Thank you again, Kirk. I came back to this video to refresh myself ready for when I attempt my own rendering on all the block work I've been building around my garden. I've got a few retaining walls, a couple of raised flower beds and a small soak pool to render up. I've never done it before but I am really looking forward to it. Prior to starting my garden renovation I had never even so much as stuck two blocks together on my own and now I'm loving it. Once you get the "feel" for how materials behave it's very addictive lol. Keep up the great work you guys and thank you for making these videos. What I like most about your videos is that you take the time to explain everything in an easy to follow, down to earth way. You don't make assumptions like some people do where they show you what they're doing but don't explain everything leading up to that point and why they did what they did. Your videos are very versatile and connect with people of all skill levels from a novice like me to someone skilled looking to improve their work. Great stuff! Thank you!

From his actions, Kirk Giordano proves to be a very intelligent and wise person who learns through his own tacit observations. His voice is calm and the chosen words are rich enough to describe the accurate hidden detail of the undergoing processes. What I admire most is his decision making after he observes the present condition of the situation and his mind works out what is required in the near-immediate future. He is a gentleman of great experience in this work. His rate of change of manipulating his tools makes that stucco obey all his demands. His hands accelerate and decelerate according to the action and it all starts with the mixing of the sand and the portland cement to the right consistency to flow. The manner in which he picks up " the mud" and deposits it in place clearly shows that Kirk is a "gentleman" as the rate at which he starts and finishes an action without overshooting the final position is the mark of an experienced professional. The delay and wetness he introduces to let the stucco set or run for the next action shows his great experience The logic used in making that corner is brilliant, commencing with the wetting of the straight wood and what and how to chose the wood, keeping it in place with his knee, while pulling in the mud that he deposited and accumulated beforehand close to the corner, is a rational move that helps him fill in the space to blend the flatness of the wall with the edge of the corner. His smooth voice and manipulation at 10:09, both chosen with a rate of change that keeps that white shirt so clean proves beyond doubt that Mr. Giordano is a real Gentleman. I cannot help thinking that with the work rhythm chosen in his voice and manipulation and the style of pacing about to conduct any situation, Kirk would make a wonderful classical dancer handling the rhythm of a Staus Waltz on any international dancehall and I am certain that he would be a winner and a gentleman in whatever he cares to tackle. All I can say is that he made music and performed a nice rhythm with his work style and gentle voice and body actions with the right rate of change shown in this video. He is a gentleman who would appreciate the mathematical operations in a complex automatic control system which he somehow developed through his own intelligence and rational thinking. Sir, my congratulations.

Your videos are some of the best ones out there! Highly informative. Q: Is it always a good idea to add bonding adhesive for re-surfacing purposes? Or the admix, to make the concrete more plasticized? In other words, are there any instances where a bonding adhesive or admix would be a flat out bad idea - besides concrete that you are planning to stain afterwards, of course?
@StuccoPlastering5 жыл бұрын
Howdy Hybrid of America Dude, it is a great idea to apply bonding agents to surfaces, such as, "Larson's Weld Crete or Quickrete's bonding agent," that you are going to plaster as these surfaces may not be cementitious. I have not had the need to apply any plastering lime to products as I buy cement plaster with lime additives already in the bags, sure, it cost a few bucks more per bag, but I save on time and distraction. To make the concrete more plasticized some plastering contractor add Gibco and or lime, I have no time to save a few bucks for cement bags with little to no lime. I desire the strength of common cement with the ability to spread easily, lime in the bag too, which gives the cement plaster more flexibility. I personally use Hansons Lehigh premium cement plaster, this is why I buy the premium cement plaster all additives are sold in the bag, I just add water and sand. Peace love and happiness to all. Hi Kirk. I have been learning so much from watching your videos. Really appreciate how much knowledge you're sharing. Can't tell you how many times your videos have explained why previous projects didn't always go as planned or how something could've gone faster/smoother. You are a master at plastering and it shows. And to see Jason working with you and venturing out on his own projects has to make you proud. Thanks again!!

You're a madman. I love it! Great work. I started my illustrious career as a hod carrier/mixer back in 1978 across the bay from you. Worked up to do a fair amount of yucko stucco work in my youth in SF. Lot of dry rot repair and door/window installs. Now a lowly general contractor in Mill Valley. You know your mud sir and do your work very well! Who are the stucco guys in the north bay you like?

Good to see someone taking pride in his job and enjoying his trade! Thanks for the tutorial. I have a small block cement wall like shown - that fell apart. It's base is not even straight. So I'm looking at nailing some boards together and concrete fill (thinner than the base as its only to hold back a plant bed. Or using polystyrene in the middle to keep same size but save on concrete and weight. Then using your technique to vertically plane it all off.
@StuccoPlastering6 жыл бұрын
Howdy Joseph, both ways will work, if it were me Id dig down a bit where it's failing and skim the wall with Rapid set stucco plus use as a footing, they sell this at Home Depot, it hardens in 15 to 30 minutes and is stronger than cement. This way does take experience. Live long and plaster Mastering Plastering for the beginner’s

watching this guy takes me back.....he would be what we call a great boss.....allways teaching and improving and not compramising quality for speed......we took that so for granted.....nowdays it is but a memory.....so many just dont care these days......they want minimum quality and maximum output.....mostly from being under cut on pricing and due to a lot of home owners not caring as its a quick turnover ala real estate to them.....you see the result every where a few years....some times one full season cycle....later.....cracks....de-laminating...etc....and it costs the next buyer a fortune to fix what should never have happened......
