I love your work! Is it ok to coat the Styrofoam with bonding agent as well or does that stuff melt the foam?
@StuccoPlastering14 күн бұрын
@@baconpizza1239 It’s not necessary to apply a boding agent over the foam but stucco-netting is necessary

You can slice off the extra foam nice and neat with a half round wood blade on an oscillating (vibrating) saw or dremel tool.

So are you guys putting a scratch coat first, then another layer of gray coat, then impregnating stucco mesh into that second coat?
@StuccoPlastering13 күн бұрын
For the Sto a scratch coat than spraying the dash finish, with dry-vit its impregnating a poly bond continuous adhesive.
@santos810413 күн бұрын
@@StuccoPlasteringAre Sto and Dryvit really that different? We like to use Dryvit because it’s easier to finish. We’ve used STO, but I never really liked working with it 😅

Hey Kirk, probably off subject, but do you feel staples hold as good or better than Roofing nails? I'm doing metal lath with brown coat plaster, then thin natural stone over and we've always used nails, but are thinking maybe staples are the way to go? Pneumatic 16-Gauge 1 in. Crown Lathing Stapler with 1 in. x 1 in. x 16-Gauge Galvanized Wide Crown Staple for between the studs and 1 3/4" on the studs. thanks! Doug
@StuccoPlastering18 күн бұрын
@@doughinrichsen1079 it’s been proven through stimulations in Los Angelas that stapes hold better. The simulated earthquake test showed the heads of the nails sheared off. Between you and me after your brown coat you rest your first stones on the ground and stake them on top of wash other, so either nails or staples would both work .🧐
@doughinrichsen107918 күн бұрын
@@StuccoPlastering On the thin stone, many times you suspend the stone off the ground. It basically suctions to the walls so no footing is needed. I had a suspicion that the staples would hold more, just wanted your expert advise!! Thanks!
