And this is one of the reasons I will be owning HAAS machines. I’m in AK and a service call for that would cost thousands, and yet I could totally accomplish that repair myself. Thanks guys. Look forward to owning my first HAAS.

They are already doing it. New controls are way more locked down than the old ones. Can't change many parameters without a Haas service key which is thousands of dollars.

Great video. We have other machines that use the 90 degree studs and my operators occasionally forget to check and make sure that the right stud is in the holder. Luckily we’ve been able to get them out by wiggling the holder while prying on it. This is a great video though for when our luck runs out and we have to pull the pocket.

Best thing I've found to prevent sticking toolholders in the spindle, is spray the taper with PTFE dry film lubricant. If it does stick, tapping lightly on the side of the toolholders will usually break it loose🙂👍🛠️

Has nothing to do with the problem in the video, which is a pocket holding the tool. If your spindle has issues releasing the tool, it is time to clean the spindle bore and recheck your spring stack and air cylinder. In some cases it could also be a damaged spindle bore or a tool holder.

Been having issues with a vf2 dropping tools when doing a toolchange for 2 years, tried scotch brite with clean bore, wd40, 2 stroke oil, hydraulic oil etc and never got it to where I would be able to leave the machine due to random tool dropping. Read this comment this weekend and immidiatly bought dry lube with ptfe. Problem instantly gone! Been running 12h/ 5 days now. The toolchange even sounds different. Thank you for the best Haas tip of the day yet! Every Haas should come equipped with a can of dry ptfe!

Used to have this issue, hit it with a hammer, clean spindle bore, scrub tool with brillo pad, clean and lightly oil. Done.
