I use to work at an industrial shop where the train track ran right at the back of the parking lot. When it snowed trucks would think it was the road and get stuck on the tracks. Thankfully the train would round the corner at a snail's pace so i use to watch the train pull trucks off the tracks all the time. Was cool to watch. Even better was the time the train conductor knocked on the back door and asked "is that your car"? I forgot to set my handbrake and the car rolled down to the tracks and halfway in the ditch. Again, train pulled me out lol

@ShippingHarbors8 жыл бұрын
+Bauppi Yeah, a ship that size would have no problems at all with pulling the truck in the water. 1800 horsepower will be enough to pull several of those trucks into the water :)
@ShippingHarbors8 жыл бұрын
+Canal Never heard torque when it comes to pulling forces of a ship. Most of the time 'Bollard Pull' is used for ship pulling capacities. I think this ship would have about 20 Tonnes of Bollard Pull when pulling in a straight line. That is enough to lift that truck of the ground. In this movie the ship pulls sideways with the help of it's rudder, so it loses allot of power that way.
@thor_bc59298 жыл бұрын
+ShippingHarbors That was awesome! did having it sideways give the captain more control or visibility? Just curious why they didn't let out a little line to get the tug straight.

The driver on the truck should have known better than to engage his wheels as he was digging his own grave. the pull required would have been less had he left the truck free so that the wheels will not sink offering an initial vertical climb rather than rolling the wheels forward! At 0:02 his front wheels were all above the surface and then he engaged his gearbox thinking that he is helping when in fact that rotational circumference was in fact dredging the underside of the tyre and pushing it back till at 1:12 his front wheel lower half was embedded in the soil and he was lucky that the tension in that rope did not pull out the front of his truck. Congratulations to the Captain of that ship as he applied force with little velocity so that he would not gather momentum.... as other wise the consequences would be imaginable........... clever man indeed, Well done.

The Truck Driver Was CLEARLY A ROOKIE.. When a Vehicle is being pulled out of a Stuck Position? Put the Vehicle IN NEUTRAL AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE WITH TRACTION TO PULL THE STUCK VEHICLE OUT OF THE STUCK POSITION.. By spinning the tires you only force The Stuck Vehicle DEEPER into the place/location it is stuck in... Basically DIGGING A DEEPER HOLE... MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE GROUND WITH TRACTION TO PULL THE STUCK VEHICLE OUT OF THE HOLE IT'S STUCK IN... People tend to do that for some reason.. Treads in a Tire? Are designed TO "GRIP"/"DIG"... That includes Mud or What Ever... So while SPINNING? Tires are basically "GRIPPING"/"DIGGING"... But when being pulled? The Tires are BASICALLY SLIDING OVER A SURFACE... Making it easier for a Vehicle with Full Traction to Basically "Slide" The Vehicle out of a location... However, Once The Stuck Vehicle's Tires are on a Surface where as they can gain traction? They will AGAIN Do what they're Designed to do... And that is "GRIP"/"DIG" INTO THE SURFACE... Allowing them to Roll Again... A Quick Lesson in Basic Automobile Physics for those who are Interested...
