Stuck shower head

Need help removing shower head nut. I cannot get it to release, even using a wrench. It is new, so no rust is present. I think someone put the tape on counter clockwise and that may be part of the problem. Any suggestions?
PROBLEM SOLVED !! This type of shower head comes with a special type of key to release the head. Many property owners are installing these "water saving" devices in their rental properties. Well, turns out I was actually using more water because I stayed in the shower longer than I did when using a hand-held shower device. The landlord removed the fixed head and I installed a water saving hand-held one. Yaaay!
BTW. Some folk say you can jimmy it with a small bike wrench. My handyman would do this. LOL. Um, just send a text or email to your property owner or landlord.

Boil some water and put it in a bowl that's deep enough to submerge the shower head up to the plumbers tape and hold it there for about 5-10 minutes. The hot water should melt the tape making it easier to remove, you may still need to use a tool to get it off. Hope this helps

You can hold a lighter around it which causes the metal to expand and it’s easier to get off

Hopefully you got your showerhead removed by now. For anyone else looking for more help, I wrapped the end of the showerhead 3x with something called Seal Repair Tape (Cobra Tools brand, bought at Walmart - it's like a grippy silicone rubber with no adhesive), put a cotton towel over that, and finally my showerhead came off easily with slip joint pliers around the towel/tape.

Hi folks. Yes, I did get the shower head off. The building manager removed it with a special key. Yep. A key. This sh is one of many new water saving devices owners are installing in their rental apartments, condos, and houses. You need to get permission to remove it (unless you are an owner). I replaced my fixed sh with a water saving hand-held one. Someone said that you can also remove these locked sh with a flat bike wrench🤫

Put a dry cotton rag over the shower head while using vice grips. It should come off thats what i did.

DIY: squash the metal loose part with your wrench then take off. Destroy the shower head and never buy this style shower head . This shower heads are faulty.

Probably not lining up the show head when screwing it on the ridges or whatever you call it.. on the instructions it says to hand tighten.probably was strip not lining it upon screwing
