I sold my Mono a while back so can't help too much with the specifics. Generally I found the Mono to be very stable but not very ergonomically friendly. Live I wouldn't want to be doing anything other than selecting presets I'd made or I'd get confused for sure. Have you looked at the Mono V2 ? I had one order early on but cancelled because of the all the bug reports. Now by all reports the firmware is rock solid although people still seem a little wary of the USB MIDI and prefer the DIN MIDI. Really for what it can do it's an absolutely amazing machine yet it has never seemed to 'break through' into popularity. Maybe it's just too complex?

Yes, still got the GEB-7. A perfect companion to the DB-01. I'd use it on every video but I'm usually trying to show the 'raw sound' of other effects. A find a tiny boost on the bottom end, a scoop at 500 and highs to taste add a beautiful finish to the sound. You really notice it after you've had it on for a while. The volume slider is a bonus.

Have you connected the perkons to the db1 before? If so how did you do it?
@RichardDeHove13 күн бұрын
Only just syncing them via a common clock.
@Thegingerwolff13 күн бұрын
@RichardDeHove how? Sorry but I'm a complete noob and am really trying to learn about connecting stuff up and all the terminology. I have both and really want to try them out together
@RichardDeHove13 күн бұрын
@@Thegingerwolff Well, as soon as you have a few machines I think one of the most fundamental questions is: How will I keep everything in sync? In other words, what will be the clock source that gives stop, start and tempo commands to all the machines simultaneously. Once you get a big setup you'd probably want to get a separate dedicated clock source, but with two machines then you'd just choose which one you want to be the master. Let's say you decide that Perkons should be the master and it will send its clock to the DB-01. With these machines there's two ways to do this: 1) You can use the Perkons "clock out" port on the back panel and connect a cable from there to the DB-01 "clock in" port. The Perkons port is 1/4" and the DB-01 is 3.5mm so you'll need the appropriate cable. With Perkons as the master you'll then need to go into the DB-01 config menu and change the clock source to EXT (external). 2) The second method is via MIDI. Take a standard MIDI cable and connect it from the Perkons MIDI out port to the DB-01's MIDI IN port. Then go into the DB-01 configuration menu and change the clock source to MID (MIDI). Now when you hit Play on the Perkons the DB-01 will start in sync. If you wanted the DB-01 to be the master then just reverse things. Connect the MIDI cable from theDB-01 MIDI OUT to the Perkons MIDI IN. Leave the DB-01's clock source as internal, then go into the Perkons config menu and change it's clock source to MIDI.
@Thegingerwolff13 күн бұрын
@RichardDeHove amazing thanks. I was considering a separate clock device as I have quite a few devices now. Anything youd recommend ?
@RichardDeHove13 күн бұрын
@@Thegingerwolff I use an ERM Midiclock but I think they're out of business now. But it's an excellent simple little clock. You could go for something like the DisasterArea Micro Clock (I haven't used that one and there's sure to be others like it), or even just use a MIDI controller keyboard that has a clock source. Also if you were considering a hardware sequencer then that would naturally become the master. Depending on the DAW it might also be possible to run the clock from a computer but I think this has the potential to make things very messy. The beauty of a small outboard clock is that it doesn't commit you to always use a certain machine. For example, you could decide Perkons was going to be your master clock, or a dedicated sequencer, but then you'd need to use that machine in everything just so you had a clock.
@marcus268Ай бұрын
Thank you! Can the volume of the Erica be adjusted?
@RichardDeHoveАй бұрын
Yes, but it's hidden in the config menu. If you want something for live I suggest pairing the DB-01 with a Boss GEB-7 bass EQ pedal. It really enhances the DB-01 tone and gives you a volume slider.

Have one and not really a subject here but for me it also brings lots of mojo, not just stereo galore, but a circuitry thing that gives the sound an open character frequency wise. Many times played a tune through it and when turning it on gives the extra you hope for. The Spring even adds to that. Some fx you never sell like this one. If for example Mojo wise had to choose selling either the amazing Nightsky ( yup something completely different:) or my Cap, I'd choose the last for keeping, it's that great, especially for synth. Than again really curious about the Meraki..

I love it but £500 for a reverb unit... Hmm... Dreadbox? Strymon? Zoom? Boss? There are a lot of other quality reverbs out there. I love Erica synths, slowly becoming a fan of them but their gear is too expensive. I want them to update the perkons and put some form of digital reverb in there. It's one of their flagship units and costs near £2k
@KeithDuncanSoundАй бұрын
Brilliant demo by the way thank you!
@RichardDeHoveАй бұрын
There are lots of excellent high-end reverbs out there, some even more expensive than the Nightverb. In that top tier you can safely rely that they all have a top quality sound. So then maybe the decisive factor becomes something else - price, functionality, size, looks, or a single specific feature. For me what sets the Nightverb apart is that it feels designed to be played. I also have the Big Sky and although it has plenty of knobs they feel more like programming aids than something you'd use while performing. Others I've tried were even more strongly a case of selecting the preset and moving on. The Nightverb is also clearly a desktop unit rather than something that lives on the floor with a pedal button which is another indicator it should be tweaked. Erica and firmware? Couldn't agree more. For me the LXR-02 is screaming out for some love and even the DB-01 could do with some extras like a enhanced FM and ratchets. My guess is most of their programming power is currently going into the new Steampipe synth and after that the great eye will swing back to Perkons.
