I am looking to send/convert eurorack "analogue clock" to sync the Timeline. Is there an easy way ?
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
I use the Erica Synths MIDI to Clock module which can work both ways: Take a MIDI clock and generate clock triggers, or take a Eurorack clock and generate a MIDI clock. Unfortunately it looks like it's discontinued, maybe you could find one. I'm sure they'd be other similar modules though. www.modulargrid.net/e/erica-synths-midi-to-clock-v2
@FreqBand
@FreqBand Жыл бұрын
@@RichardDeHove Thanks. Another way is.... some synths or sequencers accept incoming analogue clock and might be able to also send midi clock out of the midi port, when analogue clock is set as master. Keystep Pro does this....but only when the Keystep is in Play mode (running a sequence).
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
@@FreqBand Yes, using the clock to trigger a third unit then taking its MIDI is an excellent workaround. Of course then you get into issues of "switch on order" when starting up. I did struggle with the "Who runs the master clock?" issue for a while. The answer for me was a dedicated clock. I use the ERM Midiclock, but people rave about how great the much more expensive big brother is, the ERM Multiclock (which also has a CV output). I also found having a MIDI master, even if sunning a lot of sync clocks was a better option just for better BPM control. It's much easier to go MIDI to analog clock than the reverse. OTOH if all you need is a converter then maybe try the Kenton Pro CV to MIDI. It's a dedicated box. I haven't used it but seems to fit what you need.
@FreqBand
@FreqBand Жыл бұрын
@@RichardDeHove I was able to get an Erica Synth "Midi-to-Clock" (new/old stock), and it works. But your way (midi master clock) is probably best. From my research, it is much easier to divide a midi clock 24ppqn into a usable analogue clock rate.......than it is to multiply analogue to meet midi standards. Eventually I'll find the right unit to make midi clock the master. Thanks.

Hi my timeline is losing volume as i use it. And the presence of the first note would get weaker. It would go back to normal only after turning it off and back on. I havent touched the global settings. I was wondering if it has something to do with global settings? Please help
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
What power supply are you using?
@lomi3691
@lomi3691 Жыл бұрын
@@RichardDeHove i was using the factory adapter on each of the pedals before. Then i got a truetone cs12. Then thats when it started. Now, even when i isolate the the TL with its own adapter, GTR-TL-amp. It still lose some volume. Almost like the punch of the first note weakens. Then would go back as soon as i restart the TL. And when i’m switching over the the patches its almost like the TL gets confused and mixes up the patches. Then I lose that first note when i switch to another patch. Sometimes its just the wet signal that will go out of the amp
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
@@lomi3691 Still sounds like a power issue to me . The Timeline needs 300mA and I think many of the Truetone power sockets are either 100 or 250. You need to plug into the 500mA sockets. Have you tried going back to the supplied powerpack as a test?
@lomi3691
@lomi3691 Жыл бұрын
@@RichardDeHove yes i went back to the supplied power adapter. Even isolated the TL. Guitar-timeline-amp. Issue was still there. Today when i started playing. Plugged in the pedal. Plugged in the guitar. The sound was like all wet. Like the mix knob was turned to the all the way to the right. Turned the knob back and forth then to the exact position of my saved preset. Preset led was orange then green. Then it worked fine. Copied your global setting. Even though i dont use the any midi input in the pedal. Spill over was off and i turned it on. Actually better sounding now it was working good Until i stopped playing. I’ll see the next time i play. Truetone customer support actually told me that the pedal wont even turn on if it was a power issue. And that the cs12 can actually supply power to the pedal as long as the whole pedal board do not exceed the 2000mA. Can it be just settings i need to tweak? Or maybe a factory reset?
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
@@lomi3691 If you've eliminated power as an issue then perhaps look at the Globals menu and the 'kill dry' option and make sure that's on 'normal'. I don't use an expression pedal but perhaps there's a chance that may be left on some odd position? No doubt you've already swapped out cables as well. I assume you're going in mono but perhaps check the position of the stereo/loop switch on the rear panel. After that I'd do a preset reset and a global settings reset. And if that failed then I'd breathe deeply, admire the sky and clouds, and contact Strymon.

I've bought and sold around 40 Strymon pedal. The build quality is top notch. They all sound great. Is this still a great delay at 350?
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove 2 жыл бұрын
Hi KS. Looks like we share the same buy-and-sell-pedals syndrome :) I stayed away from Strymon for ages just because they were so popular - stupid I suppose but surely there were others just as good? After cycling through delay after delay (after delay after delay) - and most recently getting burned by the awful X-Time - I made it to the Timeline. The thing I've found about Strymon is that they get all the details right. The buttons are solid, the knobs are good, the menu options and ergonomics are logical, and of course the sound is excellent. So many other makers seem to fail in one or two crucial areas. The only thing I don't like about Strymon is the colors (wish I could afford the loss to re-buy the midnight editions....). As for the Timeline itself - the only thing I thin it lacks is a bit more of a stereo focus but otherwise I can't fault it. It may be 11 years old now but holds up incredibly well. In many ways I find it superior even to the Zen.
@michielrenier6500

Hi, when saving a preset, do the knob positions get saved along with it? (so that when returning to the preset will return to the knob settings when first saved regardless of their position?) I know the light changes to orange when modifying but that doesn't seem to be the case with the 'time' value. Many thanks!
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove Жыл бұрын
Yes, the knob settings are saved with the preset. The time setting depends on what preferences you have set. For example, you might have manually set the time to 100BPM but have the global options to incoming clock. In that case when you recall the patch it will default to the incoming clock rather than 100BPM. OTOH if you then disconnect the incoming clock it will default to whatever was set when the sound was programmed.

Hello Following problem with my Gigrig G3 and Timeline: Let's say I want in Preset 1 (from Gigrig) a Delay Time 100ms, Preset 2 a DT of 200ms and Preset 3 a DT of 300ms. At this stage I have managed that P1 sets 100ms, P2 and P3 both set 200ms. If I change the DT of either P2 or P3 to 300ms it also changes the DT of P2 or P3. What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? To clarify: I know how to save on the Timeline. Thanks for your help!
@RichardDeHove
@RichardDeHove 2 жыл бұрын
Hi BBG. There's a few possible variables here especially depending on whether you have an external clock coming in, but I'll assume not. In that case I think the differences will be in the patch presets themselves. In each preset check that the TAP mode is set to PRESET. In the next parameter along from there, MIDICL (Midi clock), make sure that's set to OFF to override any incoming MIDI clock.
@bbgain
@bbgain 2 жыл бұрын
@@RichardDeHove Thanks for your help. The TAP mode I already set to "PRESET" but it didn't help. I didn't found the "real" solution for the problem but I could resolve the problem by copying another preset to the "damaged" preset and then I was able to reprogram it.
