Gomez can play left back. But southgate won’t use him. He prefers trippier because he’s more defensive minded than Gomez. The problem is trippier doesn’t have the legs anymore and can’t venture too deep into the opposition’s final third anymore. This is why we are disconnected on the left side.

Southgate took Luke Shaw, 4 players from Crystal Palace, and a lot of first timers, and left at home ,the biggest shock to me was Grealish, then he never took Rashford Sterling, he has tried to change the squad to quick, and it is not working, them 3 players have so much talent. Southgate is playing Arnold in midfield, he is not a midfielder, he is a right bake ,but he would have been fighting for that place with Walker. Not to take Grealish is a disgrace and is coming back to haunt Southgate, i believe he never took Grealish because he don't like him and maybe the same with Rashford. Look at the last world cup, he dropped Rashford ,brought him on as a sub, and he scored, so he played Rashford in the next game, and he scored another two goals, then when it came to the next game, Rashford should have played again, but no that good for nothing Southgate dropped him again.
