorld4 жыл бұрын
The ducked reverb was the hardest one for me to get. (It was way harder to dial in the sensitivity than it was for the gated reverb.) So it definitely felt like I was pushing the NightSky to do something outside its intended purpose. And the ducked reverb does have some other artifacts going on as a result, but that's part of the fun. Anyway I'm 100% with you that the real point here is finding unique sounds for the present.

If I can find more sounds that are as cool/cooler than the ones I covered already, then absolutely I'll do a part 2 for the NightSky. So far the only new thing I've found that rises to that level is a setting that sort of sounds like a Leslie speaker / rotating cabinet type of thing.

any idea how to get that 6:02 sound with other pedal? sounds like random vibrato and bit crusher.
@CyberattackWorld4 жыл бұрын
yes, random vibrato is definitely crucial to that sound (in that example, the NightSky is set to randomly modulate pitch within a narrow band). I think the bit-crushing is just because the sound is 100% wet, so you're hearing a sampled version of your guitar tone. I've tried to get a similar effect out of the Mobius, which can do random frequency modulation (aka random vibrato at low levels) in Quadrature mode, but I've never been able to get it to sound like 6:02. I'm working on a way to do it using the TWA Side Step, and there'll be a video about it before too long, so stay tuned for that.

So. On the pitch shift thing. I have a reverb pedal that lets me do that... but in real time. I don't have to monkey about with my DAW to rearrange things and whatnot. That's cool that BHS lets you do it with zero latency. I have some others that are also quicker than the NightSky as well, but I found that the NS does add some additional glitch with the "mod" setting on random. I will check out the Black Hole Symmetry though thank you.

Man, I just got this pedal and I will likely try and use everyone of these patches you created. Incredible job. Do you think you’ll make a video about the sequencer?
@CyberattackWorld4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the sequencer part of it is something I haven't been able to get into so far. I might be wrong, but my hunch is that using the NS sequencer sounds bonkers and cool, but it also sounds very much like you're using the NS sequencer-the type of sound that will live in everyone's mind as being associated with a specific product. I have similar feelings about the EQD Rainbow Machine, for instance: very cool, but very recognizable as this one particular pedal. So part of why I didn't get into the sequencer in this video is that I felt like I couldn't really top Strymon's demonstration of it, and also because what I'm trying to do with these videos, generally, is to find sounds that are not instantly recognizable as belonging to the pedal I'm talking about. However, all of this is still my first impression of the NS, and I may be underestimating the versatility and range of its sequencer stuff. It's totally possible that people will find ways to use it that sound unique and different-to be honest, I didn't spend as much time as I could have searching for that. Early on, I got swept up in other uses for this pedal, and that became what the video was about.
