This mower was being used when it suddenly stopped running, now the pull rope is really tough to pull.

I agree, the less parts the better if maintained well. I always have a hard time to understand why people abuse their expensive equipment so often. I see it all the time. At least change the oil once a year on an average lawn, if bigger change it more often. Oil the moving parts like wheels cables etc. for every use or so. Great video. Many thanks.

I love the Honda blade clutch system, and wouldn't be without it. That particular model has the single-lever rear height adjuster, which is about the worst design aspect I've ever seen on a Honda; the connecting bar between the rear wheels is the lowest component, and drags on any uneven spot in the lawn. Doublewide6 has a very clever method of swapping out those clutch bearings. The 'bearing in the freezer' trick helps for re-installation.

I have a 2003 model 160 Honda plain engine with the manual choke lever on a light frame , gave twenty dollars for the mower and transferred the Honda engine on a light frame . Just a trim mower , all I did too it was just clean the carb and the rest is history . That was three years ago , easy to push and pull , the more you have on one the more things too go wrong too . I can live without the clutch model . Great training video - thanks - keep it up . Saved your video just in case I get one to work on in the near future...

Other than a drive cable that was replaced under warranty and 1 spark plug, the air filter, oil yearly, and blades and blade holder, I've replaced nothing else. A great video. I have a bit older version of the HRR mower (from 2006), I bought it used in 2016, and yes, it has the clutch system, and is self propelled. I do keep up on the maintenance on it for the most part by keeping stabil in the gas as much as possible, and I did change the oil I think at the beginning of this season, and it's gotten a new carb and mulching blades, and a whole new rope recoil mechanism. Outside of that, it's been a reliable as they come, for the most part. As to the clutch system, I have no issues with it and much prefer it to the actual kill switch/dead man's bar where you let go of the dead man's bar, the motor stops, then you have to yank the rope to restart, every time you empty the bag. I use my bag early in the season, mulch the rest of the season myself. When I need parts, my local Ace Agrishop has them, I order, and go retrieve and install. Prices so far are very reasonable and it's just up around the corner from my house so a win, win situation. Just recently had to replace my now dead Troy Bilt weed eater for a Stihl version that I got at that same Ace Agrishop. They rock.

I'm with you in that none of ours have blade clutches but the riders BUT the Kawasaki that I put on the Snapper was on a Deere mower that had one BUT I was able to take the blade clutch parts and make a blade adapter because the original one (Briggs) was too big for the smaller shaft. Yes, I'd rebuild a blade clutch if I had one on a mower but it'd only be bearings IF I could get them but if I couldn't I'd just make an adapter or get one and do without a clutch. I thought it'd be the conn rod there but glad it's not. Thanks and Blessings!

I hate when the rope gets stuck, it can take you out and really be a nuisance if your not careful with it. Now, my question, do you prefer bagging or mulching, and what do you think the pros and cons are, mine re, baggging you stop more frequently, mulching is harder on the mower, but it really all comes down in the end to grass type and thickness, ur thoughts.

What about a totally new engine on a gas log splitter just assembled? Second start after adding more hydraulic fluid - it starts for a second, then suddenly stops and the pull rope feels stuck - can pull only slow and with resistance? Could it be low motor oil level - didn't fill it right? New to gas engines, so most likely I made some error.
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 ай бұрын
sure, take out the spark plug, then pull on the rope and see if gasoline comes out of the engine. There's a good chance the carb allowed fuel to seep by while not in use, and flooded it.

@@HomeGaragechannelAfter letting it to cool down for about an hour, checked the motor oil level - it just flowing out when plug is unscrewed, so I'm assuming that it means enough oil. Tried to pull - no more resistance, the rope is fine again, so I started it without problems, but because I have hydraulic fluid leaking from under the cap which doesn't fit well I shut the motor off. Waiting for a good hydraulic cap to arrive. So, I guess, it was some sort of automatic emergency shut off related to problems with hydraulic (it was foaming like crazy). I hope the new cap will solve the problem.

I have a Honda HRR216VXA that has the same issue. My problem is that the center nut is not turning however the starter rope pulls extremely hard and when turning the flywheel there is no loose or tight spot. The valves seem to move in and out as they should. It just stopped out of the blue. The block is not leaking oil so I know a rod did not go thru the block. I can turn the flywheel all day with a large flat tip screwdriver, so I assume the engine is not seized up. Any idea what could be wrong. It needed a speed adjustment because Honda runs them max at 3,800 when we all (or at least me) knows they will run 4,200 all day err day. Those precious RPMS really help out in the back 40 and it probably does cut the engine life down 10% if your not running synthetic 10-40 or 15-50 in hot climates.

@@HomeGaragechannel when I looked under my honda izy, it looked completely different! I did manage to find the problem, the blade spins freely so it was the recoil mechanism. Manage to fix it without getting it replaced. 😀

sure, theres a small screw you need to remove on top of the carb, and blocked by the idle screw, you need to clear that jet but it's very small.

The kids cut wet grass and jammed up the blade and they ripped at the pull start. The speed being moved was because they didn't clean under the deck and the blade was tight.
