Is there a code that garages need those vents? I want to close mine up.

Howdy foundation vents keep mold and fungus under control by providing proper airflow under your home. Roof vents allow a roof to last much longer also by keeping the air flowing through the attic. For a garage, I would think if you're going in and out regularly vents are not necessary. My own garages didn't have them.

Evening Nate, glad you're learning stuff about the plastering trade. I'm no spring chicken either, plus, If I do something I have to fix if it fails in the future, It's happened before, that's how we learn, but hopefully my learning days are over. yep, one of my sayings when I give folks advice on something in the construction industry,, : ""if I tell you it works or it is wrong, it is because I have screwed it up before and I can tell you for sure the right way"",, of course I dont think I actually use the word "screwed" anyway, I do enjoy these plastering vids. I been in the construction industry long long time, worked my up from a common labor to managing ENR top 100 construction companies, . I have had bad and good stucco jobs one on a lot of large multifamily projects,, the bad ones,, well,, those subcontractors should have had some training from you. I know quality when I see it, and ya'll are quality.

Hey Nate, dude, you have a tough job, with a ton of responsibilities or babysitting, if anything goes wrong you're the first to get yelled at, then on down the line. It's no joke management for construction is incredibly difficult at least sometimes, it's tough to get two people to agree on anything let alone 20 different subcontractors with 20 workers each. Hope youre paid well for absorbing all the stress, that last parts a joke as we both know there's usually little praise on a job well managed, but lots of finger pointing to, when a tiny piece of the puzzle is wrong. Cheers, and have a Fantastic New Year! I'm sure you earned it! Kirk Giordano’s DIY plastering tips

Great advice, Kirk. Now I'm going to try to figure out how to retro-fit a louvered-vent over an existing open-mesh vent without breaking into the stucco and without making it look funky. This is on the wall of my garage, and when the neighbor's gardener is using the leaf blower, a good share of the grass clippings come blowing through the vent.
@StuccoPlastering10 жыл бұрын
Good morning GSMSfromFV, I think every video I do, after Jason posts I watch and think, man, I should have added this or that, it's the drag of being a perfectionist. You can buy these louver top mount vents for what you now have and simply screw them on top of your current open mesh vents. (non louver vents) water can and will still seep in behind the top flange but the majority will be prevented from the wind blowing the rain on top of the mud sill. If your walls are painted just seal the top mount vent flange to the walls with polyurethane caulking and problem solved. best wishes, Kirk & Jason Giordano’s DIY plastering network

Your videos have been immensely helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I'm replacing some metal exterior vents that are banged up and hoping to find a more substantial/decorative alternative to the typical steel louvered vent. Any recommendations on vendors or retailers? I'm striking out with a google search.
